How long will a yeast infection take to cure without any special treatment?

I recently had a urinary tract infection, due to unsanitary bathroom conditions at school, and took antibiotics. though the UTI was cured, a yeast infection developed and is now the main source of discomfort. I'm planning on picking up monistat from the store, but I'm also wondering if it is okay to just let it heal naturally... and how that would work and how long. thank you.

How does skin protect you from infection? How will it effect you if you had no skin?

I am the same person who asked How does skin protect against infection but I don't like Elle's answer for How does skin protect against infection. Also, don't put hard words, make them simple.
BY the way i am only in fifth grade so whoever insults me will be reported and i don't understand some words!
don't you guys think that Stone Rose is insulting to have on Yahoo Answers

Skin is the bodies first line of defense. The different layers of skin literally block bacteria like a forcefield. Bacteria lives on our skin because it cant get in. When the skin is broken, or germs find a way in through the mouth, nose etc, we get sick. If we had no skin, we would get so sick so fast, the we would not live. That is why 3rd degree burn patients need to be put in a sterile room sometimes.

The top layer (dead epidermis) sheds off the skin every moment, taking all the bacteria with it. This keeps them from staying on too long.

Without skin you could not process waste and your organs/ blood would go everywhere, killing you. If that didn't do it first, millions of bacteria would finish you off in about an hour.  (+ info)

How long does a infant ear infection take to go away with drops?

My 13 month old has/had a ear infection. Her Dr. prescribed her ear drops and an oral antibiotic. The drops said instill 1 drop into both ears every 2 hours. And the Oral antibiotic was to be taken for 5 days. I gave her the ear drops every 2 hours except for over night to allow her to sleep through the night in peace. And I gave her the antibiotic for the 5 days like stated. With this going on for a whole week (5/6) days do you think the ear infection would be gone by now?
----------

They can last for up to about 10 days. The drops only help with pain while the antibiotic heals. If your daugher only needed the antibiotic for 5 days then I am guessing that is was not very bad. I had to do it for about 10 days. Your daughter should start feeling better any day now.   (+ info)

What is the difference between yeast infection and a bladder infection? How do you get them?

I been having a pain down there like if I cut my self shaving. I burns when I pee or just walk around. I have asked a couple of people and they say it might be a bladder problem and the others say it might be a yeast infection.
----------

A yeast infection is caused by yeast. It grows where it is warm and mosit and is caused by a fungus. You will have a lot of itching & burning. There is often a white discharge.
A bladder infection is caused by bacteria in the bladder. You can get both from sexual intercourse. A bladder infection will cause burning while you urinate, stomach pain, fever, dark & cloudy urine, and sometimes blood in the urine.
If you notice more of a problem with itching & odor, it is probably a yeast infection, which you can treat with an over the counter remedy. (Monistat, for example) If you have a lot of burning WHILE you pee, you should see your doctor for testing & antibiotics. Left untreated, it can travel to your kidneys and cause scarring.  (+ info)

How do I prevent a yeast infection while on antibiotics?

I just started taking Amoxicillin for a minor infection - twice a day for ten days.

I've never gotten a yeast infection from antibiotics before and I don't know how likely it is that I'll get one this time.

Is there anything I can do to prevent it? I know plain white yogurt helps. Should I do that before or during my antibiotic course? Any other advice? Thanks.
I should have clarified. I have an ear infection.
----------

Yes, my doctor always told me to eat yogurt when I was taking antibiotics. It helps to restore the good bacteria in your digestive system. Take 2 hours before or 2 hours after you take the antibiotic.  (+ info)

What happens when you get checked for a bladder infection?

I'll most likely be checked for a bladder infection, and I know the doctor will have to check down there.

I'm not a virgin, but I have had this infection way before anything sexual came along.

But when I'm being checked for the infection, could the doctor tell right away I've had sex?

Can someone just explain to me exactly what happens.
----------

Your assuming you have a bladder infection? The doc will be able to determine by your signs/symptoms. BTW if he did need to check "down there", he would be able to tell if you were a virgin or not.  (+ info)
