What treatments, drugs, or vitamins would you suggest to someone who has iron-deficiency anemia?

What treatments, drugs, or vitamins would you suggest to someone who has iron-deficiency anemia? What would you suggest to someone who has pernicious anemia?
----------

I have iron-deficient anemia and the nurse told me to stop drinking so much tea (b/c tea blocks iron absorbtion), eat more greens, fish, eggs, take vitamin B12 or iron.

not sure about the other.  (+ info)

What is the largest multiple birth on record?

A few questions - the largest multiple birth on record of SURVIVING infants?

The largest multiple birth (but not necessarily surviving) on record?

And the largest number of identicals? Quints, I think, but I'm not sure if there's been any more.
----------

The largest set in which all members survived more than a few days is septuplets, the first of which was in 1997. There have been a few sets of nonuplets (nine) in which a few babies were born alive, and there have been pregnancies — but no known instances of live births — of decaplets (ten), undecaplets (eleven), duodecaplets (twelve), and quindecaplets (fifteen).  (+ info)

Does sudden yellow teeth indicate a particular vitamin deficiency?

I've been an orange juice junkie my whole life, but I've been without it for a month now and just noticed my bottom teeth are definitely more yellow than before. I'm wondering if the two could be related. Is this a sign of a Vitamin C or some other vitamin deficiency?
----------

This is from http://en.allexperts.com/q/Dentistry-966/toddlers-teeth-turning-yellow.htm

says: The yellow color is probably a surface stain. It is certainly not from a nutritional or vitamin deficiency, nor is it a symptom of an illness.  (+ info)

How long will it take for my vitamin D deficiency to get better?

I was diagnosed as having a severe deficiency (9.7) and started taking prescription supplements. I was wondering how long it took others to start feeling less fatigued and achy once they got treatment. (My doctor is out of town so I have to wait to ask her.)
----------

your doctor will do more blood work to see what the new level is. Be sure that you are taking vitamin D3 which is natural like from sunlight and if you only take 10,000 - 15,000 IU or so on prescription then you can get the same from dietary supplements OTC and save some money. Just tell your doctor  (+ info)

How do you know if you have a vitamin deficiency?

I'm always tired, confused, anxious and depressed. I've taken prescription meds for this, but they only help a little. Because of this, I have very little motivation to exercise even though I know it might help. A friend of mine experienced similar symptoms, and found out that she had a serious vitamin deficiency. How do you get tested for this?

How safe is it to have multiple cesareans?

I am a mother of three; I babygirl in in heaven now being the angel that I always knew she was. Now, I only have my two boys with me. I had been thinking about having another child but, after I had my daughter, I felt my family was complete and I got my tubes tied at the age of 22. Now I long to have another child. I have already had 3 c-sections and I have a condition called endometriosis which can cause infertility. I want the reversal surgery so I can be able to have more children and then there is the risk of chancing another c-section. If anybody out there has any experiences like the one I'm longing to experience please let me know. I've read that a vaginal birth can be tried after multiple c-sections but, alot of risks go along with that. I need info on reversal surgeries and having multiple c-sections please! Thank you all in advance!
----------

I myself have never had a C-section but an aquaintance of mine has 8 children ranging in age from 20- 2 and has had C-sections for all of her children. My best friend's mother had 7 children and had 7 C-sections. My best friend has had 3 C-sections. I have heard that once you have one that sometimes it is better to continue to have them. But after having the 3 C-sections my friend gave birth to two other children vaginally. It must be safe because they are all healthy and recovered nicely after each one.  (+ info)

How to ask to be tested for a Vitamin D deficiency?

I have a lot of symptoms that match up to those of a Vitamin D deficiency. I am going in to my doctor today, and I want to ask to have this blood test done (numerous other blood tests have been done with no conclusion as to why I feel the way I do). How do I best bring it up? My doctor is...how do I say this, sort of an idiot-but my insurance is military so I cant change at the moment.

Thanks.
----------

Vitamin D testing is pretty much standard here in Seattle area where I live but no matter where you live you can be deficient.

Tell him that due to a lack of outdoor activities (or use of high SPF sun screen when outside) you feel like you might be deficient. Tell him that you made a little bit of a research and your symptoms do match those of Vitamin D deficiency; however you are not a doctor and though you came to ask his advise.

If your doctor seems reluctant, just request for the test to be done and if he still refuses, remember you can safely take 2000 - 3000 units a day on your own to see if there is any improvement.  (+ info)

How do you get multiple babies to sleep in the same room?

I'm curious. What do parents with multiple babies do when it comes to nap time? I'm sure parents with quadruplets or whatever don't always have four separate rooms to put the babies in. And what do family daycare providers do? Won't the babies wake each other up?

Exactly what kind of irritablility do you get from an Iron Deficiency?

Lately it seems like I've been very irritable. I get mad and upset quit easily and I've been crying at the drop of a hat. My husband is getting worried that I'm about to have a metal breakdown. I've been trying to figure out why I'm like this because I don't think I'm depressed. I don't seem to have lost interest in activities or anything like that; I just get upset easily. Anyway, I've been doing some online research (dangerous, I know) and I've discovered that I seem to have a lot of symptoms of Iron Deficiency. I wouldn't normally consider this possible because we have very hard well water that is loaded with iron, but a few months ago we switched to bottled water for drinking. It was also a couple months ago that I started feeling like this. I guess my big question, hopefully to someone who has experienced the deficiency, is whether my mental symptoms sound like the same irritability that comes with Iron Deficiency or not?
----------

I had iron deficiency anaemia a little while back and I remember being quite weepy for a little while. It wasn't too bad I must admit but everyone's different! You can't lose by getting it checked out, good luck xx By the way - Ferrous Sulphate to treat iron deficiency anaemia makes your faeces black!  (+ info)

Do you have a progesterone deficiency or a estrogen dominance?

I have been wondering for a little time now if I have estrogen dominance or a progesterone deficiency. I'm going to the doctor next month when i actually receive my insurance cards, but in the meantime can anyone tell me first hand the symptoms they have had with either of these two or both of these problems? Thank you so much. Any info is appreciated.
Thank you. I appreciate your input. I do hope to get whatever it is I have taken care of.
----------

I have really irregular periods and sometimes don't ovulate. I think they told me I have a progesterone deficiency and testerone dominance as I come from a family and extended family with lots of boys (I don't look like a boy...if anything they said that's why I am slimmer and grow less hair). This was like 7 years ago (i was 18 at the time and didn't care). Now, I want children and my body temps are in the 95s, I miss periods all the time but I have tried so many things, I am resigning myself to loving my dogs. My bf uses the pull out method less and less because he wasn't sure if he wants a child yet but now he realizes his gf might not be able to give him one. :(  (+ info)
