i have an 18 month old with reflux and occassional cyanosis?

hi, 1 have an 18 month old who has had gastric reflux since he was born. i breastfed him for 20 hours a day due to him vomiting. i then had to bottle feed him to give him medication. he vomited approx 20 times a day up to 10 months when he stopped. from then he becomes cyanosed, his lips go bluish and very pale. he is under the drs and they say its due to his reflux and although he doesnt vomit anymore , he is refluxing into his oesophegus. this was diagnosed with barium. has anyone had experience with reflux and cyanosis. his weight gain is good now he is not vomiting and he is still on infant gaviscon, omeprizole and domperidone. he has had no heart scans. should i trust the docs or be concerned. he can wake up bluish.also worse when cold or unwell. only helpful comments please.

I am having a nightmare of a time with my infant who has gastric reflux. I looked all over online trying to find help with our problems....and I found this community that is very very helpful. Its Infantrefluxdisease.com The entire community is mothers with children who have had all different variations of this problem. On the message board you can get answers to any question...with some serious help! Its free and its moms just like us who are frustrated and concerned. I hope this helps a little....I would also get your dr to refer you to a GI specialist if they havent already. :)  (+ info)

one of my nails looks blue. could this be cyanosis?

could mean that you are getting poor blood circulation to that finger, if your other fingers start turning blue you need to get medical help soon, could be a symptom of heart problems, or lack of oxygen.  (+ info)

cyanosis of the back?

what is it??? Laymans terms please!!
----------

cyanosis is a blue discoloration..caused by lack of oxygen in the blood.

in shock it would most evident in the hands, lips...capilary rich areas first.

Some discoloration can happen if circulation was removed from and area ..like a tourniquet on an arm.

Cyanosis of the back?...no bloody idea....cant be good.

Lividity...blood pooling in the back. as dependent ( ie gravidity down ) is an obvious sign of death...after a few hours of being dead.

who has this cyanosis?  (+ info)

blue fingers also know as cyanosis, i am concerned?

the family member has been drinking a bottle of red wine every night for the past 20 years and washing it down with valium. he has been doing this for years and years.

yesterday i noticed his fingers were blue along with his lips. i know he is not well although he wont admit it to me. he said he was cold and it was chilly but not that bad. I am suspecting heart problems. he is pushing himself to the limit and remaining very active to the point of exhaustion. this person is not well and I am concerned. but he is stubborn and wont listen to anyone. i didnt get a chance to see his fingers but i am sure the color came back in them. I think he has a real heart problem what do you think

i have an 18 month old with reflux and intemmitant cyanosis?

my 18 month old was diagnosed with reflux when he was 6 weeks old. he used to vomit 20 times plus a day and was started on infant gaviscon, not much help with the vomiting. he was referred to peaditrician . weight gain okish to poor. now at 18 months weight gain good 25-50th centile and is on 4 different drug treatments . he stopped actively vomiting at 10 months but began to have cyonotic eposodes where his lips were purple. didnt bother him. paeds say this is becaues he is still refluxing without vomiting. he still has regular "blue" do's but is generally fit and well. he has had barium meal to say he still does reflux severley and has been put on more medication to empty his stomach. has anyone had similar experiences like this with reflux. his "blue " do's are worse when he is unwell and can last from a few minutes to hours. does this sound like typical reflux or should i be concerned that it is more serious. drs seam unconcerned at present time as he is well and gaining weight.

I know some one with a little girl that was diagnosed with possible CFA (a lung disease) but they found that she was breathing in her stomach fluids through reflux. She has since had an operation and is fine.

Blue lips are a sign of oxygen shortage and I thought that your doctors would be concerned about that.  (+ info)

donating blood and lowered immune system, coupled with serious heart problems?

i am concerned, my dad gave blood, he is 72 years old with a heart condition, shows signs of cyanosis, has congestive heart failure, a liver condition, and kidney issues. Ok so he gave blood last week. he is drinking a bottle of wine every night for the last 25 years. I would guess his immune system is not good. Ok so here is my question.

1. In a weaker person, what happens when they donate blood if they are already weak?

2. what complication could this lead to?

3. could this put extra strain on the heart?

I am looking for real answers. thank you

The Kidneys regulate production and release of red blood cells. The liver with its many functions,a complement of proteins that plays a part in the immune system's defenses against infections. When his body is all ready compromised I don't think it is a good idea to donate blood, may take his body much longer to produce blood. May deplete his electrolytes. Its' great that he does donate but it is time so; Be gently when you tell him not to donated blood.  (+ info)

HELP...If you lack iron in your body/blood, can it lead to bluish colour around your lips/fingers?

If you lack iron in your body/blood, can it lead to bluish colour around your lips/fingers?

im not necessarily talking about cyanosis but in general if you lack iron can it lead to that....bluish colour etc...
----------

I don't know but I really think this is a question for Google to answer, not Y!A.
People on here tend to give crappy answers in relation to medical issues, but on Google you can find information from real doctors on medical websites.

The only advice I can give is bluish colour in toes, fingers, lips etc. usually means bad circulation, which leads to lack of oxygen in blood. Oxygen is carried by RED blood cells, so naturally when there isn't enough in a certain area that area will turn purple or blue.

If bad circulation is what is causing the discolouration, I still think you should hop on Google and find out what may be causing the bad circulation.

Do you have any other symptoms?  (+ info)
