Myclonic epilepsy shouldn't hurt anyone unless they fall or hit something as a result of a seizure. Epilepsy doesn't really have a "cure," but with medication it can be controlled.  (+ info)

Does smoking marijuana help control Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy?

Hi i was wondering if smoking marijuana will help control my epilepsy.
----------

It really helped me, but I also know people who it made worse. You won't know what it does for you unless you try it, which I won't condone or condemn you doing.  (+ info)

could I have juvenile myoclonic epilepsy or Restless leg syndrome?

So I went to the neurologist today about my muscle spasms i had for a year, he says that i probably have restless leg syndrome because the spasms are worse more at night and i move a lot or i could have juvenile myoclonic epilepsy..... but to have the epilepsy, don't i have to have seizures? I never had a seizure once, and if i don't really feel like i have the syndrome because my spasms are bad the whole day, it just seems a little worse at night, most nights are fine.......somebody help please, i'm 16 years old if that helps you
----------

The thing with JME is that if you have it, the muscle spasms you're having ARE seizures. With RLS (restless leg syndrome) you would feel like you have ants crawling up your legs or like you HAVE to move them. With JME, it's like your muscles just have a "hiccup". There's no warning, you don't feel the muscle priming most of the time, it just happens. That's just a quick, split-second misfiring in your brain that makes it happen. And a seizure IS a misfiring in the brain, no matter how short. There are actually many types of seizures.  (+ info)

In the summer i was diagnosed with juvenlie myoclonic epilepsy could a seizure happen at night?

this past summer i was diagnosed with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy. could a seizure happen at night or in the afternoon? most of the seizurs i had were in the morning. i am on medication. i haven't had a seizure since the summer.
----------

Yes they can happen any time. I'll send U some sites too. It is generally outgrown.

This syndrome typically arises after three years of age and is considered benign because children usually outgrow it by adolescence. In most children with benign rolandic epilepsy (BRE), seizures are infrequent and in some cases do not require medication. Characteristic manifestations of the syndrome begin with a sensation at the corner of the mouth and drooling, followed by jerking of the mouth that can progress to the rest of that side of the face, and sometimes to that entire side of the body. Although children remain conscious during this type of seizure, they are usually unable to speak for a period of time during and after the seizure. Seizures occur more commonly at night, especially during particular stages of sleep.

Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy (JME)
This syndrome typically begins in late childhood or early adolescence. It is characterized by mild myoclonic jerks as the individual is going to sleep or waking. Children describe intense feelings of jumpiness that generally subside after about 30 minutes. In addition to the myoclonic seizures, children with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME) may also have periodic tonic-clonic seizures

what is the difference between progressive lenses and no line bifocals?

my mom has progressive lenses and hates them. she previously wore reader glasses and this is her first pair of "real glasses." she hates the progressive lens, and is considering taking the glasses back. any suggestions? and also, what is the difference between the progressive lenses and no-line bifocals? thanks.
----------

Progressive lenses have less power at the top edge and maximum power at the bottom edge. The power of the lens increases gradually from top to bottom. The idea is that you can adjust your head so that you are looking through the part of the lens which is just right for the distance of the thing you are looking at. Most people don't like these at first because it takes a change in the way glasses are used. Older people do not like change. However people who will work with the progressive lenses and learn to use them usually end up liking them.

A no-line bifocal lens is one which does not have a distinct line between the top and the bottom lens. It has a more gradual change from upper to lower, like the progressive, but not totally, it is a compromise between bifocals and progressive lenses.  (+ info)

How can you tell if you have progressive scoliosis?

Does this condition tend to result in considerable deformities as you age? If it is not progressive, will this still result in deformities later on in life? Can it become progressive?

How dangerous is the surgery to correct scoliosis? I have heard it described as risky due to the fact that it involves the spine.
----------

Most scoliosis cases are progressive.. it is good to catch it in an early stage and try to correct it whether it's exercises, back brace, or surgery. My scoliosis was a "S" curve, about 55 degrees each curve, the doctors told me if i didn't have the surgery, it would keep getting so bad my organs would be crushed and I wouldn't make it past 30. (I was 17 at the time) I had the back surgery, and yes it is very dangerous. It is one of the most invasive surgeries, and yes they are fusing the vertebrae that are protecting the spinal cord. It could result in paralysis. It is very important to know your doctor, and their history. I had an amazing doctor, and I didn't have any complications with my surgery. Good luck! :)  (+ info)

How Do I Order Reading Glasses from Progressive Prescription?

I have a prescription for progressive lenses which I've filled through an on-line outlet.

Now I want to order a pair of reading glasses. But I don't know who to fill in the on-line order, given my prescription is for progressives.

Can anyone tell me how I can do it without getting my eyes re-tested?
----------

You total the Sphere power and the ADD power. The cyl and axis will stay the same. Make sure you cross the zero if your sph power is a negative number. The ADD will always be positive.

I am an optical lab manager, so I am just curious as to how the website gets measurements on a progressive. I hope that an optician somewhere measured you in person. There is at most a 1mm tolerance for error in a progressive measurement.  (+ info)

Where have cheap and good the bifocal and progressive glasses on line?

Where have cheap and good the bifocal and progressive glasses on line? I thing buy bifocal and progressive glasses on line?
----------

It is not advisable to buy progressive or bifocal lenses online. You will not know at what position the segment of heights should be set for any frames you chose online. These measurements are extremely important and need to be taken by someone who knows how to do this - an optical dispenser.  (+ info)

What is compound henna or progressive colr?

I had my hair dyed brown at a salon , and now i want to do it myself and go back to more of a blonde color and it says don't use over compound henna or progressive color, what is that?
----------

Compound henna is a type of henna usually sold pre-boxed in a store and are called henna colors. Henna does not have other colors naturally as it is a plant that only makes reddish tones. Plants don't produce two colors or more. These boxes of mixed blends usually have metallic salts in which we call compound henna. It can be damaging to your hair.
But if you already used a brown hair dye at a salon it is probably already chemicals and in order to make your hair blonde from brown you probably have to go back to the salon and get it chemically dyed again (bleached) which if you don't mind chemicals, then that's fine but be careful of long term damage with drying and brittle hair possibly.

hope this helps!  (+ info)
