Can someone please recommend books for my toddler that simply address separation anxiety in the plot?

My son is having the normal sleep anxiety issues before he goes to sleep. We already have a routine and a consistent bed time. However, I'd like to read him a book before bed/nap that addresses the issue of separation anxiety. Will someone please recommend a story book that i can read to my son. I'd like it to reinforce the basic principles that I am here for him if he needs me even if he can't see me, or is asleep.

I haven't read these particular books, but I went looking on Amazon and came up with a few options that look pretty good.

Mama Always Comes Home (we have some other books by Karma Wilson and they are pretty good)

How do I overcome my Separation Anxiety Disorder?

Symptoms:
# Recurring distress when separated from the subject of attachment (such as the mother or home)
# Persistent, excessive worrying about losing the subject of attachment
# Persistent, excessive worrying that some event will lead to separation from a major attachment
# Excessive fear about being alone without subject of attachment

I experience all of these symptoms. I have had these problems my whole life. My mother used to be the object of this anxiety, but recently that has switched to my girlfriend (who I love more than anything and care very much about) being the subject of my worry.

What are some good treatment methods that could help me to not feel so crappy everytime the anxiety comes on?
----------

Some therapy techniques you could try (preferably with a registered counsellor/psychologist/therapist) are:
-cognitive therapy (to address any possible irrational beliefs-- see Albert Ellis' ABC method)
-cognitive-behavioural approaches such as William Glasser's Reality Therapy (addresses the disjunct between your ideal reality and your perceived reality, and empowers you to take control of your thoughts and behaviours)
-general behavioural therapies to help you take steps to overcome your anxiety

Is it normal for a 16 year old to have separation anxiety?

Whenever I do things such as spend the night at someones house, I have separation anxiety from being away from my mom. Not all the time, it kind of comes and goes, but it really been there lately. I don't know why I feel this way. I've been like this pretty much my entire life. Sometimes I make plans and if I feel like I'm going to have the anxiety, I cancel my plans or if not sometimes I don't have a good time. I don't know why I'm like this. Is it normal? Any help?

I work at a daycare center. What is the best way to deal with the 1-5 year old who have separation anxiety?

I work at a daycare center. Some 1-5 year olds have such awful separation anxiety that they won't stop crying and it seems the only thing they want is their moms. I am the only one working in the room and I never have more than 6 kids max but if I do have six and say 2 are crying, it's hard to put all my attention on just them.
----------

I would try to give them a little extra attention, but know if it is their Mom they are crying for sadly you may not be able to comfort them right away. Just be compassionate with the child and validate their feelings, "I know you love and miss your Mommy, but she will be back after naptime" or something like that.

With 4 other kids in the room you can't spend all your time with the crying ones. I would try to get out a fun activity and see if the children eventually want to play along with the rest of the kids. I would make sure to try to comfort the trying children, as long as the other children are involved in an activity and not going crazy.  (+ info)

I think my baby is experiencing separation anxiety - even when I am right next to him! Tips and tricks?

Baby is 6.5 mo and fusses ALL the time, which is not how he is usually. Only time he is not fussing is when either me or my husband are holding him. Which we can't do all day every day. Someone suggested its separation anxiety - if so, do I just wait it out? Am I supposed to be doing something special?

Here's an idea.....get off the computer and play with him.  (+ info)

How can I get help for separation anxiety?

I have had this since I was a kid. Then it went away for a bit. Now that I just moved out on my own I have been having these anxiety attacks. My g/f is mad and doesn't understand it either. I see a Doctor for my OCD every month, is this something I can bring up? I need help. I am very upset and depressed. I have talked with my Mom about this as well, and she said to talk to my doctor.
----------

Take her to therapy with you and share yourself with her on that level through the eyes and words of an impartial third party whose insight might just help her to understand something that probably frustrates her to no end because she has no experience with it and she can't help you on her own.

When people love you, especially women... They like to be the be the person who warms your soul and helps your head. Trust me, she is not angry at you, even if she can't see that herself. You need to teach her what OCD is and PTSS is... Then ask her to be the one who can love you through it when she has the proper skills to do so.

If she understands and doesn't want to be that person... then she is selfish and not worth your time no matter how much you would like her to be. and it is better to understand that aspect of her ahead of time before you put too much into someone who is only going to leave you eventually anyway and back up a fear that you already live with...

Understand?

I wish you peace and love and I hope that everything works out for you.  (+ info)
