What does an endometrial biopsy feel like?

How bad does it hurt? Is the pain intolerable? Is it like getting a cone biopsy?
----------

I have never had this procedure done, but my best friend did and she actually had surgery to fix the endometrosis she had. My best friend is the wimpiest, whinest girl in the world and she got threw it.

No pain is intolerable. No matter how painful it is, you are going to get through it.

They give you drugs and you will be fine in a couple of days.

Good luck.  (+ info)

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get an endometrial ablation after giving birth?

I am having my tubes tied after I have my baby and I wanted to know if I can also have the endometrial ablation done at the same time or if I have to wait. I plan on asking my doctor of course but I thought I might see if anyone on yahoo knew.
----------

No, they wont do the two procedures at the same time. And if you are having the EA to help with heavy periods, the TL will give you heavier and longer periods more cramping. That is the most common side effect and normally women are prescribed the pill to help regulate periods after tl.
Your doctor may suggest a hysterectomy instead of doing those two procedures since most women eventually end up getting one anyone after tl.. be sure to ask your dr his failure rate or word it to him 'repeat rate' for EA and if he does rollerball , how long he sees the EA last on average in his patients &
method. You also need to ask which method of TL he does and do some research online to make sure that is what you want and that you understand fully the risks to your health. I would strongly suggest holding off on any procedure till 6 months after your baby is born especially if you decide to breastfeed. There's an increased risk of infection in the 3 months window after having a baby.  (+ info)

Chances an Ulcer are related to Endometrial Cancer?

While being treated for a bleeding Ulcer, my mother mentioned having a slight vaginal discharge, witch has turned out to be Endometrial Cancer.
Could the Cancer be the cause of the ulcer?

We are meeting with an Oncologist this week. But I thought someone might have some ideas.

Thanks.
----------

It would be very unlikely and unusual for that to happen. Did she have an EGD to find the ulcer? If so, the doctor would have taken a biopsy and that would have shown endometrial cancer if it were the cause.  (+ info)

Can you have a successful pregnancy after an endometrial ablation?

I had one after my daughter was born and am now ready to conceive with my fiance. I want to be able to give him a baby of his own. Just hoping not to be let down.
----------

No. When you had the ablation the doctor should have explained (and you would have signed a consent form saying that you understood) that you could no longer become pregnant. The endometrium is gone -- no place for an egg to implant. If you WERE to become pregnant (VERY unlikely, but possible), it would be very risky for you, and the fetus would not survive -- which is why most docs will do a tubal ligation at the same time.)  (+ info)

What is more uncomfortable or feels worse? an endometrial biopsy or having the gyno insert an IUD? ?

already had the biopsy a while back but the birth control pills are not working to stop the heavy bleeding. seeking serious answers from women who have had both procedures done, thanks!
----------

If you had a biopsy done then you will be fine getting an IUD. It will feel similar. I had an IUD put in and have seen many biopsies done. They use a clamp on the cervix to stabalize it the same way.  (+ info)

My mother has endometrial cancer, what is the average life expectancy of most patients?

She is in her late forties, has asthma, uses one lung, and she has had a history of tb.
Please leave a helpful answer, Thank you!
----------

Hi,
Sorry to hear this.

It depends on what stage the cancer is. The five year survival rates for endometrial cancer by stage are: 90%, stage I; 60%, stage II; 40%, stage III; and 5%, stage IV.

Apart from treatment, family support is very crucial for cancer patients so do let her know you'll be there for her.  (+ info)

Is it ok to have an endometrial ablation if you have normal periods.?

I have normal periods but want to have endometrial ablation to do away with them (or cut flow to vey light) because they are inconvenient, tired of buying tampons, worried I may have an accident while swimming, etc. Getting pregnant is not desired. What are the pros and cons of having the procedure just to do away with inconvenience? Any doctors out there?
----------

Have you had children already? If you have not then it is not likely that a doctor will do this procedure for you as it essentially makes the lining of the uterus unable to sustain a pregnancy. I work in an operating room and have observed many of these procedures. You are put under general anesthesia so all the risks asscociated with anesthesia is something you have to consider. As with any surgery you have the risk of infection afterwards. I would not seek advice for a potential surgery on here where you do not have the ability to check people's credentials. Call your OB/GYN and set up an appointment to discuss the pros, cons and alternatives. One such alternative is the latest pill they have out where you get your period 4 times a year (I think it is 4). I would recommend if you do not want to set up an appt. and you want info from the web that you do a search on the topics and make sure the source is reputable (ie. manufacturers web site, medical center's web sites). I hope this helps!  (+ info)

My mother has been diagnosed with endometrial cancer. She has had symptoms for 2 yrs, how bad is this?

My mother has just been diagnosed with endometrial cancer and I am worried sick. She has had the symptoms for almost 2 years but her doctor told her nothing was wrong. How long does it take for this type of cancer to spread?
----------

I’m sorry, but you are not giving enough information to be able to answer your question. 97% of patients with endometrial cancer have vaginal bleeding. If the patient is postmenopausal with vaginal bleeding she should be considered to have endometrial cancer until proven otherwise. Most endometrial cancers spread by direct extension and about 75% are diagnosed when the cancer is confined to the uterus (stage 1). I can only hope in your mother’s case she has had tests and the cancer was not evident until now making it likely to still be confined to the uterus.   (+ info)

do you know of any vitamins or herbs or holistic medicines that build the endometrial lining?

my mom had breast cancer and cant have estrogen or progesteran. does anyone know of a medication or something that is natural and will help build the endometrial lining?
----------

Well this is influenced hormonally. If possible try Soy there are some natural hormones in soy. The problem may be that she cannot have soy either because of the phytoestrogens in it. Other than that the answer to your question is no herbs will do this only hormones.  (+ info)
