How do "Conjoined Twins" do their stuff?

Ok.. How do conjoined twins do stuff? I mean how do they get dressed and stuff? Ive seen this video on youtube about some girls. But im still questioned.. I dont get it.. Help?
----------

They probably get custom made clothing and just like us learn how to do things. except they just learn to do it in a different way.  (+ info)

What should my friend name her conjoined twins?

they are girls, just answer, i dont care if you dont beleive me.
we like unique matching names
they will be conjoined for life
----------

Anything that isn't cutesy-cutesy, matchy-matchy or rhymey-rhymey is fine with me.

Aurora and Dawn (Aurora means "dawn")
Daphne and Laura (both names mean "laurel")
Grace and Hannah (both mean "grace")
Melanie and Phoebe (Melanie means "dark", Phoebe "light")
Margaret and Pearl (Margaret means "pearl")
Eve and Zoe (both mean "life")

I think "matchy-matchy" names like those would be really cute and neat. How about Melanie Eve and Phoebe Zoe? Or Laura Grace and Daphne Hannah? Margaret Dawn and Pearl Aurora are really cute too.

Good luck on finding the perfect names!  (+ info)

Is it possible for conjoined twins to be of different gender?

...I'm so sorry about the last question! I meant to say different! LOL! Well, there you go
----------

Yes it is... but it would be very very very rare and I'm not sure it has ever happened yet. Conjoined twins have to be identical twins. Only 1 in 100,000 live births are conjoined and there have only been 4 cases of identical twins who are not the same sex so if you put those odds together you will see what I mean...

How twins are formed:

Identical twins are caused by one egg being fertilized by one sperm. Sometime after fertilization, the egg splits into two genetically identical halves. Identical twins are always of the same sex (although there has been very rare, as in only about 4 cases, of opposite sex identical because of genetic abnormality). They share 100% of their genes, and are in reality, natural clones.

Fraternal twins are formed when two eggs are released by the mother, and each egg is fertilized by a different sperm. Fraternal twins can be of the same or opposite sex. They share up to 50% of their genes, and are no more alike or different than any two siblings would be. It is also possible for fraternals to be of different races or parentage, or to be conceived at different times, resulting in a large weight difference at birth.

There is a third type of twinning that scientists are looking into, called polar body twinning, or "half identical" twinning. This occurs when the mother's egg splits before fertilization and then each half is then fertilized by a sperm. This may explain why some fraternal twins (such as the Olsen twins) look as alike as some identicals, but it hasn't been proven that it occurs.

Conjoined twins form exactly like identical twins, but at some point during the stage where the single egg splits, the process stops, and the twins develop attached to one another. This occurs in about 1 out of every 100,000 live births, but 60% of conjoined twins are either stillborn or lost in utero.  (+ info)

If two fraternal twins can merge into one in the womb, why can't there be a boy and girl conjoined?

I got the idea after watching "I Am My Own Twin," a documentary about two different women who used to have fraternal twins, but they merged with them in the womb.
----------

There can be. The occurence is so remarkably rare, that it just so happens we don't really hear about it much. Additionally, twins who merge during birth are more easily separated (since they don't likely share essential body organs), so often they would be cut apart earlier in life.  (+ info)

Can conjoined twins ever be one male and one female?

I always see them the same sex. Can they be one of each?
----------

no, conjoined twins are always identical. Male and female twins are fraternal.

You can only have identical twins that are conjoined because the conjoining happens in the early stages of pregnancy. Identical twins come from the same egg.
Fraternal twins come from different eggs and can be either of the two sexes. They have separate amniotic sacs and therefore cannot be conjoined.  (+ info)

how do conjoined twins poop if their connected by like a spider?

i need to know asap
if their connected by the butt
they are like connected by the vaginal region
----------

Hopefully they poop like everyone else does. You're description of how they are conjoined is vague.  (+ info)

How do you have conjoined twins?

is there a way to have them cause i dont want them
----------

it happens when one egg starts to split into 2 fetus'. it doent completely split and they are fused together.
its rare but it can happen. you cant pick and choose what you get.  (+ info)

How can these conjoined twins type?

I watched this video of these conjoined twins and it shows them typing stuff and driving, etc. I was wondering how the heck do they type if they both have separate brains? How do they coordinate their fingers to type if they only control one arm and hand.... It confuses me. How do they know what the other is thinking and what to type next? Not sure if I worded my question very well... Im just confused -_-. Here is the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiSuyuOOBR8
----------

Nobody really knows, and that is what they say about it.

Their doctors have theories, but nobody knows for sure. The human body is an amazing thing in the way it adapts to challenges.

BTW, the girls in the video are Abby and Brittany Hensel, and you can find more information on them by googleing them. They can do a lot more then that. They can ride a bike, they play softball and volley ball. They are two amazing young women.  (+ info)

With conjoined twins,- can one twin predecease the other?

I was fascinated and totally overawed at the stoicism of the Hensel twins. It had never occurred to me before about what happens with conjoined twins who survive and live a long life - like the Hensel twins - what happens when, and if, one twin dies - they have two hearts so it is a possibility. Does anyone know the answer?
----------

Well if one twin dies it will kill the other twin. The deceased twin's body will decay and they are still attached then the toxins released from the dead twins body will kill the other.  (+ info)

how are conjoined twins sexually active and how do they have children if possible?

I'm not some sick perv i just wanted to find this out for a school project that im working on and i wanted to be prepared for anything that i may be asked
----------

Conjoined twins obviously face challenges that others do not, in regards to dating, sex and child bearing.

It really depends on what organs are shared. If there is any reproductive sharing, then pregnancy may not be possible. Male conjoined twins, as long as testicles are not shared and the penises are independent, may be just as fertile as if they were not conjoined. Female conjoined twins however, have a very different issue as it pertains to conception and pregnancy. There may be an ovary, a half of an ovary or no ovary at all for one or both. There may not be cycles or irregular cycles or, they may not be affected at all but if there is ANY reproductive sharing, it will prose a problem with conception as well as delivery and make this very challenging.

Best of luck on your school project.  (+ info)
