i am 22 and have had trouble dealing with how i feel about having this,, i want to find someone in my age range, 18-25 that needs someone to talk to also
----------

I do not have it, I just wanted to say how wonderful it is to see the success of congenital heart surgeries. Had i been born with TOF, I would only lived a few months.
But I understand that you have also been thru a lot of medical procedures and doctor visits too. I imagine that you were always treated differently as well. I hope you find your buddy to talk to.

Is there any solution other than surgery for desease Tetralogy of fallot in newly born babies.?

This is regarding my 10 months baby. The baby is not blue always but get blue at the time of taking bath or cry. She is under medicine Praponol 20 mg per day.

The above keeps the heart rate low, but ultimately the baby will require surgery.
Sorry to write, do go for symptoms but underlying pathology of TOF.  (+ info)

In tetralogy of fallot, can the eyes appear bluish?

Cyanotic heart defects are called such because they result in cyanosis, a bluish-grey discoloration of the skin due to a lack of oxygen in the body. Such defects include persistent truncus arteriosus, total anomalous pulmonary venous connection, tetralogy of Fallot, transposition of the great vessels, and tricuspid atresia.
Infrequently, babies with tetralogy of Fallot will suddenly develop deep blue skin, nails and lips after crying, feeding or upon awakening. These episodes are called "Tet spells" and result from a rapid drop in the amount of oxygen in the blood. Toddlers or older children may instinctively squat when they are short of breath. Squatting increases blood flow to the lungs.  (+ info)

Tetralogy Of Fallot question...please only answer if you are familiar with this condition!!..?

My son is two months old. He was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot at 1 day old. He is considered a "pink tet" (the degree of obstruction in the pulmonary tract (right ventricular outflow, pulmonary valve and pulmonary arteries is low.) however I am concerned because he at his last doctors appointment he only weighed 9 lbs 10 ounces which puts him below the 5th percentile for his weight. I know TOF babies have weight gain issues and that it can cause growth problems...does anyone know if this is true 100% of the time? Also, does anyone know of anyone or any websites where I can meet or chat with other parents going through this type of birth defect? My husband has been deployed to Iraq and I dont have anyone to talk to about my son. Any help or advice would be great. Thank you!
----------

Here is a support group that may be able to help. Most babies will have a problem gaining and maintaining weight but not all. Has he has a surgery yet? Im sorry I can't give you much info but you should check out this group. God bless you, your baby, and your husband for all he is doing for us.

Unfortunately, even with the advances of medical technology, Tetralogy of Fallot, most times requires surgical intervention. Yeah, it is difficult to see an innocent child to have to endure sure a procedure but, the surgery is quite successful. What are her symptoms??Any blue discoloration and shortness of breath( breathlessness)?? Other symptoms include difficulty feeding, failure to gain weight and, poor development. If so,then let the Doc's earn their keep.In addition, should you have any concerns or unresolved questions, please let the Docs' be aware.GoodLuck and God Bless.  (+ info)
