what is the cause of hyperuricemia in patient with heart problem?

and what is the best treatment for it
----------

Avoid purines in the diet. Uric acid in the blood is linked to heart disease.
Purines are found in high concentration in meat and meat products, especially internal organs such as liver and kidney. Plant based diet is generally low in purines.
Examples of high purine sources include: sweetbreads, anchovies, sardines, liver, beef kidneys, brains, meat extracts (e.g Oxo, Bovril), herring, mackerel, scallops, game meats, and gravy.
A moderate amount of purine is also contained in beef, pork, poultry, fish and seafood, asparagus, cauliflower, spinach, mushrooms, green peas, lentils, dried peas, beans, oatmeal, wheat bran, wheat germ, and hawthorne.
Higher levels of meat and seafood consumption are associated with an increased risk of gout, whereas a higher level of consumption of dairy products is associated with a decreased risk. Moderate intake of purine-rich vegetables or protein is not associated with an increased risk of gout.  (+ info)

If it means high level of uric acid level, then is there any permanent cure for it. My age is 23, weight 185 pounds, ready to change me diet for life to cure this problem.
And how do you consider Ayurveda medicines for a permanent cure.

What is Hyperuricemia? And what does it do to the body besides Gout?

I have numerous health difficulties. Diabetes puts me at risk for kidney damage/failure. I have had a gout attack in the past and Allopurinol caused migraines - resulting in Complex Migraine Syndrome which manifested in the temporary loss of motor function in my right hand.

Stopping Allopurinol stopped my migraines... yet now my uric acid level has skyrocketed to 11.6. I understand 2.3 is normal.

I am waiting until my doctor is available to me next week... and am currently in fantasticly hideous - all over body - pain that does not respond to prescription painkillers. ...A common occurance for my Fibromyalsia.

All I know of Hyperuricemia is Gout.

Are there other possible complications due to high levels?
I already eliminated all imaginable foods with purines.
What now?

Thank you in advance.

Peace.
I (fortunately) am not currently experiencing a gout attack... but I will keep Celebrex in mind - I've been trying Ultram since my Diverticulosis won't allow me to deal with opiates.

Peace!
Thanks dear ones - I am anaphylactic allergic to seafood - so I don't consume any of those... and my urologist has forbidden me to consume cranberry juice because our local hard water plus high dose vitamin C are what are causing my large kidney stones. I do appreciate your suggestions, however.

Peace.
Thank you for the link George - it is WAY over my head - but I caught the problems with kidney failure and diabetic ketoacidosis... my Diabetes medication can permenantly damage kidneys - so the possibility of this being life threatening is there...

Not a friendly situation! (Ok, Father God... need YOU on this, Sir!)
Thanks Eds - That second link led me to a layman's term link that made some sence. http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-hyperuricemia.htm

I have a CD-ROM computer dictionary on Gout... this listing reminded me... so maybe I'll dig it out and search it too!

I know the purine restrictions: no red meat, pork, turkey, organ meats, high fats, nightshade vegetables or full fat milk products.
Nightshades: (the only thing in life I'm not allergic to! ) Eggplant, asparagus, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, etc.

I eliminated red meat, & pork years ago. I'm allergic to milk. I rarely eat organ meats. ...all thats left is my veggies and turkey.

With my allergies and Diabetes - that leaves no other foods! Sheesh...
Thanks Isabella - I already drink MORE than 1/2 my body weight in water (ounces) to keep my kidney stones "floating" and not causing me pain. I've done that for years. ...but thank you for the info!

Uric acid is a wasts product formed from the breakdown (metabolism) of substances in food called purines. Most of the uric acid made by your body dissolves in your blood and passes through your kidneys into your urine. However, sometimes your body either produces too much or excretes too little uric acid.

Causes of high uric acid levels in your blood (Hyperuricemia) include:

1. Obesity
2. Excessive alcohol use
3. Diets high in purines (I listed some below)
4. Certain medications, includng low-dose-asprin, diuretics and some high blood pressure drugs.
5. Certain diseases that have a high cell turnover rate, such as leukemia, lymphoma or psoriasis.

Intially, hyperuricemia may cause no symptoms. But if untreated, it can lead to:

1. Gout
2. Unic acid stones in the urinary tract
3. Deposits of uric acid in the kidneys (uric acid nephropathy)
4. Deposits of uric acid in the soft tissue (tophi)

Treadment is directed at reducing uric acid levels and may include lifestyle changes such as:

1. Avoiding alcohol
2. Mantaining a healthy weight
3. Losing weight if you're overweight
4. Avoiding foods high n purines (Alcohol, organ meat like liver, beans, and some dark vegatable like spenich, salt and junk food. You need to drink a lot of water to flush out your kidneys.
5. Discontinuing use of medications that may be causing elevated uric acid levels.

In addition, you may need further testing to rule out conditions that may contribute to elevated uric acid levels--especially if levels don't rreturn to normal after lifestyle changes. Additonal treatment may include medications to lower uric acid levels. It is important to note that high uric acid levels are lso associated with an increased rick of heat disease. So it is important to retuce high uric acid levels.

is glucosamine sulfate safe or recommended for gout patients?

i have been diagnosed with gouty arthritis which is due to high levels of uric acid. i would like to know if glucosamine sulfate is safe for hyperuricemia patients.
----------

OldTimeKid is right this time! lol I'm glad to see he has done his research!

Cherry juice provides relief by breaking up the uric acid crystals that irritate the joints. I have always used Black Cherry Juice, about one ounce in the morning. Others use just regular Cherry Juice, around 6-8 ounces a morning. But you also have to change your diet, too!

But glucosamine will not get rid of gout if that is what you are asking. Changing your diet will get rid of gout. Cherry juice makes it happen quicker.  (+ info)

Super Size Me: meaning of medical examination..?

Hi i was wondering if any of you who have watched Supersize me, could help me..
You know when Spurlock has trouble breathing and the doctor says:
"Your EKG is normal..
......
These numbers are absolutley outrageous. For the first time were seeing uric acid elevated, so youre giving yourself hyperuricemia and the danger of hyperuricemia is gout, kidney stones. The results for your liver are obscene beyond anything i would've thought..."

What does that actually mean in like normal simple terms?

Thanks :D

Anyone Have The Lap-Band done?

anyone here have the lap band done at your local bariatrics center? I am considering this but my area hasn't came into their own with it yet. Claim it's coming to our area late fall.

Thus gives me time to do my research. I went on the site and read about it but raised more questions than answered.

The long term effects was my biggest concern. out of 1700 poeple tested Some they claimed caused hypertension (35.6%), osteoarthritis (57.8%), diabetes (22%), dislipidemia (27.1%), sleep apnea (31.4%), depression (21.2%), hyperuricemia (27.1%), gallstones (8.7%) irregular menstrual cycle (4.9%), heart failure (1.4%), sweet eating (22.5%) and binge eating (18.5%).

If this is just a band around the stomach bag, why are these other conditions rising as well from the proceedure?
