how much can polyps be hazardous if stay in intestinal tract for several years.?

50 years old woman doesn't wanna go to doctor for surgery, how long she can live with these polyps without getting sick.they were not malign ones but can they be change to bad ones in a long run.
----------

The only way to tell if the polyps have become malignant is through the colonoscopy. Well, you can tell if the polyps have become cancerous and you get really sick, but then it's too late. The woman needs to go to the doctor and have the colonoscopy. They probably can remove the polyps at the same time. It's embarrassing and uncomfortable. It's also almost out patient surgery and she'll live a longer more comfortable life afterward, and so will the people who love her.  (+ info)

One common symptom is rectal bleeding. The blood might be bright or dark red depending on the location of the polyp.

You must have insurance! That is the odest thing I have ever heard of in my life. Skin Tags are caused by your body being overly acidic.  (+ info)

are intestinal polyps serious?

i am a fifteen year old boy and i have been diaognoised why intestinal polyps should i be really concered or no?
----------

You are VERY young to have had a colonoscopy and to have polyps, so yes you should be concerned. Do you have familial polyposis? If so, get a consult from a doctor who has treated other family members. If not, you should be followed closely.  (+ info)

Four year old with intestinal polyps. Any help?

My four year old daughter was referred to a GI specialist because they think that she has intestinal polyps. We are waiting on a call from them that will let us know when we can take her in and get her scoped. I want to know how normal this is in someone so young. What should I expect? Any info will help.
----------

It can happen and is not unheard of. Juvenile intestinal polyps can occur in children as young as one year and may be related to diet and/or heredity. They'll usually benign and cause little problem. They may be removed during the endoscopy. She'll suffer no ill effects and may be mildly sedated during the procedure to ensure her comfort and compliance.  (+ info)

What do polyps in your stomach and colon mean?

I have 3 polyps in my stomach and one in my colon that is enveloped by something unidentifiable per my doctor. All have been biopsied and sent off but I have to wait more than 2 months to see my doctor again. I'm worried about this long wait and it being cancer.
----------

They are little growths, like pouches, but they are not diverticulitis. They are fairly common, and can not be avoided, except by a vigorous fiber intake. They can be snipped out using a scope with camera, and scissors.  (+ info)

What is the difference between Colon Cancer and Intestinal Cancer?

And how does one get screened for Intestinal cancer?

Colon cancer runs in my family and I have a colonoscopy every year. But I found out that a close relative has Intestinal cancer.
----------

As other peole pointed out, "colon" cancer is a cancer specific of the large intestin, whereas "intestinal" cancer could affect any part of the intestine (including the small intestine, i.e. duodenum, ileum and jujenum).

If colon cancer runs in your family, you are likely to have FAP, or Familial adenomatous polyposis, an inherited colorectal cancer syndrome. People with the classic type of familial adenomatous polyposis may begin to develop multiple noncancerous (benign) polyps (growths) in the colon as early as their teenage years.
This cancer usually develops in the lower part of the digestive system, including the large intestine (colon) and rectum. However, the FAP syndrome could present a risk factor for the cancer of the small intestine (what your relative might have), therefore this person could also carry the genetic mutation that confers cancer predisposition (the APC gene, in the case of FAP).

Are fibroids, endometrial hyperplasia or polyps a precursor to cancer?

I'm 44 and had heavy menstrual bleeding. Ultrasounds and MRI showed three small fibroids, focal complex hyperplasia and polyps. I've been trying natural remedies which have improved menses dramatically, no longer heavy, nor as painful. Should I still have hysteroscopy or other procedure done, or does the resolution of symptoms mean I'm OK?
----------

Not a precursor to cancer. Chances are the pain and bleeding will return. Interuterine scraping is another option, but I hear it is painful and not always effective. Hysterectomy may be another option for you if you just want to be done all together.  (+ info)
