Can you illustrate the ways which the Rubella virus is trasmitted and explain how to prevent the transmission.

basically i need all the details.
Also you dont have to tell me what a rubella virus is, i already know it.
----------

It is airborne- to prevent it- wear a mask around said person or better yet- get the vaccine  (+ info)

How big of a concern is Rubella, really?

I've heard it can damage the baby if you catch it while pregnant. But I've never met anyone who's had it, and I don't intend to stay in the house for 9 months when I'm pregnant just because I'm not vaccinated! (I'm severely allergic to two of the ingredients so it's not even an option, I'd probably die from anaphylaxis.) Is this something I really need to be worried about, or is rubella rare enough I shouldn't be concerned?

how many rubella vaccines should be taken in my life?

I am a 30 years old undergoing IVF, I had rubella vaccination at age 6, 14 and two more vaccines within last six month but still the blood test result shows low level of protection even my GP says it is protective but the fertility doctor says you need to have another vaccination. Is it possible to have more than 4 vaccines, isnt it harmful for my body?
----------

It isn't harmful to your body. If you are trying to have a baby, you really should get it right away. You can't get the shot once you are already pregnant.

While rubella isn't normally a big deal, it can be dangerous if a woman gets while she's pregnant. It can cause miscarriage, still birth, preterm labor, multiple birth defects. mental retardation and developmental problems. It is called congenital rubella syndrome/CRS.

If you end up with Rubella during your 1st trimester, there is an 85% chance your baby will have CRS. If you catch it during weeks 13 - 16, your baby has around a 50% chance. If you catch it during the rest of your second trimester, your baby has about a 25% chance of getting it.  (+ info)

where in the uk can i get single measles mumps and rubella jabs?

I've read many articles and pieces of research for and against MMR. I recall my cousin and my own sister being fine before the jab and how they were blank and responseless afterward and later diagnosed with autism

I have spoken to people whose children were not autistic, but experienced a change in their child which could not happen overnight as in the instance of their child having MMR
i know the risks of measles mumps and rubella and this decision has been agonising

From my own studies, i believe that there are too many identical experiences following this jab, and papers in the UK (wakefield 1998), dublin (o'leary 2000) and even the USA in 2003 (krigsman) to name a few are more than coincidence
i believe mmr is safe to the majority, but that it triggers the gene for autism in children who have it from hereditary sources
i want my son to have seperate vaccines so that he is safe, but i will not risk losing every milestone he has achieved
So where can i get the single jabs?
alongside all this i am training to be a childcare practitioner and have researched each virus seperately, the vaccination and its side effects and i have also seen children in my setting who have had the jab and even at 3 and 4 years of age changed in themselves "overnight".

how dangerous it it for me to be around people with Rubella even though my doc says I am imuun?

I am 18 weeks pregnant and my brother in law just got Rubella, my husband spent a lot of time with him. I have heard that you can get it twice. Does anyone know anyting about this?
----------

I'd stay away just in case. It's certainly rare to get it if you've been innoculated against it.  (+ info)

Once vaccinated, how long does the vaccine for Rubella last?

I had a rubella vaccine in 11/2002. Am I still vaccinated?
----------

There is very little evidence that immunity to measles, mumps or rubella reduces with time. It has been proven that children who have been immunised with MMR will remain immune for at least:

27 years against measles
18 years against rubella
14 years against mumps  (+ info)

Who remebers getting the Rubella needle?

I have to get the Rubella on Monday and i'm really scared. People have told me that it really hurts and you'll feel that one, people have said that they've fainted from it and some have said that it doesn't hurt. I want to know you're honest opinions on this please. Does it hurt?
----------

IT's no worse than any other immunization. I have to get one again in March, after I have my baby because my immunization didn't hold up.  (+ info)

Why would a fertility specialist recommend the rubella vaccine?

Why would a fertility specialist recommend the rubella vaccine? Why does he suggest a waiting period after the vaccination and before conceiving?
----------

If you have rubella, it can screw up your fetus big time. The waiting period is possibly in case you have a reaction to the vaccine.  (+ info)

How soon after having the mmr jab is your child protected against measles, mumps and rubella?

Is the protection immediate or is there a delay? If so, how long?
----------

i've heard it takes six weeks for the body to recover after a single exposure to a vaccine (ie one disease/virus), so for mmr possibly longer.

but then theres also the well known fact that mmr isnt actually a guarantee against the diseases. Its around 90% accurate after one dose.

i had my children aged 17 and 20 years, and i had mmr as a child, aged 3 and 6 years. i'm not immune to rubella, so clearly, two doses either didnt work, or wore off! not meaning to scare you, but thats my experience!

i would also add, after NATURAL exposure to chicken pox, which i never had myself, but nursed my sister when she had it, i developed immunity confirmed by a blood test, which drs said will last for life.

dont put your child at risk of exposure unless you have to, and after say, three months, get a blood test for immunity. thats the advice i'll give even though i'm utterly anti mmr myself.

kind regards  (+ info)
