How is nonpolyposis colorectal cancer discovered if there are no polyps to detect during sigmoi/colonoscopy?

I'm trying to understand what the early symptoms of this form of colorectal cancer are and how they differ from classic adenomatous CRC. If you are qualified to answer this question, I appreciate your answer and thank you in advance.
----------

This is a rare hereditary cancer so you would be genetically tested. There are no early symptoms and you should never wait for symptoms. It is recommended that screening start 5years before the age of the youngest family member at diagnosis.  (+ info)

Hereditary?.........?

Are mental disorders (like OCD, depression, anxiety) hereditary? If it can be hereditary, can it be treated once and for all without recurrences.
----------

Nobody knows for sure if the conditions you mention are genetically hereditary. Some say they are, others claim you learn a certain way to handle life from your parents or relatives. Since human beings are pretty complex creatures, my best guess is that the truth lies somewhere in between. That you may inherit a certain sensitivity or an inclination to develop anxiety, depression and/or OCD, but if you get the right upbringing, the symptoms may never appear or be less severe than if you have a really bad childhood.

Children learn how to act and react under pressure from their parents. If the parents are prone to panicking or giving up when things get rough, it's likely that their kids copy their behaviour. It's also a very frightening experience for a kid when their parents flip, which in itself can lead to mental disorders.

As for psychosis and schizophrenia, scientists believe they're hereditary to some extent, but of course not 100%.

Most mental disorders can be successfully treated but if and when life changes, certain symptoms may recur, particularly under stress, like if a child or relative dies, you lose your job or get seriously ill etc. If you suffer from these disorders, you can learn effective ways of coping with the symptoms and may not need treatment more than once. Others may have to try different methods before they find what's working for them.

Most people have one or a few hangups, like phobias. The most common explanation is that the real daredevils, who weren't afraid of anything, didn't live long enough to procreate. As long as you're able to control your fear and don't let it limit your life, things are cool.   (+ info)

What is the connection between malignant neoplasms and crabs?

The more common term for malignant neoplasms, cancer, is Latin for crab, and the word "carcinogen," meaning a cancer-causing agent, comes from the Greek word for crab, "karkinos." What is the connection between these two seemingly unrelated things?
----------

Cancer, both the disease and the astronomical constellation, derive from the Latin cancer or cancrum, meaning crab. The astrological sign, of course, is said to resemble a crab and the disease was so named by the ancient Greek physician Galen (129-200 A.D.) who noted the similarity between a certain type of tumor with a crab as well—the swollen veins around the tumor resembling the legs of a crab.

Old English adopted cancer directly from Latin and used it for a variety of spreading sores and ulcers. This early sense survives in the modern word canker. From c.1000 in a manuscript called Læce Boc (Leech Book), collected in Oswald Cockayne’s Leechdoms, Wortcunning, and Starcraft of Early England, Vol. II, 1865:

Gemeng wið þam dustum, clæm on ðone cancer.
(Mix with the dust, smear on the cancer.)

And from Wyclif’s 2 Timothy, 1382:

The word of hem crepith as a kankir

The word was being applied specifically to the disease we today call cancer by the beginning of the 17th century. From Philemon Holland’s translation of Pliny’s Historie of the World:

Cancer is a swelling or sore comming of melancholy bloud, about which the veins appeare of a blacke or swert colour, spread in manner of a Creifish clees.

The astronomical sense of cancer is from the Latin name for the constellation of the crab. The name was known to the Anglo-Saxons, but only as a Latin name and was not assimilated into English until the Middle English period. It appears in Ælfric’s De Temporibus Anni, written c.993, in a list of the constellations of the Zodiac:

Feorða • Cancer • þæt is Crabba
(Fourth, Cancer, that is the crab.)

The Anglicized name appears c.1391 in Chaucer’s Treatise on the Astrolabe:

In this heved of cancer is the grettist declinacioun northward of the sonne...this signe of cancre is clepid the tropik of Somer.
(At this first point (head) of cancer is the greatest declination northward of the sun…this sign of cancer is named the tropic of summer.)

How rare are stomach and/or colorectal cancer occurances in teenagers?

Also, does obesity dramatically increase the chances of a teen getting stomach and/or colorectal cancer?
----------

Those two are extremely rare in a teen. Colorectal cancers are usual in the elderly, or tend to run in families. Stomach cancers are as well, very rare in teens. My husband, in general family practice, has never seen either in 25 years of practice.  (+ info)

What body systems does Colorectal Cancer effect?

I am researching Colorectal Cancer for a school assignment, and I wanted to know all of the body systems that were affected by it. I've looked at several sites and have gotten very little info on the body systems, though I've found other info that I was looking for. If you are a medical professional and know about body systems, I'd appreciate your help:)
----------

Colorectal cancer affects the colon and the rectum-the rectum is the lower part of the large bowel (colon is a term for large bowel). Colorectal cancer can stay confined to the bowel and the bowel wall, or it may spread to lymph glands within the abdominal cavity. It can also spread through the bowel wall into the surrounding tissues. Once the tumour cells get into the lymphatic and blood vessels, it can spread around the body. This is called metastasis-the tumour can metastasise to many different sites in the body, the most common being the liver, the lungs and the bones.  (+ info)

How can I make my hereditary dark circles disappear without a lot of makeup?

my under-eye bags are unfortunately hereditary and I don't want to have to apply all this makeup in the morning to hide them. could I just do concealer and powder? or do I absolutely have to take the extra time? help!
----------

no! all you need is lotion concealer and powder. make sure the concealer is one shade lighter than your skin tone. apply lotion under your eyes. dab the concealer under your eyes, focusing on the inner corner, blending out wards. after you all blended apply powder to your face and your good to go.

tips:

1.) you dont want to "erase" the dark circles because you will look fake. you just want to make the circles less noticleble.

2.) you can put teabags on your eyes the night before to reduce puffyness

good luck!  (+ info)
