I find myself in malls or supermarket with people staring at me...and some even get frightened.

That's odd. Two weeks ago you posted that your wife ran off with your minister.  (+ info)

Priapism Causing Sleep Loss?

I know this sounds like a joke, but does anyone else have sleep problems related to priapism? Priapism is a prolonged, painful erection. It wakes me up several times (3-4) throughout the night. Though many men only wish they had my problem, this is not fun. I'm only 28 years old. I've read that this can lead to other ED's. I plan on visiting a urologist but for now, what can I do?
----------

Priapism can be caused by spinal cord injury. It may also be a complication of sickle cell anemia or leukemia. It also may be a reflex response to nerve irritants.

Whatever the cause, I know it's miserable for you and it's no joke. I encourage you to get to a urologist as soon as possible.

Good luck.  (+ info)

Why doesn't Viagra cause priapism in young healthy male? (23 year old)?

Wouldn't increased blood flow lead to a priapism, but I guess not, how come?
Why take it? Doc gave it to me for performance anxiety, but i'm still considered young and healthy.
----------

No, it will most likely not cause a priapism in a healthy young male and will not do much for the healthy young guy anyway.
This is a good article

Q. What Happens if You Take Viagra and You Don't Really Need It?

A. Men who say they don't have any problems achieving or maintaining erections say that using Viagra dramatically changes the sexual experience, but not always in a good way.

They say taking Viagra gives them a far more rigid erection that is so intense that it's almost uncomfortable, causing them to lose some sensation and making it difficult to finally achieve orgasm. One person described the feeling like puffing your cheeks full of air and then pushing them out as hard as you can.

Others say the physical reaction happens so effortlessly that it becomes intense long before the man's own level of excitement can catch up, creating a feeling of detachment. "The disembodied feeling is a really profound feeling," says the ViagraStories.com editor, a 33-year-old San Francisco man who has used the drug three times.

Mr. Brykman, managing editor of National Lampoon, used only one of the six pills his doctor gave him, and also says he felt disassociated from the experience. He says that although physically it worked, "it didn't have anything to do with arousal. As far as excitement levels or arousal levels, it didn't live up to my expectations."

Those who have used Viagra "recreationally," however, say the drug, nonetheless, makes it much easier to sustain an erection and achieve a second erection relatively quickly after orgasm.

Pfizer balks at the notion of a recreational use for Viagra, contending that if someone can feel the effect of Viagra, then they, by definition, have lost some sexual function. And the reality is, sexual function starts to fade in the 20s.

"Viagra helps to improve erectile function which isn't optimal, " says Pfizer's Dr. Sweeney. "If you're a 20-year-old college guy with no diseases and you have great erectile function, it's not going to do anything for you. It can't make it go beyond normal."  (+ info)

Known anyone who has suffered from Priapism?

yes, priapism is an extended erection lasting more than four hours. The blood is engorged into the penis and will not dissipate. Medical intervention must be taken. Most men thinks priapism sounds great but would not think so if they ever had it. It is very painful and sometimes takes injections into the penis to alleviate the problem.  (+ info)

Why in the world would you call a doctor if you had priapism? I can think of better people to call.?

Ummmm....I don't have a penis; but this sounds positively awful!!!

Priapism is the presence of a persistent, usually painful, erection of the penis unrelated to sexual stimulation or desire. It is a true urologic emergency that may lead to permanent erectile dysfunction and penile necrosis if left untreated.

Did I have priapism or no?

I took 25mg's of Viagra (I have anxiet some times) last night. I didn't actually end up having sex that night. And fell asleep 2 hours after taking it. A few hours later I woke up during the night with an erection. There was no pain. But I was worried, and the erection faded. Did I have a priapism err??
Then why did I wake up with an erection?

I don't understand your question.

Is there any other term for priapism?

I need it for my report...what causes it?
----------

Priapism is a painful condition of continous erection of the penis. It is seldom related to sexual excitement and usually indicates a serious disorder. Th e cause is often unknown but priapism has been associated with leukemia and sickle cell anemia, as well as with neurological damage following spinal cord injury. It is thought to occur when blood clots in th epenile blood vessels, rather than flowing normally. Blood , is therefore, unable to leave the penis and causes continued erection. Th econdition often is treated by sedation and anticogulation medications ( medicines that prevent clotting).  (+ info)

How common is it for a YOUNG male to have a prostate infection?

I have priapism and it is very embarassing. I can't urinate also when I have it. I have had prostate infections for the past 3 years ( I am 34). I'm seeing a doctor and taking antibiotics but the problem persists. None of my friends have mentioned they have ever had it so Im starting to think Im a WEIRDO!!.
I'm horrified because when I went to the ER last year for a broken wrist, there were only young immature acting female nurses.
I'm absolutely terrified that if the occasion arises that I need to visit the ER again (my prostatitis) - I'll be too modest or embarassed and feel like a freak!
----------

It is very common in young men to get prostate infection. Good antibiotics ease the problem. Drinking plenty of water,(2-3 liters/day) avoiding spicy foods and deep fried oily foods help. Drinking warm water regularly help to resist prostate infection
