What to use to get rid of acne caused by hormones from cysts?

I've had ovarian cysts for sometime, and one of the most annoying things is the acne. I am 26 but am tired of this, it makes me look 17. I use Clean and Clear everyday to wash my face and the astringent in the morning. Any suggestions? Every time I get a cyst my face breaks out.

So, I'm guessing that you were officially diagnosed with PCOS, correct? I was diagnosed with it as well as my sister. Her doctor prescribed her glucophage and she's seeing a difference already.
Typically, when you have PCOS, there are several meds that can be prescribed to help you keep everything in check - metformin and glucophage are probably the most common. A good doctor can check your blood work to see what meds what balance you out best.
I would recommend a great gyno instead of a family practice doc.  (+ info)

What are the chances of infertility for women who have monthly ovarian cysts?

I'm going in for my first ultrasound this week to see if there are any existing ovarian cysts that I may have. I've had terribly painful cysts for the last two/three months, with pain lasting a minimum of four hours. I'm only seventeen, and would like to raise a family someday. What are my odds of infertility? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I was diagnosed at 20 with PCOS and I am now 25 years old. I have had alot of trouble getting pregnant. I HAVE been pregnant 2 times since the diagnosis, unfortunatly the 1st ended in miscarriage and the 2nd baby was still born Christmas Day 2009. NEITHER WHERE DUE TO THE CYSTS. We have been trying for 8 months now with no luck. Probably due to my cysts acting up and I havent had my period in the last 8 months either. If you are worried about it, I found some remedies that help concieve. Friends of mine have used it with real success, I have not tried it yet but am hopeful Its call Fertility Blend, you can find it at most GNC stores. All will be okay, either way. Good Luck!  (+ info)

What are the possible causes of retinal cysts?

Or, is there anyone with personal experience of retinal cysts? Friend of mine has retinal cysts, many in the left eye, 1 or 2 in the right eye. Yes, he's lived in various countries in Africa so parasites are potentially to blame. But, if so, which ones? Is there anything other than parasites that it could be? Cited articles preferred – thanks.
----------

Most retinal cysts are caused by heredity. I really don't know of any other causes. This disorder is called retinoschisis and is predominately found in males.

There is oodles of information of this on the web, some links are:

Some pages cover more than this eye specific disorder so you need to page down to the part labelled retinoschisis.  (+ info)

What is the exact difference between Polycystic Cysts and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome?

Besides Polycystic Cysts are cysts on the ovaries.
What other differences are there?
the thing that has me confused is that I have pcos (massive cysts on both ovaries, irregular periods, insulin resistence).
A friend of mine told me her Dr told her there is two forms (hence my Q.) and that there is difference between them. I couldn't find what was different with PCOS itself.
----------

You can get cysts but not have pcos. Many other things like irregular periods, diabetes, insulin resistance, and obesity come along with pcos. Pcos stands for polycystic ovarian syndrome.  (+ info)

What are the different feeling of cysts on your ovaries, and ovulation?

Im trying to determine if i have cysts on my ovaries or not, i notice twinging off and on but it is SOOO slight you can barely feel it.
----------

If you are just experiencing the odd twinge it's probably ovulation (Depending on the cycle day etc.) If you are doubled over, feeling sick to your stomach and could have spotting once in a while I'd say cyst on ovary. Cysts are painful and can make you hurt so bad you can barely walk...  (+ info)

How can i get rid of cysts in the pubic area?

I have been having cysts in my pubic area very frequently. sometimes they will grow up to the size of a nickel, then they bust and grow back. I would like to get rid of them. I am not sexually active but could it still be an STD? I already know that I should go to the doctor...just want your opinion first.
----------

It soumds very much like boils. If it is:

Ask your doc to culture the pus. Beg hir if necessary! It's especially important to have the culture done if you've had surgery or been hospitalized before this started, because some germs are resistant to some antibiotics, and can be picked up more easily in hospitals than in the community.

Then ask about an Rx for an antibiotic to which the bug (it's probably some kind of staph infection) is sensitive. You should also ask for Bactroban ointment to put in your nose twice a day for 5 days each month until the tube is empty.

People often have a colony of staph living in the nasal passages. These usually don't cause any problems, but recurrent boils, abscesses--what you described--are one of the problems they certainly DO cause.

I suffered from boils all over the place, and each time I had one treated, they'd lance it, put me on antibiotics, it'd go away, and one or two weeks later another would pop up. This in SPITE of the fact that I kept insisting that I had a history of a resistant bug. ~sigh~ It took several years--because of insurance--to get to someone who would listen to me.

I did the research and knew what treatment I needed, but ~I~ can't write a script, so I had to wait until I was hospitalized with shaking chills 'til I finally got the treatment I needed. You feel somewhat foolish whining about a little infection, but those suckers hurt REALLY bad, and the fact is, they are dangerous.

I haven't had another since the treatment in December.

Be persistent, bug the docs, do some research at REPUTABLE sites, and good luck.

Meanwhile, warm, wet compresses for pain, wash your hands constantly, keep your fingers off the owies (yeah, right, but you should) and call the doc again.  (+ info)

How can one rid themselves of sebaceous cysts?

I've found the last couple of years that I've been getting sebaceous cysts? Does anybody know how I can get rid of them myself, without having to go to the doctor?
Is squeezing sebaceous cysts harmful?
----------

You don't say where they are, but don't squeeze them! This is dangerous and can cause infection!!

I've had several cysts in different places and the only way to get rid of them is to leave them alone and they will go on their own, even if it takes several months.

You can try pressing a hot compress (like a washcloth in hot water, or a wheatbag) on the area for a few minutes a couple times a day, this can certainly help to reduce them if you keep at it.

One excellent tip that a doctor gave me and helped clear mine up was to take flaxseed oil capsules - 1000 mg a day. The oil helps to clear the blockage. This helped me so much and I continue to take it and I haven't had one since! Flax is also really good for you anyways :)

Good luck x  (+ info)
