postmortem?

if someone kill them self and leave a letter saying what they have taken and when do they still have a postmortem done and can they requst in a note not to have one done on them
----------

In case of a suicide, the person's wishes not to have an autopsy can't be respected... especially since a murderer might use this method to conceal his crime. The vast majority of places (including the US and most of Europe) require autopsies on suicide victims, regardless of their or their families' wishes.  (+ info)

Why is postmortem done on accident victims?

Suppose there is a plane or a train accident. Everybody knows the reason of death for all the victims is an accident. Why then is a postmortem conducted on the bodies? What would they be looking for? Do the postmortem reports throw up different reasons for different bodies? If yes why? If not why the postmortem?
----------

The accident is not the cause of death, it's only the cause of the injury that caused death. It could be that the victim had a heart attack or stroke and that's what caused the accident or that the accident has caused severe injuries to the lungs or heart. It's also done to rule out any suspicious circumstances.  (+ info)

Is postmortem compulsary if a person dies bcoz of some disease?

my aunty is 53 yrs old has has lot many complications like diabties, no proper blood circulation, gangre,SLE, cardial issue..etc..etc. and she is under medication. if she dies @ home, do we need to take her for most mortem. i mean is it compulsary to do post mortem?
----------

Postmortem simply means after death.
If you are asking if she will need to have an autopsy, that depends on her doctor. If her doctor will sign off on her death certificate without one, then no.
When someone has severe medical issues and is sort of expected to not be around long, sometimes doctors do this.  (+ info)

What is possible postmortem findings & their implications for the investigation.?

A 50 yrs old man is found collapsed in the street 30 minutes after an argument with a group of youths, at which no blows were exchanged. On his arrival at hospital was annaunced dead.
----------

Ummmm, vague question.
The possible PM findings can disclose 1. death by natural causes (heart attack, stroke, etc. Then up to the investigation to decide if incident had any bearing to exacerbate the death (hard to prove). 2. Indeterminate findings--can't determine cause of death--investigation probably will go no where. 3. Death by some suspicious means--they find a bleed, bruises etc--then up to investigation to prove an act by the youths was direct cause of death (prove causality).

postmortem depression?

what are the symptoms of new mom with postmortem depression? what can it be treated?
----------

Postmortem means occurring after death. I believe the correct expression is postpartum depression, which means occuring after have giving birth.

Postpartum depression is also known as the "baby blues," and is not at all uncommon. Sometimes, the blues will clear up spontaneously after a while; othertimes, medical intervention--usually via antidepressants--is required.

Depression is very treatable. Don't be afraid to mention this to your doctor. I'm sure your doctor has had scores of postpartum patients with the "baby blues."

Don't be afraid of the stigma attached with taking antidepressants. Some people are off put because they recognize antidepressants as "psychiatric" medicines. If this concerns you at all, don't mention that you are taking antidepressants to others. It's nobody's business but yours.

By all means seek treatment for any long-standing blues. Medicine will probably only need to be taken for an interim period, although you will have to be weaned off medications in the future.

Watch out for Effexor, however, if the doctor tries to prescribe that antidepressant. That antidepressant is notoriously difficult to discontinue or be weaned off from. (Personal experience here; it took almost a year before symptoms of withdrawal stopped.)

You don't have to suffer with postpartum depression. Seek help, and you'll be enjoying life and your new baby very quickly!

Best of luck with your health problem. You and your new child are in my prayers.  (+ info)

miscarriage.... postmortem? can they tell?

my sister in law has just found out she has lost her baby although she should be over 10wks the baby didnt make it past 6wks,
she will be going in to have a D&C but has been told they will do a postmortem on the baby to see why it didnt survive, can this be done!!
i also lost a baby at almost 11wks but it didnt make it past 6wks but was never offered such a thing.
she has asked me for reassurance on this and have no idea what to tell her. has anyone else found out why the baby didnt survive?
we are in the UK so things may be done different here.
thank you x x x x
she started bleeding last week they only scanned her today and are not doing the D&C until wednesday, does this not seem like along time to leave her waiting?
i was offered my D&C the same day or next morning.
i chose to let nature takes its cause, and did not have the D&C which is why im finding it hard to answer her Qs.
they are both so upset i have no idea what to tell them, even my mum has phoned me to see what i think!!!!
----------

I feel for your both. My body thought it was pregnant for 4 months and the baby died at 6 wks. They thought that it would be better if it was to come out naturally than a D & C. There may be scaring when they have to scrape the baby out. Sometimes they test, expecially if their is a history of miscarrages or a family history. Best of luck. These things happen, but try -try again.  (+ info)
