Cervical incompetence?

If someone has cervical incompetence will herbs help? Or is there anything that can be done about it?
Please and thank you.

There is a procedure called cerclage where a doctor literally sews the cervix shut. It's simple and effective. The stitch is removed at 37 weeks which is considered full term.  (+ info)

I had a uterine biopsy & cervical biopsy yesterday. Are these common?

The nurse told me since my last pap was normal and not that long ago that if it is cancer it'd be caught early, but I worry about needing a hysterectomy. I have never had a baby nor had female problems.
My May pap was abnormal but the one before it was normal. I wonder why these biopsies were requested.

What are some symptoms of cervical cancer?

Well my question is really for someone out there who had been diagnosed with cervical or uterine cancer. I just wanted to know what made you go to the dr in the first place. What were your symptoms?
----------

Hi I work for a website called http://icyou.com which has thousands of videos on a wide variety of health topics. I don't have cervical cancer myself but here is a link to a video we created that discusses the common signs and symptoms of cervical cancer:

If no bacteria is detected from a vaginal or cervical culture is it safe to assume the uterine culture will be negative too ?

Yes, But they do it just to be sure. They are making sure all their bases are covered.  (+ info)

Cervical incompetence question?

4 1/2 years ago I had an irregular PAP smear while I was pregnant with my son. After he was born I had a colposcomy and then later went through crytotherapy (freezing of irregular cells on my cervix) and had a biopsy done which came back negative. I have had all good PAPs since that time. My question is...I am now pregnant again with my 3rd child (the first since my procedure), what is the chance of me having cervical incompetence with this pregnancy? I know it is very common with the LEEP procedure but do the same risks run with cryotherapy?

Cervical Incompetence during pregnancy?

At 17 weeks pregnant my cervix measured 4.1cm at what rate can the cervix begin to shorten? I am asking because I had a LEEP procedure done about a year ago and its alittle scary. 4.1cm is a great number but I go to the dr every 4 weeks and I have no clue when they will measure my cervix again. Can the cervix literally go from 4.1cm to lower than 2.5cm in a matter of weeks? I am now 20 weeks.

can it be cervical/uterine cancer?

i haven't got my period for 3 months now, i've tested to see if i'm pregnant and all the results have come out negative..i have frequent urination and pelvic pain on my left side... at first the tought of having uterine cancer didn't pass through my mind but i just heard that missing periods can be caused by having cancer. i don't really know much about this that's why i'm asking...
----------

As a healthcare provider I believe it would be to your advantage to see a gynocologist or a nurse practioner (woman's health certified) to have all of these symptoms checked out. I believe it is possible that all of these are not necessarily related. You could have a urinary tract infection which would account for the frequency and pain. The lack of periods could be something entirely different. I do not think it is cancer....the problem with uterine and cervical cancer is the LACK of symptoms. Women need to have PAP tests to detect cervical cancer....because by the time there is symptoms (usually unusual bleeding) it can be too late. The pain could also be caused by a ovarian cyst. A pelvic ultrasound could be a useful test. But don't keep on worrying about it.....go see your healthcare provider. Even your primary care practioner could start to do some testing if it takes too long to get in to see a gyn specialist.  (+ info)

Can stage 0 Uterine cancer be treated with medicine if I also have a trachelectomy for cervical cancer?

I just found out that I have cervical cancer, most likely stage 1 since I didn't even have any abnormal cells as of last year. But my type is adenosquamous carcinoma and actually its mixed cell carcinoma because there are regular squamous carcinoma cells there too. Some areas are still CIS/CIN III. The scariest part is that the ECC (Endocervical canal scraping) came back positive for CIN III/CIS and possibly microinvasive. They are concerned some of the cancer could have spread to my uterus but I just don't see how it could happen so fast. I know that adenocarcinoma is more aggressive though and thats what I have so I guess thats why.

The usual treatment from my research is a radical hysterectomy. But for women like me who plan on having kids in the near future, they can usually go with a trachelectomy and just remove the cervix to preserve fertility but make sure the cancer is gone. If it comes back that I just have stage 0 Uterine cancer along with cervical cancer do you think a trachelectomy is still a possibility? I really don't want to have a full hysterectomy. It would be such a life changing and depressing thing for me, in my current stage of my life, and at only 27 years old. I don't think I could handle it emotionally and physically I can't even begin to imagine it either.

Please help. I am getting so depressed.
I am going to a top notch specialist on Friday, hes like the best at the best cancer hospital in Michigan. But I am trying to figure out some options to ease my mind a little until then. I can't sleep, I can't eat. I am falling apart.

((((HUGS))))))

I was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma in situ at 26. Luckily it was only in situ, but still the "definitive" treatment is hysterectomy. I did NOT have a hyst, and now I have a lot of follow up and prayer over it not coming back.

If the cancer has gotten up to your uterus, can you still have a trachelectomy? Unfortunately the answer is no. But why worry about that now? That is NOT you situation. You don't even have confirmation that this is past the in situ stage!!

You really need to wait and talk to a gynecologic oncologist. He will probably recommend a cold knife cone biospy of your cervix. This will let him know EXACTLY what's going on. You really need to have this (very minor) surgery as a first step.

Trachelectomy is a great option, but you don't even know that you would need that yet. If it's only in situ, the cone biopsy alone might be enough.

And seriously, having a hysterectomy would NOT ruin your life. Trust me, I was exactly where you are when I was waiting to see whather I had to have a hyst. I was FREAKED OUT. But please remember that you can have ALWAYS have kids, uterus or no.

Please email me if you want to chat. I so feel your pain.  (+ info)
