you might have an imblalance of vitamins to mutch or to little you also could have strained an optical muscle I would schedual a image field test to rule out a desease that is not in the seface of your eye but behind the eye and I would also go have a complete chem pannel done to check for vitamin deficancies or over doses, some times your body will not use the vitamins properly. if none of this works I would ask if the images from your mri were with die because sometimes they don't run them with die/contrast and things are there don't show up on the images. it could also have to do with subection to higher levels of mold or stress being awake to long or a simple strain to optic lens, please push your doctors to do more extencive test some times doctors think that the patients of overreacting to things and order simple test just appease the when doing the same test with dies or more definition will show more  (+ info)

Migraine changes?

I no longer get the headache part, but I still get the jagged flashing lights (scintillating scotoma). Why would the headaches go away, but the flashing stick around?

I'm seeing little, speckley moving lights. What is it?

I see little, speckley, moving lights, that move in a circular manner around my vision. They are all in little patterns, for lack of a better term, that seem to revolve around a central point

. There are numerous (too many to count) specks of light, and they can vary in shape from a small dot to a small, lightning bolt shape ( think a short, skinny version of pichachu's tail. Sorry for the pokemon reference, but its hard to articulate what I'm seeing.)

My dad has a history of ocular migraines, and I have had a couple myself, however they seem to differ from scintillating scotoma that I have experienced, as scotoma impairs my vision, while these lights don't seem to affect my vision much at all (I aced a vision test) except in the dark, when they seem to moderately affect my vision.

These lights seem to always be there, however it varies in severity: Sometimes, I hardly notice it, and I have to look for them to see them. Other times the speckles are very pronounced and visible, particularly when looking at bright lights, like the sky on a sunny day, or our LCD screen TV when its displaying a light color.

I have had this for a couple of years. It started when I was around 14, when I was doing football, when I first noticed them during football practice when I would look at the sky. I saw an eye doctor, and his diagnosis was scintillating scotoma brought on by migraines. Since having experienced scotoma however,I no longer think that the diagnosis is correct, both because of the differences I saw between the two, and because of how scintillating scotoma normally is has an accute onset and ending, and is usually over with within 30-40 minutes, whereas my condition seems constant. However, it seems to have become more noticeable in the last few months.
I'm scheduling another appointment, but I thought I would draw on ideas from Answers so that I could discuss said possibilities with my doctor.

It could be a detached retina. It could be what the doctor said. If you don't think that diagnosis is correct, why don't you get another one?  (+ info)

FRONTAL LOBE LESION...HELP!!!!?

BRAIN LESION.......?
I will make a long story short... or try to at least. Last year on August 19, I fainted in my husband's Aunt's front yard... He gave me CPR to revive me. I did not go to the hospital, as I chalked it up to a hot Texas summer day... The following week I was hit with a massive Migraine (which I have had sporatically before, began during my first pregnancy 4 years ago) I went to the E.R. and was given a shot of Demerol to ease the migraine pain. I have the classic migraine, or commonly known as Scintillating Scotoma, or visual and speech defects during migraine. The ER Doc asked me if I'd had a CT Scan in the past...my answer was no. So he ordered one. He came back in 15 minutes with results of a 4mm Lesion in the left frontal lobe. He ordered an MRI and MRA to be done in Sept. of 07. The lesion proved to be "non-enhancing" with contrast material, but was still labeled as "questionable"... MY QUESTION IS::: This is the ONLY info I have ever received about my "condition", and if in fact it is not a condition, no one ever explained anything to me. I never went for a follow up in November as I was ordered to because my husband lost his job and lost our insurance, and I am JUST NOW getting insurance back, effective 11-1-08... Has anyone ever heard of a "frontal lobe lesion" or anything related? All I find online is horror stories about brain cancer, and tumor survivors and severe personality disorders, none of which I feel I have. Help someone, please shed light on this issue for me!!!

A lesion is a very broad term. In your case, it merely means there's something there in your brain that doesn't belong there. That something could be anything. It doesn't have to be cancer, other things can cause a lesion too. That's why the followups were ordered, so they can figure out what it is. Since you didn't go, right now, no one knows what it is, all we know right now is that you have an unidentified 4mm object. So, instead of getting a panic attack. Calm down. Take a breather. When your insurance kicks back in, go back to the doctors and have it checked out.  (+ info)

Lesions are often associated with White Matter Disease. White matter disease is associated with adult neurological disorders such as Alzheimers, Dimentia, Multiple Sclerosis, and Huntingtons Disease. I would recommend you try to make an appointment for the nearest date after your insurance picks up. Write down all of your symptoms and take them with you to the appt.
I know exactly how you feel with the waiting. I have a melanoma on my neck and have been experiencing bad neuro imparement. I have to wait until October until I can see a doc. Good luck and my prayers are with you.  (+ info)

What could be the reason for a black band in my vision field,,when I look at the TV?

This in followed by a purple haze under the black band. When I look at my straight up and down blinds, some of them curve. I have an Ambsler grid and at first thought I had macula degeneration in my left eye. But the Ophthalmologist said I had a cataract that should come out in the left eye. My question is this black band covers the top 1/3 of the TV, and sounds very much like a scotoma. This cataract has been coming on for some time, why would this come on in one day? Any one else have a cataract act like this?
I was using the TV as an Example, on an Amsler Grid, I see the black part above the white dot, with the purple haze below it. When in the bathroom looking at the bathtub, the band moves as my eyes move.
But as I look up as when closing my verticle blinds, the lines curve where my eyes focus. The Ophthalamologist immediately focused on my cataract, but cataracts usually present as blurry, this looks more like degeneration of the macula. When I asked how does my macula look, he replied about 73 years old, which is my age. I had my eyes examined in Feb, last year and was informed I had cataracts in both eyes, but this started as a black band in my peripheral vision with white triangles floating in it. This lasted about ten minutes, the next day I got up to watch TV and the black band was there with the purple haze in one eye. This is a really strange way for a cataract to act and I wondered if anyone else had had one act this way. I am thinking Scotoma.
And getting a 2nd opinion
I find it strange that the black band has moved from my peripheral vision to front.
I never read of a cataract behaving like this, and thought I might find someone else with an like experience.
----------

i can tell you from experience that the waveyness you see when you look at your blinds is a very common symptom of cataracts. (any straight line i look at has a curve in it such as door frames, window frames, wood that runs along the wall at the floor, if i look at the sides of the computer screen, stop sign pole....)
you may also loose your perhiferral vision. and your vision may become cloudy.

as far as the black band is concerned i need to ask you a couple questions. you say you went to the dr last feb (2008) did you see this black band then or did the black band start happening recently?
the black band is called a floater and it is normal for all people to see floaters at some point in their life and some people have them all the time and they don't go away. if this is a simple floater than you have nothing to worry about. but this could also be a retinal detachment. if you saw the black band when you went to the dr last feb he may have said there was not problem cuz either it is just a floater and he was not worried about it or if it is a detached rentina at that time it may have been to early for him to see the detachment.
has the black band gottne worse?
if it has then i suggest contacting your dr ASAP cuz if it is a retinal detachment it needs to get fixed immediately.
if it has not gotten any worse you may still want to make an appointment just to get a check up.

and are you planning on getting the cataract fixed? you really should it could make a world of difference in your vision. its a pretty routine surgery especially if you don't have any other eye conditions.

i've had a detached retina twice in my left eye and i'm now blind in that eye and i've had a detached retina twice in my right eye but i can still see out of that one.
due to the surgeries the cataract in my right eye has gotten much worse in the last year and hopefully soon i will be able to get that fixed. they wanted to wait 1 year after my last surgery to do it so they knew my eye was stable (1 year since last surgery will be mach 20th) so i can't wait.

good luck and be sure to see your eye dr soon.  (+ info)

MEWDS?? AZOOR??? eye help please!!!?

I get migraines with aura, quite severly. about a year ago the aura kindof stayed. I get almost a pixelated vision - like looking at a bad quality photo or a bad tv signal. It often looks like it is raining imnside for me. This also makes it more difficult to be sure if i have a migraine. They have been getting more severe and distracting lately. I saw a doctor who thought it could be Multiple whilte dot syndrome or Azoor. I looked them up on the net however, i dont get central scotoma and neither mentioned the symptoms i suffer. I am a teenager, i dont know if that will help but it might...
If you have any ideas they would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If you've already been diagnosed by an ophthalmologist then none of us here would have any better opinions since none of us are doctors.  (+ info)
