Gastritis sufferers what do you eat to sooth your stomach?

I was diagnosed with Gastritis and everything I eat makes the gas pain worse. What helps you? I appreciate any serious suggestions. I take Protonix and Gas-x (Simethicone) I may also have Gastropareses but the tests aren't back.
----------

Eat soluble fiber. This includes potatoes (baked, broiled, mashed - not fried - and little butter or sour cream), white breads like rolls and toast and bagels (again, little dairy), applesauce, beans, white rice (some seasoning is OK, but not a lot). I am following the IBS diet for my gas and bloating, and I have to take Gas-X only in a blue moon. By cutting back on dairy (you could be lactose intolerant), you soothe the stomach. By using soluble fiber to begin and end meals, you are giving the stomach something incredibly bulky yet not upsetting (ie, bland) on which to concentrate, with some of the other foods you like in between. As long as you try to eat small meals, and 2 soluble fiber snacks, the gas should dissipate. By reducing gas causing foods in the interim (carbonated beverages, sorbitol in the sugar-free gums, and others, you will do you stomach a world of good.

Is Cipro good to take if I have a stomach infection or gastritis?

I have been nauseated for about 3 months, went to the doctor and was tested for H. Pylori. It came back negative. He put me on Cipro. One of the side affects is nausea and I already have tons of discomfort from the gastritis? Also could doxycyline be any better for this condition. I appreciate any answers, I am so sick and miserabe. Thanks
----------

I can say from my experiences with Cipro it does cause more stomach and intestinal problems. Also doxycyline is very hard on the digestive track. Your doctor could also give you Zofran to help with the nausea.

I have found that Aloe Vera is great healer for the stomach and intestinal track. It can take the stomach a month to get back to normal.  (+ info)

Can I eat hummus when I have chronic gastritis?

I have chronic gastritis and I wanna check if I eat hummus, will it spark off the pain. Thanks.
----------

For many with your condition, garlic is a no-no. Try to find a type of hummus (if possible) with no garlic. Or better yet, make your own!  (+ info)

Is this normal stool for someone with gastritis?

My stool is not yellow but when i wipe it is yellow. Is this normal if i have gastritis or acid reflux?
----------

No this is not normal. You could have blood in your stomach, but then the stool would be tarry and black. Yellow hmmm....call a doctor if it doesnt go away in a few days. the only cure for gastritus is to watch what you eat. be kind to your stomach. no more beer, wine or booze or colas for you kid. just drink water maybe iced chamomile tea. Try cooking a meat loaf and make sandwiches. You need a cook book.  (+ info)

Do you know the best medicine for your gastritis ?

The best permanent cure for gastritis is one glass of Passion fruit cordial two times a day for 10 days. Please try for permanent cure. The answer is given with the question. I just want to help people with this illness.
----------

A new bacterium called h.plori was found to be the cause of many kinds of gastritis. Right off the bat, you should see a doctor to have that specific anti-biotic. Yes, you can get rid of it permanantly if you follow the instructions. It takes a combination of drugs.

I have Gastritis and an ulcer, would some meds make it worse?

Was recently diagnosed with a severe case of Gastritis and a bleeding stomach ulcer from stress. I am 23 years old, which feels a bit young to have it, but I do stress severely...
I read somewhere that Ibuprofen and Aspirin should be avoided as it will be damaging. I have a severe headache right now and I usually take 400mgs Ibuprofen. Should I take it?
Only other pain meds I have is Aspirin.
What is PPI?
----------

Yes aspirin and ibuprofen can exacerbate gastritis, in addition aspirin is an anti-platelet agent and can increase bleeding. Use paracetamol for pain relief. Have you been given a PPI?  (+ info)

Can eating broccoli and cabbage cause gastritis?

I do not generally have gastritis but after wating a large bowl of broccoli yesterday with olive oil and two big bowls of cooked red cabbage, my stomache feels raw and I"m burping like crazy. DOes that sound liek gastritis? I dont; want to run to the doctor yet. Anyone know about this?
thanks!
----------

No, but it sounds like you've got bad gas, which is very common from eating Broccoli and Cabbage. It's perfectly normal and will pass by the end of the day or so... if it doesn't pass by tomorrow, then you should check with a doctor to be on the safe side. Good luck and I hope I helped!  (+ info)

What are the symptoms of gastritis?

my nephew is 13 an keeps complaining of stomach aches. He says that he has heart burn, very sharp pains in the lower abdomen, and feels like throwing up. He's been to the dr., but they only give him medicine and have never really tested him for anything. Could this be gastritis?
----------

Hi,
It definitely sounds like gastritis. I was also diagnosed with gastritis back in July and as long as I avoid foods that trigger it(Pizza, fries, anything fried or spicy),even over-indulging caused pain-I've been fine, until recently, its been coming back. Seems that some foods that didn't bother me before are bothering me now.
I need to go back to see my doctor again very soon.
I know its hard to do, especially once I'm starting to feel better, I think its okay to sneak something or to over-eat and then I suffer the consequences-but your nephew should try to avoid any foods that are fried, spicy and tend to give gas because the gas pain is awfully strong.
It's as if I am over-loaded with gas and either it cannot be expelled or if it is expelled, offers no relief. It sucks to have to omit so many foods from one's diet to avoid pain, but when you think about it, it's usually foods that we shouldn't be eating in the first place(with the exception of broccoli, cauliflower, beans), that aren't good for our overall health.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck!  (+ info)

Gastritis keeps coming back I do not smoke or drink?

I been to alot of doctors and they all say it is Gastritis.I vomit all the time,Can not sleep,I have abdominal pain,Can not eat that much at one time,I have Chest pain,Unable to keep down liquids,I'm very Nausea all the time,
I can't remember things.Can you people help?
----------

First, find out if you have GERD. I do, and it means that I have an esophogus with a hole in it. I take anarax for the acid reflux, and it seems to help. I know I am not supposed to eat any onions, garlic, bread, tomato, chocolate, alcohol, and that I should take a short walk after eating to help digest my food. I am Italian, and I do eat the garlic, the onion, the pasta, the French bread. I do not drink, thank goodness. I take short walks before bed time. I hope this helps you. good luck!  (+ info)

How to treat gastritis with low stomach acid?

The stomach acid productivity is low, and it causes lots of trouble for me. How do i deal with this?
----------

Only your doctor can answer this, as the term 'gastritis' is a broad one kind of like 'pneumonia' or 'arthritis'. Treatment depends on your particular cause and type, so for example if you have a H. pylori bacterial infection you can receive antibiotics.  (+ info)
