Will penillilin cure a urinary tract/bladder infection?

I have a bad bladder or urinary tract infection and can not afford to go to the doctor.I am uninsured and struggling financially.I have some penicillin in my medicine cabinet that I got for a tooth infection several months ago and would like to know if it can be used to cure my bladder infection since it's all I have? I know amoxicillin is usually used for bladder infections but penicillin is all I have, will it work?
----------

Penicillin has about a 5% chance of working. Most community-acquired UTIs are caused by E. coli, which can be quite resistant to common drugs. You really don't want to risk that the UTI will develop into a kidney infection, which can be fatal, so you DO need to go see a doctor. If you live in a city, do a web search for a free clinic or a Planned Parenthood. You can also go to the ER, which has to treat you regardless of your ability to pay.

Seriously, it's not worth taking chances with this, and some heavy-duty antibiotics are the only thing that will get rid of it.  (+ info)

how do you treat a urinary track infection or a bladder infection?

I have to urinate frequently and it's painful and there is blood in my urine.
----------

Any time that there is blood in the urine you need to go the doctor. They need to determine where the infection is either the urinary tract , bladder or your kidneys...if you have a fever or severe abdominal pain then you need to seek emergency care..if you don't then call and make an appointment as you can. You can not treat this at home you will need antibiotics...Get Well Soon!!!  (+ info)

What would be the connection of being a tool and die maker to urinary bladder cancer?

my husband was just diagnosed with this and this was the first thing the urologist asked him.
----------

I am so sorry for you & Hubby & my thoughts are with you both .
As for the connection , alot of machinists come in contact with lead & or other toxic substances .
Here in our town we have many cases of cancer due to the toxicity of the chemicals used years ago in the Pulp Mill . Thyroid Cancers in particular

How do you know if your toddler has a urinary tract infection or bladder infection?

Something seems to be bothering my 15 mo old son, sometimes when taking a bath, but he doesn't hold his peepee or anything.
midnight- why do you assume I wasn't talking about actually NOT peeing? So quick to judge. shesh
----------

I would assume at 15 months your son is still in diapers, so the signs I would look for are, strong smelling urine, blood or pus in advanced cases, low grade fever sometimes although my kids have had them with out the fever. For the best assurance take him to the doctor.   (+ info)

what is the difference between a bladder infection and a urinary track infection?

I have the iud for about 3yrs now, and recently in the past three days i feel discomfort when i urinate. And now I'm noticing some spotting blood every time I urinate. Should i be worry and go to the Dr.?
----------

It could be a UTI, which is the same thing as a bladder infection or cystitis. In a UTI bacteria enters the normally sterile urethra (tube you pee out of) and travels up to the bladder. The waste products of the bacteria cause inflammation, which is why it burns when you pee.

This may not be a UTI. Blood in the urine is often indicative of kidney stones as well.

IUD's increase your risk of developing pelvic inflammatory disease, which is quite serious and can lead to infertility, sepsis and death.

IUD's also can become embedded in your uterus.

Basically, go to the doctor if you can, as none of these things (UTI, Stones, PID) can be treated with home remedies and the consequence of leaving PID untreated is dire.  (+ info)

How to the kidney, ureter, urinary bladder, and urethra work together?

The kidneys filter waste from your system, it then goes through the ureters to the bladder and out the urethra.

This is what Merriam-Webster has to say:

1 : one of a pair of vertebrate organs situated in the body cavity near the spinal column that excrete waste products of metabolism, in humans are bean-shaped organs about 4 1⁄2 inches (11 1⁄2 centimeters) long lying behind the peritoneum in a mass of fatty tissue, and consist chiefly of nephrons by which urine is secreted, collected, and discharged into the pelvis of the kidney whence it is conveyed by the ureter to the bladder

And then as I said, through the urethra to the toilet!

Hope this helps.  (+ info)

Is there anything I can do over the weekend to relieve bladder/urinary tract infection symptoms?

This is the worst I've had and I have to work today, so I'm willing to do just about anything to help with this! Thanks!

if you can't get to the doctor's since its the holiday, drink cranberry juice, there's something in the cranberries that help fight infection. There's also an over the counter drug call AZO i believe that 's the brand name but its an antibiotic. Drink lots of water to help flush out the infection. make sure to go to the doctor's as soon as possible.  (+ info)

How long do bladder infections/urinary tract infections last?

it started getting uncomfortable and a sensation of burning while urinating for me this morning :0
I started drinking lots of cranberry juice but how long do these last?
----------

If it burns when you urinate, see a doctor. Cranberry juice is good but will not CURE an infection. You may need antibiotics.
If it persists, see a doctor. A course of antibiotics will make a world of difference. Get it treated before it develops into something more serious involving your kidneys.

How large is a urinary bladder in a 4 year old girl?

I have a 4 year old granddaughter suffering with fetal alcohol syndrome who did not potty train until just before her 4th birthday. It seems that no matter what amount of liquid she drinks at any given time, she uses the potty to void three or four times in an hour every time she does drink any liquid.
----------

You may want her tested for diabetes. My daughter did that too but she was 22 months old. Does she drink alot of water in excess? and when she does drink it does she guzzle it down like she cant get enough? Does her breath smell fruity? if so please take her to the doctor so they can test her for diabetes it can be very dangerous! Hope she is ok I will pray for her!  (+ info)
