fissure in ano cure which operation?

there's no curative operation for fissure in ano..
the current treatment regimens is to enhance your diet with lots of fibers and drink lots of water, and that's to prevent constipation at all, or if u can't keep up a diet, some laxatives or fibro-laxatives are better.. as long as there's constipation, fissure in ano will recur..
also, sitz baths are another way to go..
and some lubricating gels that contains some anesthetics can take the pain away..  (+ info)

What is the difference between Anal Fissure/ Fistula and Hemorrhoid?

I got an abscess which became Anal Fistula. I am not understanding is it Anal Fistula/ Fissure or Hemorrhoid?

How to know the difference.
----------

Let me define things first. An anal fistula is an abnormal communication or tunnel between your rectum towards your anus, it is commonly caused by an anal abscess, which you said you had. so even though your abcess may have healed, there is now a skin tract or tunnel from your rectum, towards your anus, this tract will stay there until you have surgery done.what is done is usually called a fistulectomy,or fistulotomy. tracts can course either to the front or towards your back.tracts towards the front are straight while tracts towards the back are curved.if it really is a fistula, i recommend you see a surgeon and have an operation done.the tract might get infected and will lead to more pain and suffering on your part, not to mention possible complications.
An anal fissure on the other hand is simply a nick or wound in your anal area, usually superficial but still painful and very prone to infection.usually it is caused by trauma or passing of hard stools.
The ano-rectal region has a rich blood supply and veins, these veins sometimes get inflamed, enlarge and form what we call hemorrhoids. though usually seen in pregnant women, men are not spared. there are external hemorrhoids, which are superficial, and internal hemorrhoids which are deeper. hemorrhoids usually present as painful masses which come out during a trip to the toilet. some hemorrhoids go back in by themselves, some don't. some may bleed, some dont. in any case, a surgical consult is warranted.
So, what do you have?
If you feel that you have a superficial wound in your anus, it might be a fissure.
If there is a small hole beside your anus that may or may have no secretions, it may be an anal fistula.
If you feel a mass that seems to be attatched to your anus or it seems coming from inside, it may be a hemorrhoid.
Go see a doctor so that you can get treated before it gets worse.
i hope this helps.  (+ info)

What happens if you keep disrupting an anal fissure?

I am a hard wiper. I'm sorry to sound a bit gross, but each time I wipe now hard or soft it bleeds just a tiny bit. I'm pretty sure its an anal fissure, but what happens if you keep making it bleed?
----------

ive had the same problem. seriously... the words anal fissure sound so bad.. like a huge open wound in your butt.
it took me a few seconds to work out what the heck you meant to say.
'a small cut in my butt' would better describe the situation. Ive had heaps in the past, - they do heal over time by themselves. just make sure you wash well.

jeez... i remember when i did a nasty so big i actually ripped a bit. nasty.

just give it time.  (+ info)

What is the treatment of anal fissure (a cut or wound in anus or rectum) besides surgery.?

I have anal fissure for last two years. I feel severe pain and burning during and after bowel movement which remains from few minutes to few hours sometimes. I have applied several creams, ointments, herbal ointments but no benefit. I have also chronic constipation. I also eat vegetables, drink lots of water, take fibre but no benefit. Please help I shall pray for this forever.
----------

I feel your pain- been there and it's horrible. the constipation will unfortunately make you strain for bowel movements and will not help the area heal. Take laxatives to soften your stools because as long as the constipation is there the fissure will not get better. Keep using creams- prep H is a good one and can help soothe the area. I found baths helped a bit as did using lubricant when I had a bowel movement. I also used cold compresses on the affected area. Cold worked for me but I have heard that heat can also help. However, I would recommend seeing a doc. 2 years is a long time to suffer this and it must make you miserable- I remember crying over the pain sometimes and it really got me down.  (+ info)

Does an anal fissure feel similar to giving birth to a sandpaper baby?

sometimes when I poop it feel like I am sh!tting broken glass or giving birth to a sandpaper baby (only for a couple seconds) I am wondering if I may have an anal fissure?

I drink lots of water, eat much fiber, don't have dangle berries (piles/haemorrhoid's) or anything like that.

If I do have one how can I heal it?
----------

Why Yes it does sadly. I have an Anal Fissure Right Now :( I have to take a warm bath daily, use baby wipes when I go to the bathroom, and use preparation H everyday for at least 2 weeks because they can come back and if they keep coming back you will have scar tissue which then leads to surgery. I also have to take a stool softener and drink lots of water. I have Lots of pain and blood! ick. They can take MONTHS to heal :(  (+ info)

I have IBS and an anal fissure which is causing me extreme pain - can anyone suggest anything?

I have been using Prep H wipes when I go to the loo and Germoloids ointment and suppositories to help with the fissure. Unfortunately both of the Germoloids products say not to use more than four times in any 24 hour period - as I'm going to the loo much more than this (because of the IBS), and each time I do the fissure opens up again, I need something else to help. Can anyone give any other advice please?
----------

I empathise totally. IBS is bad enough without the added pain of a fissure. I know the usual advice for anal fissure is to drink plenty of fluids, get plenty of dietary fibre to keep the stool soft and use local anaesthetic creams and hot baths for pain relief, which I am sure you are doing, but as you well know IBS has a mind of its own when it comes to what kind of stools you produce. A relatively new and effective treatment of anal fissure is Glyceryl Trinitrate (GTN) ointment, which is thought to work by reducing anal spasm and increasing blood flow , helping to reduce pain and heal the fissure more quickly. Make an appointment and discuss it with your GP. All the best.  (+ info)
