Where can I find a video of the process of muscle hypertrophy from weight lifting?

I mean a video of what lifting heavy weight, or exertion does to your muscles, and then the muscle doing whatever it does to get bigger.

What is benign prostate hypertrophy and what are the symptoms?

What are the available treatments for BPH
----------

It's when the prostate enlarges, it happens to 80% of men and increases in likelihood with increasing age. symptoms include discomfort in the local region, abdominal pain. but the pain thing is you urinate slower and the urine stream appears to be weaker than normal.

main treatments are alpha blockers and 5α-reductase inhibitors. both can be precribed by your doctor. in the mean time, you can decrease the discomfort by drinking less fluids before bed time and a urinating schedule (so you don't build up the urine too much as it can cause discomfort)  (+ info)

Any good shoulder exercises that are high impact/induce hypertrophy?

Anyone got any good ones? I know running and jumping is great for adding on bone mass to the leg bones, but I don't really know any good ones, for say, shoulders. It would be especially great if they added bone mass to the shoulders width. Thanks!
----------

Shoulder presses are probably your best bet. You can also add in lumberjack presses (do a google search), lateral raises, front raises, upright rows (be careful of these though, not a great exercise for all individuals), and push presses. You can also look at big movements like hang clean and press as well.

You should also consider incorporating some rear delt exercises to prevent any issues with over-development of adjoining delts (ie rounded shoulders). Reverse flyes, face pulls and pullbacks.

In addition to all that you should throw in some pre-habilitative exercises for your rotator cuffs, just to keep the joint healthy.  (+ info)

Can anyone explain the different physiological response of the muscle for strength training versus hypertrophy

I understand the difference in how to train for strength and how to train for hypertrophy (bodybuilding) What I'm interested in knowing is the physiological response of the muscle for each. Is it possible to explain what takes place in the muscle for each in simple terms? I want to know how it is possible to get stronger without gaining size and vice versa. Or provide websites that may help explaining? Thanks!
----------

Good Question.

With hypertrophy it is impossible to gain size without becoming somewhat stronger, as becoming stronger comes with the territory. More muscle fibers tear to increase in size when recovering with hypertrophy. Plus, the famous "pump" is more possible when training for hypertrophy, which is increased blood flow delivering nutrients, which will help once achieve bigger size.

Maybe this below will help a bit regarding what happens with strength training taken from the source below.

Muscle fibers are grouped under motor units with each motor unit controlling a number of muscle cells or fibers. When a motor unit receives the signal from your nervous system to fire then all the muscle fibers under control of that motor unit also fire. So a muscle fiber or cell either fires all the way or not at all. Motor units are recruited on an "as needed" basis. When you lift a spoon to your mouth you signal your nervous system to "recruit" only a few motor units. When you curl a heavy weight you use a lot more. The more force required the more motor units you "turn on" and the more muscle cells you fire.

What's interesting is that the average person is only capable of recruiting around 50% of their available motor units or using 50% of their "potential" strength in a given task. With training you can increase this to upwards of 90%. That means when you go in the gym and lift a 1rm load even though you're straining as hard as you can you're most likely not using anywhere near all your potential strength to lift that weight.

Think of motor unit recruitment as being very similar to "relative strength", or strength per pound of bodyweight. Increasing relative strength means getting stronger without adding bulk. When you see someone who is "strong for their size" or a training technique that makes you "strong for your size" then know that that person has good motor unit recruitment abilities.

In a free gingival graft, how deep do they cut into the roof of your mouth?

The thought of this is freaking me out. How big of a chunk do they take?
----------

a nearly paper thin sliver. Aside from the fact that you shouldn't ;) if you rubbed your tounge along the roof of your mouth, you'd have a hard time feeling where they did the actual graft. Relax. Ask them if you can get a valium for the night before/morning of. Most periodontists/oral surgeons can prescribe you a dose or two to calm your nerves.

Good luck with your surgery ^_^  (+ info)

Does anyone know about hypertrophy training?

I have been working out for the past month, 6-days a week. Someone at the gym mentioned, hypertrophy training. Can someone please share with me a detailed work out plan. It would also be helpful to include the exact definition of this type of training. I am 5' 6'', 160 pounds, and have 15% body fat - not sure if this background information will help.
----------

hypertrophy is hyper develompent.

it is just extreme training that will give you robust results.
its for people who want big results. I think it is out of your range. to be honest whoever told you that probably doesn't know what it really is.
in all honesty don't listen to half the people at the gym, they will fill you with a bunch of muck that their buddies hear.

just life a section of your body per day

I work for a dentist and my dad has had it done and it is very painful and I would only do it as a last resort. Very costly. Took my dad a month. Could not eat very very bad pain.  (+ info)
