Is Anhidrosis (also called hypohidrosis) a condition of diabetes insipidus?

My wife had cushings syndrome, which was treated with an operation to the pituitary gland. Post operation she developed diabetes insipidus. As a result of this condition, she was prescribed to use dexamethasone spray which she uses daily. Although this spray balanced her water intake/urination, she finds it very hard to sweat even after hard exercise.

This brings the question of her having anhidrosis to our minds. However, since she doesn't have any symptoms of dehydration, why would this condition occur?

hydronephrosis happens cause of urinary flow obstruction 60% mechanical obstruction so if she is urinating normaly that can be ruled out.. she os not sweating cause of the spray she is using after consulting to ur doc may be u can decrease the dosage...  (+ info)

Anyone know about Anhidrosis (also called hypohidrosis)???

I posted earlier about me overheating and i did some reasearch on my problem. Its been going on for 2.5 years .. I cant be in the heat, i get dizzy and sick. I drink lots of water.. Pretty much the only thing i drink. I do try to stay out of the heat but its at the point where i cant even be out when its 75 degs plus.

Now Anhidrosis is defined as an absence of sweating. Anhidrosis can affect small or large areas of the body and be caused by one or more of dozens of factors. No one knows exactly how many people are affected by anhidrosis..

I have noticed lately that i havent been sweating at all.. I used to all the time when i played sports and worked out..

So anyone know if there is anything i can do or take to maybe fix this? I dont have medical or i would go to the doctors. Hopefully soon i will have medical and get the tests done but i figured i would see if anyone knew about this and maybe there is something i can do now to help me ..

Thanks

The link below is about the most useful site I was able to find. With regards to treatment it says that the cause of the anhidrosis needs to be treated...so unless you have the tests you are unlikely to find a treatment. Good luck  (+ info)

How old do you have to be to have Botox?

I am a sufferer of hypohidrosis, and to help stop it people can have Botox, so I was wondering how old do you have to be and possibly how much would it roughly cost?.
cheers guys

It is up to the practioner as they can turn you away if they feel your too young but this is normally only the case if your 16 and wanting it in your forehead etc. I have hyperhydrosis and I use Driclor, it works and its a lot cheaper than botox, and less painful too.  (+ info)

What is the deal with Drysol?

After I put it on it itches and tingles..is that normal
also can you tell me all you know ahout it.
Does it work ?
I have hypohidrosis and tonight is my first night putting it on.
it itches and tingles and do I have to wash it off in the morning??
----------

For me it usually is too uncomfortable to go to sleep with on my armpits. it worked really well but my armpits would be raw and red in the morning. It's a chemical that blocks the sweat pores and by definition is pretty harsh. It works well but your sweat will just come out in other places. If you MUST use it/ use it only when you REALLY need it or if you sweat profusely like I did- once every 3-4 nights and then eventually probably less because your body becomes used to it. What helps to relieve the irritation is to put a powder or creamy deoderant on after it that has moisturizers in it.   (+ info)

I have the same problem, although I didn't know the technial name. I just called it reduced ability to sweat. In my case it's also been going on for three years and it I really had some horrible summers. I am like you, if its more than 72 degrees, I feel fluish and very fatigued. In, my case I got "anhidrosis" from overexposure to extreme heat in a steel foundry. Heat can cause skin thining(atrophy) and I basically toasted my sweat glands I think.
Here's what I find helps me:
Take a water bottle and spray a mist of water on you when you are exercising or feeling hot and fluish. An airconditoner for the car and for at least your bedroom/TV area is a must. Avoid putting lotions that contain oil on your skin, they just trap in the heat. This includes some moisturizers and suntan lotions. Stay out of the sun and use an umbrella while walking in the summer. Avoid alcohol and hot spicy food in the summer. Don't sit under halogen lamps. Some halogen lamps can get to 140 degrees F. Change your lightbulbs to the new energy efficient ones, they don't give off as much heat.
You might want to try going on a betablocker medication that slows your heart down a bit and won't give you flushed skin as much. Atenenol is a very common betablocker. Avoid medication that relaxes or dilates your blood vessels.
I hope you find a cure or releif!
Evian makes small cans of water spray that you can fit in your pocket. They would be in the cosmetic or permufe section. I find they are good for the hottest weeks to spray your face when you are out and there is no water around.
If you find yourself getting fatigued at your computer after sitting long hours, it's because the computer or monitor is too hot for you. Touch the screen with your hand. Laptops are bad for this.  (+ info)
