Why did it hurt so bad to have my ureteral stent removed?

Everyone and all the literature says it shouldn't hurt at all to have it removed, but it did SO BADLY! Now I have to have another removed tomorrow and I'm scared to death. What do I do to make it hurt less? It's on a string taped to my leg and just having the string in alone hurts so much I've missed a week of work. What do I do?
----------

everybody's body is different And yours is responding differently than the text book patient. I can understand your being scared. Pain is not something anyone wants. I recommend you call your medical doctor immediately and ask for pain medication. Explain what is going on I'm sure the doctor will give you something that can help you deal with this better.  (+ info)

what is the size of the ureteral in women?

Could someone please tell what size is a ureteral in womens. In inches and diameter? also please compare to exsample as big around as a apple seed? and long as a what? in inches.I have kidney stone in one and im trying to figure out if it will ever pass through.
----------

It is about 6" long and is normally flattened when not carrying urine. An apple seed is a good example of the space available, but an apple seed is smooth and stones are frequently studded with corners, as you are probably finding out.  (+ info)

If I request pain medicine for my ureteral stent removal, do they have to give it to me?

All they give me is lidocaine jelly but it didn't even sting or work at all. Can I make them give me more?
----------

Talk to your Dr. and tell him what they used and the lack of effect, and request something stronger. They don't HAVE to give you anything, but they will. They don't want you to be in pain.  (+ info)

I feel like I must use the bathroom too frequently. Nothing burns when I must go, but I feel like my bladder fills up pretty quickly and I must use the bathroom? It is probably the cold weather? I also feel some sort of minor discomfort in my bladder area. Am I just thinking about it too much?
----------

Okay, I need to information. I am having lithotripsy tomorrow and having a ureteral stent put in.?

I am scared to death. What is going to happen? Anyone had this procedure done?
----------

I do not know specifically about a ureteral stent but a stent is a stent and they do the same thing regardless. The procedure is very safe with pretty minimal risk. They will insert a tiny tube into your ureter and through which they will inflate a tiny balloon catheder expanding your ureter temporarily and then they place the stent which is a little flexible tube that keeps the ureter expanded to relieve inflammation blockages etc. It is commonly used for kidney stones. Many Ureteral stents are removed within a few days to a few weeks. Good luck  (+ info)

I'm having calculi (8.43mm in diameter) in my right renal, Is SW therapy fine?

I'm having calculi (8.43mm in diameter) in my right renal, Is SW therapy fine to prevent it? Does shock wave therapy has any side effect for my kidney function?
----------

SW will break down your stone so that smaller pieces will pass out of the urinary system without or minimal pain/discomfort. Sometimes your Dr may put a stent in the ureter to let the fragments pass more easily, but unlikely in your case since your stone is relatively small. SW rarely cause kidney damage/bleeding/infection. Discuss with your Dr about the risk  (+ info)

How can kidney stones or renal calculi cause death?

Mainly " renal failure" and " 2ry hypertension" with its cardiac, and else, complications. ( of course, if nothing to deal with them was done). the usual line of management is surgery OR now can be broken using "sound/ vibration" from outside the body, into small pieces and pass out with urine, )  (+ info)

How does one treat Multiple Mobile Calculi in the liver ?

depends on the size or shape of them. they may pass on their own, or the dr may have to go in and take them out. there is also a procedure called lipotripsy, this is done in a hospital . they put you in a tub of water and aim a untrasound type device at the stones and use sonic waves to break them into smaller pieces that would then be eliminated when voiding  (+ info)
