How has the recession affected your family?

My mom's job is getting major cutbacks (which is very unsafe, seeing as she's a nurse in a dangerous unit) and I got laid off my job as a caterer to the courts (which is ironic considering crime goes up in a recession).

It got me wondering... has the recession affected your life, your family, your home?
How has it affected you?
----------

not at all really. my parent's are both lawyers, with their own law firm. business has actually gone up since the recession for them.
the recession hasn't really affected my job (im a waitress) and it hasn't affected my boyfriend's job either (he's an assistant at a physical therapy office)  (+ info)

I dont have dental insurance till 2011. I cant afford to do the surgery. What can i do at home that will help slow or stop the recession? Its weird cause i brush my teeth 3 times a day, floss and use mouthwash. PLEASE HELP
----------

Medical Discount Plan
ideal for those who cannot afford or qualify for traditional health insurance. The companies offer discounted health services for a quite low monthly fee. Benefits include a range of discounts for doctors, hospitals, dental, vision, prescriptions, vitamins, as well as other health services.

Short Term Medical Plans
This plan is ideal for individuals in transition. Maybe you have just graduated from college and are no longer covered under your student health insurance or you moved out on your own, and you're no longer covered under your parents' medical insurance plan. Or perhaps you're employed part-time, going to school, leaving home for the first time, or even retiring early. Maybe you've found a new job, but your new employer's group health insurance plan won't kick in until you've been with months.

Common situation you met like many other people,be patient, and check the resource here    www.HealthInsuranceIdeas.info    i found very useful for me to solve my similiar problem.  (+ info)

What is the recovery period from gingival grafting surgery?

also the pain level on a scale of 1-10. I watched it on you tube....doesn't look too pleasant.
----------

Did nothing for me. had it done . didn't fix anything. I think dentists listen to a tape in there sleep how to get $$$$ for nothing or a band- aid. Dentists are a scam. went to 1 that said iI needed $25,000 in dental work , had it done for $3000 at another. All liars looking for $$$$  (+ info)

Does a slightly rounded lip ring back stop gum recession?

I just got my top lip done on March 17th. Recently i have noticed that a gum recession had begun. It was only after i changed the bar that i noticed. The bar it was done with was just slightly rounded. When i first changed it it was a completely flat back. I changed it back to a lightly rounded one. Will this help or will my gum recession continue or will it stop now?
----------

your gum recession will continue for as long as you have a foreign body in your mouth  (+ info)

Can the gum come back after gum recession?

Should I rebrace and grind two teeth parallel, tooth filling, crown, or remove gum from roof of the mouth?

Since so many people are going into depression due to recession are psychiatrists getting more patients?

if yes, does it mean that recession is actually benefiting them and helping them make more money?
----------

It is helping them but not any more than it's helping counselors who help people through these hard times, cardiologists who are dealing with the people with high blood pressure and heart attacks caused by people struggling to pay their bills or suddenly losing their jobs. Cardiologists make much more money than psychiatrists. There's actually a shortage of them. Much of the medical community are benefiting (unfortunately) by the recession. I'm sure they'd change that if they could.  (+ info)

What can a teen do during the recession?

What can I do to help save money? I have stopped using my heater and started using more blankets and I haven't asked my parents for money. And I'm not going to go shopping. I walk my neighbors dog for $50 a month. What else can I do?
Thanks!
----------

Hey, this is really good that you are being responsible, and actually know what is going on currently in the global economic situation. Maybe you can babysit or mow the neighbor's lawn for money or something. Good luck-  (+ info)

What changes have you made in anticipation for the recession?

Times are getting hard, could you please suggest any ways to cut back on cost and still enjoy life a little. I've been walking to save on fares to work and I've started feeling fit. What have you cut back on?
----------

My family and i have cut out our takeaways, eating out, and we have changed our diets to more healthier (no cakes, chocolate only occasionally) we have changed our fuel companies, we use energy saving lightbulbs, we have turned our thermostat down. We also put away some money aside every week about £20 may not seem a lot but it will mount up. We will also grow a vegetable garden (this teaches the kids nature, and gives them exercise and fresh air without them knowing. I used to use my tumble drier quite often but i have started to use the washing line and clothes horse more. When i am not too lazy i cook and bake in bulk and freeze it down. When i go shopping i look out for special offers and stock up. There are ways to cut down  (+ info)

Have you lost your job from the recession?

Just wondering if any people have fallen victim to the looming recession already, and does anyone feel that they are going to lose their jobs?
I have read about it in the papers but I would love to hear your stories of what happened.
----------

We moved to a small town just about nine months ago just because both my mother and my father work here. Then the plant where my father worked closed. He had worked there years ago for ten years, quit, got two full time jobs other places (he'd work sixteen hour days), then a friend became a manager and he got his old job back for low $20 dollars an hour. At forty hours a week, he averaged about 700 a week or so with taxes and everything.

He worked there for about four years, then everyone was laid off because the factory wasn't getting any more jobs to do. But he was the highest paid tech there; while the other techs were all hired back, he wasn't. Now he's on unemployment and he's searching, don't think he isn't, but there isn't any job out there that will pay him close to even what he gets on unemployment (he's at the maximum at $425) so he's looking.

Honestly we haven't seen that much of a change in our living, though. My parents just finished paying off a couch from a rental place after two years, about the same time as he was laid off. There's no tuition to pay anymore for me. We break even just about every month. And sometimes it's hard but we're fine.

But it's kind of sad that I found a job at the same time my father lost his. He's always so paranoid I'm going to lose mine (though I work as a cashier at a place with limited people, where it's impossible for them to fire people unless they have a real reason) that it makes me feel guilty.  (+ info)

In a free gingival graft, how deep do they cut into the roof of your mouth?

The thought of this is freaking me out. How big of a chunk do they take?
----------

a nearly paper thin sliver. Aside from the fact that you shouldn't ;) if you rubbed your tounge along the roof of your mouth, you'd have a hard time feeling where they did the actual graft. Relax. Ask them if you can get a valium for the night before/morning of. Most periodontists/oral surgeons can prescribe you a dose or two to calm your nerves.

Good luck with your surgery ^_^  (+ info)
