I have aortic valve insufficiency, do I need heart surgery (valve replacement) and when?

You can have a minimal amount of AOV insufficiency and never need open heart. It all depends on how much that valve leaks and how fast it gets worse.

If you had an Echocardiogram then they are aware of how much it leaks. If they didn't mentions valve replacement then I would just ask to have an Echo done yearly so you stay on top of the problem.
I know that it is hard, but try not to stress over it too much.

Nobody can predict if or when you will need surgery.

Best of luck  (+ info)

tricuspid valve & mitral valve repair.?

My new born baby noted has AVSD in her heart after operate. Discover that tricuspid valve & mitral valve still leakage. Need to do the repair also.

Does anyone here got this illness? Can recover fast?
----------

I have tricuspid arterous, I've had two heart surgeries and will need more. More than likely they will replace one or both valves and repair other problems with the heart. I know it not easy but you have to put your faith in the doctors that everything will work out. Heart operations are getting better all the time and improving mortality rates. My initial operation was only available for ten years when I had my first operation and now the mortality rates are more than double from that time period. It depends on the health of the child, you maybe be in the hospital for 2 weeks or more and about 6-8 weeks for recovery.  (+ info)

could trivial tricuspid and bicuspid valve regurgitation's cause headaches?

Trivial regurgitations do not cause any symptom. But any significant head ache needs evaluation to find out the cause and remedy.  (+ info)

The tricuspid valve is on the right side of the heart, between the right atrium and the right ventricle. The normal tricuspid valve usually has three leaflets and three papillary

About Heart Valve Disease
Valvuloplasty is one type of heart valve surgery.
Heart valve conditions that most often require surgery are stenosis (narrowed valves) or regurgitation (improperly closing valves that allow blood to leak back in the wrong direction).

Tricuspid Valve Question?

My boyfriend just went to his heart doctor and his tricuspid valve is leaking because of his pacemaker wire. They are saying that its moderate to severe. We are trying to decide on what moderate to severe really means. They said the same thing when he was at the doctors in June.
----------

Tricupsid regurgitation (TR) can be mild, moderate or severe. The tricupsid valve is located on the right side of the heart and separates the right atrium from the right ventricle. During the contraction of the right ventricle, the tricupsid valve is normally closed and does not allow blood to travel backwards into the right atrium. The severity of TR is determined by the amount of blood that regurgitates back into the right atrium instead of going into the pulmonary artery like it normally should. If a small amount of blood is regurgitated, then it is considered mild. If a significant amount of blood is regurgitated then it is considered severe. Moderate is between the two. Cardiologists frequently use the term moderate to severe to indicate that it is somewhere in the middle.  (+ info)

I have a very slight regurge in my lower tricuspid valve. will mirena make it worse?

the mirena pamplet I have lists that people with valve trouble should not use mirena. I only have a slight regurge in one of my heart valves, I don't even see a heart doctor as it was not recommended by my family doc. I am 32 years old... should I worry about the effects of mirena? I don't want the surgery of a tubal and taking birth control made me moody and gain 20 pounds!

If you are concerned with this, and your family doc cannot answer your question, perhaps it is time to see that heart specialist.  (+ info)

tricuspid valve dilating in pregnancy?

Okay so i have been hyperventilating and i'm 10 weeks pregnant but my doc sent me for a echo just to make sure the shortness of breath wasnt anything heart related, when it came back he said that my tricuspid valve in my heart was dilated BUT he said it was common during pregnancy and should go away after i have the baby, i have searched everywhere on the web for stuff about this but havent been able to find anything he said its nothing to worry about that its my hormones causing me to hyperventilate but i cannot help but to worry over this stupid valve thing...
if anyone has ever heard of anything like this or knows somewhere with some good information i would love to hear about it!!!
----------

Many pregnant patients will complain of symptoms suggestive of cardiovascular disease, including shortness of breath, palpitation, dizziness, edema, and poor exercisa tolerance.Physical examination of the patient may also be abnormal when compared with the peregnant state.
In healthy pregnant women trivial tricuspid regurgitation is seen about 43% to 93% at term.
So, don't worry. It is completely normal.  (+ info)

Leaking Tricuspid valve question?

My Husband went to the Cardiologist after an abnormal EKG. The doctor told him he had a mild leaking tricuspid valve common in smokers. Didn't give him any medication and said it wasn't required. Told him to check it out every year or two. Is this really common? Can this get worse?? What can we do to prevent it from getting worse if anything? Will taking a baby asprin a day do anything good? He is only 33 and his father had heart problems so we want to make sure we do everything we can to prevent bad things from happening. Is he at more risk for heart attack then a normal person because of this??? Thanks!

Usually, mild tricuspid regurgitation requires little or no treatment. However, the underlying disorder, such as emphysema, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonic stenosis, or abnormalities of the left side of the heart, is likely to require treatment. Treatment of atrial fibrillation and heart failure is also necessary, but surgery to repair the tricuspid valve is rarely done unless surgery on another heart valve (for example, mitral valve replacement) is also needed. http://www.merck.com/mmhe/sec03/ch028/ch028g.html  (+ info)

I am 5 months pregnant and i just found out my baby girls tricuspid valve isnt closing all the way.Im worried.

Should i be worried and what should i expect to happen to my little girl?
----------

First of all, I'm very sorry to hear that. Hopefully the cells will divide in response to a vascular growth factor surge during the rest of development and continue to grow. If that doesn't happen, however, it'll be hard to tell, because it would reduce the pressure of blood being pumped through the body, resulting in shortness of breath, especially when lying flat. If it's mild, the kid will just have to adjust to it, but otherwise, can also receive surgery for replacement  (+ info)
