What is tubular nephrosis?

I need detailed information on adult tubular nephrosis. Most importantly does it cause pain? What tests can determine if this is affecting someone? Any other information is desired also.
----------

It is a kidney disease characterized by lesions of the epithelial lining of the renal tubules, resulting in problems with the filtration function. It causes the appearance of large amounts of protein in the urine. It can be cause by a reaction to toxins, diabetes, collagen disease and other end-stage kidney diseases. The major symptom is massive edema. Corticosteroid therapy has been successful in treating certain forms of the disease.  (+ info)

what are the diseases related to nephrosis?

Nephrosis - a syndrome characterized by edema and large amounts of protein in the urine and usually increased blood cholesterol; usually associated with glomerulonephritis or with a complication of various systemic diseases

Diseases related to it include...

kidney disease, renal disorder, nephropathy, nephrosis - a disease affecting the kidneys
-is a kind of uropathy
-1 has particulars: nephritis, Bright's disease; nephrosclerosis, nephroangiosclerosis; polycystic kidney disease, PKD; polyuria; renal failure, kidney failure; renal insufficiency

Hope this helps.

one off my fnd got complete body check up, diagnosed with left kidney nephrosis & right kidney absolutely good

we group of fnds visited hospital for routine health check up, after undergoing all the tests, ultra sound shows left kidney some problem, later as they advice to take MRI they confirmed that hydronephrosis of left kidney, further confirmation isotope study is done to reveal in detail funtioning of both kidneys, the result showed left not at all functioning, right one 100% working............
later neprologist advice was nothing to worry.... get the regular check ups for at least 2 yrs.......
what precautions he should take, wat r the feature symptoms he should keep in mind. wat is reason behind loss of left kidney.......... etc.

Why are we so worried about terrorists when...?

statistics show we are more likely to die from a bolt of lightening than from a terrorist act.

Heart disease: 654,092
Cancer: 550,270
Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 150,147
Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 123,884
Accidents (unintentional injuries): 108,694
Diabetes: 72,815
Alzheimer's disease: 65,829
Influenza/Pneumonia: 61,472
Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 42,762
Septicemia: 33,464

Consider those statistics. These don't even include highway deaths(abt 40k) per year. If we are so worried about death, wouldn't our monies be better spent on educating people about eating their vegetables than waging a war in iraq(which I support)? Thinking along these lines has given me a new perspective on the war. I think also, that i'd much rather die from an explosion than from chronic heart disease.
----------

It has far more sweeping affect than merely "death toll".

A catastrophic terrorist attack can paralyze a nation on all operative levels and cause an economic collapse. It could plummet the entire U.S. economy into a radical tail spin causing runaway business bankruptcies, a stock market crash could ensue; the dollar would be worthless; you would loose your job; employment would vaporize; prices for goods would escalate from subsequent hyper-inflation; you and your family could starve; not having employment you could be evicted from your rental or default on your mortgage and loose your home; all economic and financial stability would evaporate; you would have to default on your SUV payments; homelessness would skyrocket; consumer confidence will not exist; tax money and federal funds would deplete, city infrastructure would go into disrepair; public transit would cease; the electrical grid would experience controlled periodic “brown-outs”; rationing of everything would be the order of the day; many things you take for granted simply will be compromised or not be available; sanitation would be jeopardized; communical diseases due to unsanitary conditions would flourish infecting many; tap water would have to be boiled before drinking it; antibiotic banks could drain from the demand; many infected people could die; civil unrest would most likely ravage the nation; rampant murder and theft in order to survive would mushroom; and Marshall Law would be declared, meaning all your freedoms would be nullified, and the freedom to move about would completely cease.

So as you can see, death toll from a catastrophic terrorist attack is merely the tip of the iceberg.

Additionally, we should be worried about terrorists because all they need to do is strategically deposit a container of the Ebola virus into the water supply of a U.S. city, say, Philadelphia, and you can expect near “national extinction”. The initial flu-like symptoms would not be detected for at least a week and a half, which within that period would have allowed contamination of at least 1 million people. It is an airborne disease, so exponentially, additional millions of people would contract the incurable virus just by breathing the same air also breathed by the initially contaminated victims. The entire Eastern Seaboard would have to be quarantined, and travel to and fro from this area would have to be completely terminated, including the food supply. The epidemic could transform into a national spreading pandemic of diabolical and unbelievable proportions if the necessary safeguards are not deployed in an adroit and timely manner. The countless corpses would have to be incinerated. If it reaches uncontrollable levels the President would have to resort to the “worse case scenario solution”, the detonation of strategically located low-grade nuclear tactical devices to irradiate the Ebola contaminated environment and air, which would be the only solution able to neutralize the virus. This in turn would kill tens of millions of more Americans from radiation sickness, but would be absolutely essential in order to save and salvage what is left of the nation and the national populous.  (+ info)

Leptospirosis -- VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE READ

This incident happened recently in North Texas. A woman went boating one Sunday taking with her some cans of coke which she put into the refrigerator of the boat. On Monday she was taken to the hospital and placed in the Intensive Care Unit. She died on Wednesday.

The autopsy concluded she died of Leptospirosis. This was traced to the
can of coke she drank from, not using a glass. Tests showed that the can was infected by dried rat urine and hence the disease Leptospirosis.

Rat urine contains toxic and deathly substances. It is highly recommended thoroughly wash the upper part of soda cans before drinking out of them.
The cans are typically stocked in warehouses and transported straight to
the shops without being cleaned.

A study at NYCU showed that the tops of soda cans are more

Contaminated than public toilets (i.e).. full of germs and bacteria. So wash them with water before putting them to the mouth to avoid any kind of fatal accident.

Please forward this message to all the people you care about.

(I JUST DID)

Leptospirosis is an infectious disease that affects humans and animals. It results in a wide range of symptoms, and some people may have no symptoms at all. It is caused by a spiral-shaped bacterium (spirochete). Symptoms include high fever, chills, muscle aches, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, and jaundice (! yellow skin and eyes).

A definitive diagnosis requires laboratory testing of a blood or urine sample. Early detection is important because the disease can cause serious complications if not treated early in its course. These include kidney damage (nephrosis), meningitis (inflammation of the tissue around the brain or spinal cord), resp iratory distress and/or liver failure.
----------

I want you to read this:
Leptospirosis, better known as Weil's disease, is a potentially deadly illness caused by bacteria passed along to humans in contact with urine from diseased animals (rats, frogs, rabbits, snakes, pigs and dogs). It is picked up rurally from swimming in contaminated lakes and reservoirs. In cities, the bacteria are passed along more easily — people splashing through puddles in areas that have a large rodent population might contract the disease, and eating or drinking contaminated food and water is always a danger. Leptospirosis can also be contracted by rubbing eyes with dirty hands. People with open cuts and wounds are especially vulnerable to the bacteria, as it can be picked up almost anywhere.

As the rat population in cities grows, so does the potential for contact with this disease.

Leptospirosis typically causes aches, pains and fever that go away on their own. One in ten cases includes high fever, jaundice, meningitis (inflammation of the brain lining), acute kidney failure, internal bleeding and, occasionally, death. Victims can die if they develop serious kidney or liver complications. In extreme cases, death follows three to six days after infection. The disease is treatable with antibiotics.

In November 1998 leptospirosis killed eight people and hospitalized one hundred in China. In the same month in 1997, 22 people died from the same cause out of the 300 who were infected with it. In the United States, 100 to 200 cases of leptospirosis occur each year (with about half of those in Hawaii), according to the Center for Disease Control.

Another disease passed on through rat urine is hantavirus. It is transmitted to humans through breathing in particles of an infected rodent's urine, droppings or saliva. The virus becomes airborne when excrement dries. Early symptoms mimic the flu and can progress to respiratory failure. Since 1993, 21 deaths in the United States have been blamed on this disease.

In general, urine-encrusted soda cans are not the most likely purveyors of these diseases. Most cans of soda are packaged into cardboard boxes while still on the production line and thus aren't at any risk of contamination. Additionally, once bottlers have mixed soft drink syrup in with soda water and sweetener, they try to get the finished product to the consumer as expeditiously as possible. Soft drink bottlers don't warehouse large inventories of finished product for any length of time — freshness is everything, so the product is moved out quickly, leaving little opportunity for rodents to use the tops of cans as latrines. Nonetheless, it's still always a good idea to wipe off cans from exposed six-packs or those dispensed from drink machines, if for no other reason than to avoid picking up something passed on by the human handlers of the product.

28 weeks pregnant... PLEASE READ!?

Hi everyone... I had an ultrasound scan today and am a little worried. The doctor noticed that my baby's right kidney has some urine collection at the bottom and thinks that some urine has been allowed to travel back 'up' to the bottom of her kidney. For now he just wants to monitor this. He referred to it as 'reflux.' When I got home I did a little research and found out that congenital nephrosis could do this... and that's often linked to having a high alfafetaprotein level, which I do... has anyone ever experienced this? What was the outcome? Could this be congenital nephrosis, which would make sense considering my high protein level.?
For the person who asked what I eat b/c of my protein level... have you been pregnant? When you're 16 wks prego your doctor does bloodwork/triple screening and checks your protein level ( the baby releases protein into your blood!) to rule out probs like down syndrome and neural tube defects! Of course... those have been ruled out! Thanks anyway

see if you can get into contact with the user under the name d m. here is her question so you can look for it and maybe get some useful info from her. she says her first baby was born with urine reflux. good luck!!

Is it ok to get pregnant at the age of 35, I have one kid 2 years and planning for the second?
I weigh just 105 pounds and height is 5 feet.My first kid is born with problem of urine refluxes, will it effect my second kid too.
Please help

and this is the link from my web browser when looking at her question, don't know if it will help you find it or not.

Dieticians - Internists - Is kwashiorkor a possible symptom of our poor diet - too much white flour / corn syr?

I think many Americans are starving themselves because of their daily reliance on white flour for sustenance, whether rich or poor. Does white flour inhibit good digestion of other more protein rich foods? (Look at all the protruding bellies.) I'm looking at something that indicated that in a report as follows:

Protein-calorie malnutrition: Causes and incidence
(Professional Guide to Diseases (Eighth Edition))
Both kwashiorkor (edematous PCM) and marasmus (nonedematous PCM) are common in underdeveloped countries and in areas in which dietary amino acid
content is insufficient to satisfy growth requirements. Kwashiorkor typically occurs at about age 1, after infants are weaned from breast milk to a protein-deficient diet of starchy gruels or sugar water, but it can develop at any time during the formative years. Marasmus affects infants ages 6 to 18 months as a result of breast-feeding failure, or a debilitating condition such as chronic diarrhea.
In industrialized countries, PCM may occur secondary to chronic metabolic disease that decreases protein and calorie intake or absorption, or trauma that increases protein and calorie requirements. In the United States, PCM is estimated to occur to some extent in 50% of elderly people in nursing homes. Those who aren’t allowed anything by mouth for an extended period are at high risk of developing PCM. Conditions that increase protein-calorie requirements include severe burns and injuries, systemic infections, and cancer (accounts for the largest group of hospitalized patients with PCM). Conditions that cause defective utilization of nutrients include malabsorption syndrome, short-bowel syndrome, and Crohn’s disease.

Interesting read and yes, you have a valid point there.
I believe when manufactures add or take products out to produce a longer shelf life, we become unwittingly victims.
I also will state that man's desire to consume these products in large quantities also makes a statement to how well they care about their own bodies and therefore allowing them to become the blimps, encourage laziness and less outgoing as a person.
I find these chemicals are foreign to the human body and instead of helping ones digestion, actually does the opposite. It promotes build up and therefore a blockage to the body operating normally.
There is where the many problems of the body lies in wait for us. Some times quicker then we ever could realize.
It is sad that many of these traits are passed on during breast feeding and actual Development inside a mother's womb. However i wonder if this wasn't all a design by human engineering to cause a decrease in the human population or is it just a consequence of a "on Demand" society.
I learned a lot about nutritional values when i searched out about diets for myself. There are some products now that i will never eat again
Great question and deserving my further attention as well as others.  (+ info)
