When does your stomach start to get hard during pregnancy?

I'm about 6 weeks pregnant. How many weeks until my stomach will start to get bigger and harder?
----------

The uterus doesn't actually get big enough to start peeping out from the top of the pelvis until you are at about 12-13 weeks. At that point you may be able feel a little bit of a hardness just above your pubic bone, depending on your build (women with more cuddly tummies don't tend to feel it as readily).

The uterus will then grow upwards at the rate of about 1cm a week until you are about 34 weeks pregnant.

For most women, unless you've had a tummy tuck operation, the uterus will reach your belly button around 19-20 weeks.

Any tummy tightness/bulging you may be feeling at 6 weeks is due to changes in your digestive system. Some women experience bloating and/or constipation at this time which can make their lower abdomen feel a bit distended. But this is pretty normal.

All too soon you'll have a tummy to show off - when you're actually pregnant tiem seems to go slow, but once you've had your baby you'll wonder where the time went!

Good luck.  (+ info)

How do I get my lower stomach toned back in to shape?

After I had my son two and a half years ago I have had this drooping lower stomach and until the past couple of months I have really wanted for it to finally go away. I have been doing a fifteen minute workout everyday that targets your stomach and I have lost weight but the sagging is still there. Any suggestions?

HOME REMEDIES FOR PARASITES

Dietary fibre may help to reduce the rate of Giardia lamblia by inducing mucous secretion and reducing the attachment of the trophozoites. Fibre may also prevent the growth of beneficial bacteria and provide an environment, which is harmful to bacteria.
Garlic has long been used traditionally to treat bacterial, viral and protozoal diseases.
Eat 1 cup of grated Carrot in the morning 1 hour before breakfast for 4-5 days.

Mix 1 tblspn raw Papaya juice with1 tspn of honey, take this first thing in the morning. This should be followed by a glass of warm milk, to which 1 tspn of castor oil has been added. This treatment should be done for 2 days.
Drink aloe Vera juice to eliminate worms.
Eat fresh garlic and pumpkin seeds to get rid of worms.

Take bistort, black walnut, cascara sagrada, chamomile, garlic, herbal pumpkin, male fern, papaya, primrose root, or taheebo to expel the worms.

Place a drop of black walnut extract on the tongue three times a day for several days as a preventative measure in children.
Take 1/2 tsp of powdered fenugreek seeds (methi) with water for a few days.
Eat a few tomatoes in the morning empty stomach.
Eat cranberries or papayas frequently. Fasting on raw pineapples for three days kills tapeworm. Cranberries, papaya and fresh pineapple contain enzymes that are anti-parasitic.

How long after anesthesia is the stomach fully back to normal?

This morning I went in for a bit of anesthesia for a small procedure. I got out of this at about 1pm and it's 3:30pm now. The doctor said for a few hours, the stomach wouldn't be okay and to wait until your hungry. But I had planned on going out to eat soon, so how long would it take until my stomach fully recovered and I could eat pretty much anything again?
----------

You'll be fine. The main issue with anesthesia is that it can cause nausea. I'm guessing that the doctor told you to wait so that you wouldn't throw up if you hadn't cleared the anesthesia. So go for it. If you're hungry enough to eat, you'll be fine.  (+ info)

How can you tell the difference between having the stomach flu and a bacterial infection: food poisoning?

I have experienced what I thought was the stomach flu this week. It began with a headache followed by a temperature and vomitting and diahorrea. At day 4 I felt much better except now I have bloatedness and my stomach seems very irritable? Could this just be part of recovering from stomach flu or could I have a bacterial infection?
----------

The difference between stomach flu (sic) and a bacterial infection caused by food poisoning-
There's no such thing a stomach 'flu.

You know those TV ads for yoghurt that contains "good bacteria"?
Well, you already have lots of good bacteria living inside your intestines. Some were given to you by your mother when she breastfed you and some you've picked up during your life from the food you've eaten.
They all live happily inside you, helping to digest the food you eat.
If something throws them out of kilter- say some new bacteria try to muscle in on their territory (food poisoning), then you become unwell; your small intestine becomes a battleground, food is not digested and it exits anyway it can- vomit if it's near enough to the top, or diarrhoea if it's lower down. Your bodies own defences get involved to sort out the problem (this can also result in D&V- your defences don't discriminate between "good" and "bad" bacteria- both are alien to the body. The helpful ones are only tolerated in the digestive system because technically it's outside the body (not in contact with blood)).

I digress.

Basically, you've had a bacterial infection & it's getting better.

Don't worry about having lost all your good bacteria- colonies hang around in out-of-the-way places like the appendix and will pop out and start repopulating your gut as soon as the cost is clear.
Interestingly- when you go on holiday and don't drink the local water 'cos it'll make you ill; the reason the locals get away with drinking it is 'co they've been drinking it all their life and are already colonised with the local bacteria. They'd probably have just the same problem if they started drinking your local water.
Bottled water has all bacteria removed from it to make it drinkable to everyone.  (+ info)

Why does my stomach start gurgling and hurting after I drink milk?

Hi so I usually don't drink milk at all during the week but usually on the weekends I'll have a bowl of cereal and put a little milk in it. After I drink it my stomach starts gurgling bad and it hurt until I eat something else usually. I'm not lactose intolerant so what could be wrong?
----------

You might be lactose intolerant or something of that nature, your doctor could run some tests and see.  (+ info)

What excercises are good for losing stomach fat?

I currently jog 2 miles and do 4 sets of 30 sit ups a day (120). What other excercises are good for losing stomach fat? I'm not interested in muscle or losing any type of fat other than stomach fat. If you could, list a few. Thanks!
----------

jogging is an excellent exercise because it let you lose weight
evenly throughout your whole body. It's great that you are already doing cardio.
If you want to lose weight in
specific areas, you should target them with exercises. If they are
your problem areas, they will be very difficult to tone. You will have
to work double on them. The best approach is this:
1. Lower/control your daily calorie intake (control for normal
weight, lower for overweight).
2. Run/jog to lower your overall body fat percentage.
3. Target your problem areas with exercises.
an excellent exercise, you can do it in front of your TV: sit on a
stool, and put your toes under something (piece of heavy furniture,
for example). In your hands hold a little dumbbell. Please, make sure
that it is not very heavy, start with one kilo, for example, or you
will damage your back and spine! Slowly move the upper part of your
body back, until it's parallel with the ground. Stop for a second and
move it back to the sitting position. Repeat ten times. Every week add
to the number of repetitions. You will see the results in a week,
guaranteed! You will see or feel under the fat - if you have any - six
pack and muscles. Dumbbells do wonders. Much better than these
crunches - I came up to three hundreds and there was no results AT
ALL. With the dumbbells you will see it in a week.  (+ info)

Why is my stomach sensitive especially to bad pizza sauce and most pasta cream sauces?

My stomach is weak when it comes to food in general but I have bad diarrhea with cream sauce related to pasta and rarely pizza sauce. I have lactose intolerance in my family which maybe why but I don't know why. I am also hypoglocemic... :(. Help please.
----------

Lactose intolerance can cause diarrhea and it does tend to run in families. Pay attention to what you eat and see if you have more of a problem when you consume dairy products such as as milk, ice cream, cream sauces, yogurt and cheese. I'm not sure why you'd have problems with pizza sauce, but some people have problems digesting tomatoes. Or it could be some of the ingredients in the sauce, such as onions and dried red pepper flakes, that are giving you problems.  (+ info)
