Can you get lead poisoning from just holding lead weights?

I was always told not to touch the lead weights in our garage because i could get lead poisoning. Now I'm wondering if that is true?

I've been wondering about this for a while. With all the recalls over toys and products made in China, is any parents testing their children for lead? If there is lead poisoning, do they plan to sue the company (like Mattel) who endorses these products? No kids should suffer serious brain damage if it can be prevented?
Our kids' pediatricians routinely did lead screening as part of well-baby and well-child care.

Because i stabbed myself with a pencil and i was bleeding like a little drop and i think it went only through like my 1st or 2nd layer of skin and i know i probably dont have lead poisoning but just making sure.....when do the symptoms start if you do have it (and no i dont have the symptoms)

Yet another issue with Chinese imports. "Thomas the Train" toys imported from China are tainted with lead based paint. First the Chinese put antifreeze into containers that are supposed to be glycerin, tainted pet food causing kidney failure is sent here, and the list goes on and on. It's just amazing that we are doing business with them. Who can blame them for not caring though? We're exploiting them with slave labor standards and they are poisoning us. But, on the bright side, rich businessmen and politicians are continuing to get richer! Yay! One more examples of our government not working for us. Next on the table, amnesty for lawbreakers!
I absolutely agree with you. Aside from businessmen and politicians getting profits from letting low quality products flood the markets, I think parents should take more responsibility and do their research before making a decision as to where and which toys to buy for their children. As parent myself I made my research and buy toys for my children (3 and 6) from the trusted store, who does their own selection to carry only high quality toys mostly made in US or Europe.

Hi,

There's no lead in coin or paper currency these days (not even the Chinese money), but that doesn't mean that putting it in your mouth is sanitary.
If you still want to be sure about the lead though, you can follow the link I posted under sources to find an easy way to check for lead by yourself.

How do you screen for lead poisoning?

I am going next week for my ninth grade physical and i was wondering how you screen for lead poisoning. And.... I am really nervous about getting my shots. I haven't had a shot for like ever and I was also wondering what it felt like to get a shot these days:) thanks
