He would not know why he did that particular movement . After some time , the same pattern movement would occur again and so on . It is common in diseases affecting the basal ganglia .

is this a Stereotypic movement disorder?

I have a habit of shaking my leg and I don’t know for how long I had this problem
As a child I would move a lot when sleeping and I still do but not as bad.
Now I have a new problem it seems hard to stop slapping my self, usually my face I would slap. It is starting to annoy me but I find it not easy to stop. I also get the urge to bite. I spit sometimes but I mange to hide it from people but it is embarrassing to even write this down. I also have this problem when I would move my hand/arm but I did not really intend to move it.
I remember as a child lying down in bed then I screamed, dad came up fast and asked if I was ok and I was ok and now I am 19 and I would get an urge to shout.
The psychiatrist thinks I have shaming ocd because of the obsessive thoughts I get of dong harm so now I am on antidepressants and I would be seeing him again on the 22th of this month I think.
Is this normal what I listed above?
What do you think is best to do?
I am in the uk.
Thanks.

i'm trying to figure out if i have restless leg syndrome or periodic limb movement disorder?

I have always thought I had RLS. I've had symptoms since I was 14. I have been taking Provigil for 6 to 9 months which is used to treat Narcolepsy, among other things. I'm now wondering if I might indeed have Periodic Limb Movement Disorder as I also have issues with my arms and hands and what I thought was RLS has gotten much worse.

What is the reason of a 1 month baby's vowel movement disorder?

My friend's child is 1 month and half and for three days he doesn't eliminate body waste..What may be the reason and the solution.

Thanks

after the first little while, it can be perfectly normal for babies to go several days between Bowel movements. Even longer for a breast fed baby. My DS1 used to go 5-7 days! IT was great :) This is because breast milk is so easy to digest and so amazing that there is potentially very little left over. that being said, every baby is different. My second was exclusively brest fed as well and he pooed twice a day :) Every baby is different, but I would say this is normal - especially if the baby is breastfed.  (+ info)

Can persons with Rhytmical Movement Disorder become pregnant?

I've had this disorder since i was small...i thought i was weird but then i realize it is something weird and it has a name. Also i have a very irregular menstrual cycle. It comes around every six months. Can i become pregnant if i have these two complications? I'm eighteen.
----------

I'm 25 and have always had rhythmic movement disorder. I'm 31 weeks pregnant with my first child and I had no problem conceiving. Your irregular periods could make it difficult to conceive, you should talk to you doctor about that.  (+ info)

Stereotypic thought disorder?

I experience bizarre looping verbal thoughts, especially right before my period. I might think "I love you" over and over again, and then a few minutes later it will switch to "I want you to laugh" or "She bangs her head". Most times the thoughts are silly and harmless, but occassionally they can be kind of sad and violent. Unconsciously, I will mumble along with the stream because they're so incessant. The looping stops when I become distracted or engrossed in something, but returns the moment I start daydreaming again.

I know OCD sufferers deal with repeating thoughts as obsessions, but my thoughts don't produce anxiety. Sometimes I find them kind of soothing and hypnotic. Nor do I feel a compulsion to vocalize them. When I "echo" them out loud, I do so without thinking about it. Almost like a tic, but without an urge.

I have an adult-onset stereotypic movement disorder which also worsens right before my period. It occurs to me that my repeating thoughts and the movements could be related.

Has anyone ever heard of a stereotypic thought disorder? And could this be a potential warning sign of a more serious condition, like schizophrenia?
----------

I've never heard of "Stereotypic Thought Disorder". What you're describing sounds more like a mild form of OCD that may or may not be related to your SMD. I'm guessing it is related because of the timing with your menses. If it's just a curiosity and does not bother you or interfere with your daily functioning, then you're fine.

I doubt it's an indicator of schizophrenia because you're so self aware of what's happening.  (+ info)

What do you do for restless leg syndrome and periodic limb movement disorder. Also have Fibromyalgia.?

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 11 years ago. Prior to that I was diagnosed with Hashmotos hypothyroidism, an auto-immune disease attacking the thyroid. 3 years ago, when trying to DC a med for Fibromyalgia, I learned that I had developed Essential Tremors. Now I've moved on to Restless Leg and Periodic Limb movement disorder. I'm dealing with the central nervous system here, and wonder if I don't have Chronic Lyme, although all tests have been negative. I grew up in the woods of a lyme infested area of PA. I'm dealing with it all, but the lack of sleep associated with Fibromyalgia and the waking from periodic limb movement disorder and minor Sleep Apnea are reaking havoc with my life. Anybody out there dealing with the same mess??? I'm all ears.
----------

Hi. I'm sorry to hear that you have had such a difficult road. I thought that your question was interesting because I have a good friend that has dealt with the Hashmotos hypothyroidism disease and related issues. She has been taking a product called Reliv and her thyroid is now functioning normally and she just does not deal with all the annoying little problems anymore. It truely is a miracle! I am sure she would be willing to share her story with you. Let me know if you are interesting in hearing more.

Take care and God bless,
Sherri
