Any treatment recommendations for Keratosis Pilaris?

I have a skin condition called Keratosis Pilaris, which is rough bumps on upper arms and on thighs and legs. It is not eczema or acne, but it is like small red bumps on the skin. It is unsightly and I want to get rid of it. Any suggestions for lessening the appearance or getting rid of it? I've already tryed a loofa, multiple types of sponges, and moisturizing lotion such as Aveeno & Eucerin. Any advice will be appreciated, thanks!

Small doses of the sun help - I won't say go and lay out but healthy sun helps -
A lufa with a thick oil like Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa butter
helps soften the skin.  (+ info)

What lotions work best to treat keratosis pilaris?

I've heard Lac Hydrin Five works well, but I wanted to know my other options. Has anyone had any good results using a particular product?
----------

Well Keratosis pilaris will never go away. Its a chronic condition. Using Lac-Hydrin is the best cream to help the appearance. Basically smooths out the skin. i don't know of a better treatment.  (+ info)

How can you get rid of Keratosis Pilaris?

I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. I need something that really works and I am saying this as a scientist, you would think I have founs something to get rid of KP, but nothing seems to work and all the stuff I have you are to expensive I can't afford this stuff. Any home remedies you guys know of or something?
----------

Unfortunately, you can't. It is an inherited condition. There are some medications mentioned on the web that say they will help the condition, but they will not eradicate it. Using a rich emollient like Lubriderm or Aveeno help cut down on the roughness, but nothing makes it go away. The only thing that works is time. As you get older, KP literally goes away on its own. You just have to wait it out. Sorry.  (+ info)

how can i cure my keratosis pilaris?

i have keratosis pilaris, which is like red bumps all over my thighs and upper arms. i've tried alot of different lotions and exfoliators. what can i do?
----------

There is no cure unfortunately. Just scrubbing with a luffa sponge, and then applying a lotion that is rich with vitamin E helps quite a bit. Applying lotions when you wake up and like an hour before you go to bed helps too.  (+ info)

I also have Keratosis pilaris for as long as i could remember (im 15 now ) , theres actually no cure for it whatsoever but there are creams that could lessen the redness and the bumps. I havent used any creams yet for mine so i cant recommend anything.
I think theyre might be a cream called KPduty or something liek that you could look it up

Could me shaving my arms be the reason i have keratosis pilaris?

I have had keratosis pilaris really bad on my arms ofr about 4-5 years now, im just wondering whether it has come because i shave my arms. I'd be interested in anything anyone has to say about keratosis pilaris, whether you have it too for example. =D...X
----------

NO this is a skin condition that is heredity, (spasmodic chain pattern)

how old are u cause this condition should "clear" up in early adulthood.

u should be having tepid baths/showers rather than hot.

exfolitaion regularly.

the reason for it is a excess of keratin being produced by your body. causing the bumps and plugs u see.  (+ info)

How can I reduce keratosis pilaris without creams or anything I have to buy?

Is there some vitamin or mineral that will reduce it? Or something to that extent?
----------

Nope, you're pretty much stuck with lotions that contain lactic acid or glycolic acid, and urea. You need something that will prevent keratin from building up in your hair follicles, and vitamins just won't do that.  (+ info)
