How to understand the entence: "The right kidney is atrophic, but otherwise unremarkable."?

The sentence " The right kidney is atrophic, but otherwise unremarkable" is very difficult to understand.
Does it mean "the right kidney is absolutely atrophic" ?
Or it means " The right kidney is not surely atrophic, for it is not atropohic because it is not clear.
Or is there any other understanding for the sentence ?
----------

unremarkable - in hospital terms means normal. or another way to put it - nothing really to comment about.

atrophic - i.e. atrophy, a wasting away of the body or of an organ as from defective nutrition or nerve damage.

So depending on the age and condition of the patient - older patient, it sounds very normal. If this is a young person, what are you doing to cause your kidney to atrophy?

What's the difference between nausea due to pregnancy and due to gastritis?

What's the difference between nausea due to pregnancy and due to gastritis?
is there any difference? i've been feeling this nausea almost whole day and when i pressed my gastric, I didn't feel pain like what I used to feel when I had gastritis.

what i meant was i haven't taken any pregnancy test yet and 3 days late...so i'd like to know if this is gastritis or due to pregnancy?

and please don't say.. go to doctor or do a pregnancy test
----------

I got gastritis now yes its serious symptoms but this is how you tell the difference eat somthing greasy and spicy go lay down if ur in pain within min you got gastritis if you get sick after eating or thinking about food or if your heart burn is constant yes you got gas. ok being pregnant if your stomach feel fluttery and you just dont feel yourself and a little quezzy then i would ck to see if its pregnacy but you cant tell if your pregnant untill your a month which i guess you would be consdering your 3 days late you always get a cramping feeling before your period comes on so if your not feeling that i would be a little worried also if your period does not come in 4 more days your pregnant! unless you got irregular periods well quick stressing cuz that can change your periods too and if you didnt know your period changes around ery 6 months so u could be going through changes your period will not always be on the same day.  (+ info)

What are some home remedies for gastritis?

Can coconut water help with gastritis?
Please inform me with all possible home remedies for gastritis.
----------

Coconut water is an excellent remedy for gastritis. It gives the stomach the necessary rest and provides vitamins and minerals. The stomach is greatly helped in returning to a normal condition if nothing but coconut water is given during the first twenty-four hours.

Aloe Vera has been shown to be effective with digestive problems. Aloe Vera contains gibberlin and polysaccharides, which effectively decrease inflammation and promote healing. Aloe Vera is an effective pain reliever because it contains salicylic acid, the same pain killing agent found in aspirin. It also contains magnesium which helps prevent the damaging side effects of aspirin-type medications.
Get a good quality Aloe Vera juice either online or at a health food store.

Gastritis in many patients may also be helped by several amino acids given as supplements. The results of a scientific study, where dosages of cysteine at 200 mg’s was administered, 4 times a day to fifty-six people, who had bleeding gastritis brought on by the use of some NSAIDs- non steroidal anti-inflammatory medication, like aspirin, looks promising as a potential treatment option. The recovery from and healing of the damage brought by gastritis may be possible through cysteine which is an essential amino acid that is rich in sulfur. Preliminary results from another study showed that 1 to 4 grams a derivative of N-acetyl cysteine if administered to individuals with the atrophic form of gastritis for a period of 4 weeks seemed to increase the rate of healing and recovery. The gastric cellular structure and the cells themselves depend partly on glutamine as a major source of energy; its other property may be an ability to increase the flow of blood to the area. The results of supplementing the diet of burn victims with the amino acid glutamine, showed that the development of stress ulcers was reduced, even after repeated operations and so this amino acid hold some promise as a possible treatment option. To what extent glutamine supplementation in cases of gastritis acts in preventing or in aiding the existing conditions of the disease remains unclear and is a largely speculative option. The protection of the stomach and an increased blood flow in the stomach has been suggested in evidence from preliminary research done on the possible utilization of the amino acid L-arginine as a treatment option; however the effects arginine has on people with gastritis remains to be investigated.  (+ info)

Rice gruel is another excellent remedy for acute cases. One cup of rice gruel is recommended twice daily. In chronic cases where the flow of gastric juice is meagre, such foods as require prolonged vigorous mastication are beneficial as they induce a greater flow of gastric juice.

Potato juice has been found valuable in relieving gastritis. The recommended dose is half a cup of the juice, two or three times daily, half an hour before meals.

The herb marigold is also considered beneficial in the treatment of gastritis. An infusion of the herb in doses of a tablespoon may be taken twice daily.

Eat at regular times each day. Do not divide your food into six small meals unless you have trouble getting enough to eat. Eating too often can increase the acid in your stomach.

Keep your intake of milk and dairy products to 3 servings per day or less. Choose lowfat or fat-free dairy foods whenever possible. This will also help control stomach acid production.

Alcohol, black and red pepper, chilies, chili powder, and hot peppers often irritate the stomach lining. Foods with caffeine can increase the amount of stomach acid. These foods include coffee (regular and decaf), teas, colas, cocoa, chocolate. Avoid or limit these items if they cause you pain.

Limit your intake of tomatoes, tomato juice, peppermint, fatty foods, and citrus juices. If they cause heartburn or pain in your esophagus. You may need to limit seasonings such as onions, garlic, cinnamon, and cloves.

Eating high fiber foods does not worsen stomach pain for most people with ulcers or gastritis. High fiber foods include whole grains, cooked dried beans, and fruits and vegetables with peels.

You may notice that some foods cause you to have extra gas. This may include broccoli, cabbage, onions, milk, cooked dried beans and peas, and some fruits.  (+ info)
