rehab for movement disorder throat so can removed peg tube feeding?

8/2005 husband 's swallowing became limited becaue of either movement disorder or parkinsonian symptoms caused by seizures and depakote medicine for treatment. Got worse due to severe aspiration pneumonia causing congestive heart failure. Peg tube feeding is all he has now. I would be so happy even if he could just supplement the Peg tubing with some oral food/liquid.

best treatment for restless leg disorder and periodic limb movement?

I get creepy crawlys in my legs at night and my spouse says that i twitch or move my legs it keeps him awake.
----------

Treatment of restless leg syndrome is first directed toward any underlying illness, if known. For example, a search for iron deficiency by blood testing to reveal underlying iron deficiency anemia. Reduction or elimination of caffeine and alcohol can be very helpful. Stopping smoking can also diminish symptoms. Getting better sleep and exercise can help some persons affected by restless legs.

Medications used to treat restless leg syndrome include carbidopa- levodopa, opioids (such as propoxyphene) or tramadol (Ultram) for intermittent symptoms, carbamazepine, clonazepam, diazepam, triazolam, temazepam, baclofen, bromocriptine and clonidine. Also, recently, gabapentin (Neurontin) has been found helpful. The FDA has now approved ropinirole (Requip) for the treatment of restless leg syndrome. Other treatments that have been helpful for some patients include avoiding caffeine, warm/cold baths, electric nerve stimulation, oral magnesium, and acupuncture.  (+ info)

----------

I do not understand the term 'heave etching?'. However, I have seizures with abnormal movement disorder and acute abdominal pain in the solar plexis area. These are not diseases but disorders. It is unusual to have abnormal movement disorder from birth, mostly likely to occur in the first year after birth I think, although I cannot provide references for this as this is not a specific disorder but a symptom, could be various things. Any other symptoms?  (+ info)

Can you help me about last mediation of blepharospasm as an disorder movement and one type of dystonia?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by your question, but benign blepharospasm (involunatry spasms of the muscles around the eyes) can be due to multiple factors. Stress is most common; many people experience blepharospasm on at least an occasional basis.
When severe, your eyes feel as if they operate like a camera lens taking a picture (your muscles feel and look like they are closing in around your eyes), and in the most severe cases you are not able to open your eyes during the spasms. In more severe cases, botox injections are used to treat the condition, as it works to paralyze the muscles, no longer allowing them to contract.
If the spasms are stress related, then environmental stress reduction should help you.
Blepharospasms are also fairly common in cervical dystonia/spasmodic torticollis, a neurological condition involving involuntary contraction of muscles in the neck area (and sometimes face).
As far as prescription meds, a doctor generally starts with more mild medications such as muscle relaxers, then moves to meds specific to movement disorders (i.e. meds for Parkinson's), and uses botox/chemical denervation later on if other treatments do not work.
I also echo the previous poster in the importance of speaking with your primary physician and/or neurologist if you are experiencing this.  (+ info)

epilepsy or movement disorder?

How do they tell the difference between the two? I have "fits" and the docs will send me to a neuro, the neuro will do a sleep deprived EEG, nothing happens during the EEG but I'll have the "fits" off and on for days after. Because nothing happens during the EEG the neuro always says movement disorder, but the reg. docs all say that does fit and eventually I end up back at the neuro. Who's right and are there better ways than a sleep deprived EEG to test?
----------

I've had epilepsy since I was 12 and and EEG is not always going to be give the doctors the answer they want when when they want it. If you are having seizures of fits they just need to find out what meds are going to keep you stable so you don't have to keep going to the doctor for them to figure it out. If they can't figure it out between the two try a new neurologist for a second opinion.  (+ info)

How do I look normalw ith my eye movement etc?

I suffer from a disorder called Social Anxiety Disorder, and I feel like everyone is looking at me sometimes. Its hard to explain, and really nerve racking sometimes. My question is how do I look normal in public? Sometimes I get so caught up with my anxiety I forget whats really happening. How do I look normal with eye movement and everything? Please help me I think when im nervous I just look forward and at nobody with no eye contact n look weird plz help
----------

I've had the same thing for about 15 years, so I can tell you a few answers even if I don't seem to follow them myself (I *would*, but the government would stop all my benefits - Joke!)

The chief problem lies within your question itself - you feel that you aren't acting 'normal', so everybody stares at you, which makes you self-conscious, which makes you over-analyse how you look (which makes you feel that you aren't acting 'normal'.....etc.)

The secret way out of this is to remember that nobody (except maybe Superman) can see how you *feel* when you go out for, say, a walk in the park, but you will be more likely to be noticed if you act noticably twitchy or afraid; and let's face it, most strangers are not outside simple to stare at passers-by - they are going to work, or going home, or shopping or whatever, and don't pay you more than the half-second glance that they give everybody.

The same applies to you, with a couple of additions. Firstly, glance at people as you go by - a half-second look at their face and no more is perfectly natural - and if you happen to make eye-contact remember that it's just a coincidence that you looked at them at the same time as they looked at you. They were almost certainly NOT STARING at you!
Secondly, if (or when) you start to feel anxious, take a few *discreet* deep breaths - this sounds like an old-wives tale but it really does work to make you feel slightly more relaxed.
As a more permanent solution, you may have to find an answer to the question of why you feel anxious in the first instance - but that's something only you can solve!  (+ info)
