1/6. Triploid pregnancy after ICSI of frozen testicular spermatozoa into cryopreserved human oocytes: case report.

Although freezing oocytes is ethically more acceptable than cryopreservation of embryos, variable oocyte survival, fertilization rate and possible risk of increased ploidy after cryopreservation have precluded the widespread clinical application of oocyte cryopreservation in assisted reproduction techniques. We report a triploid pregnancy from intracytoplasmic sperm injection of recombinant FSH-stimulated frozen/thawed testicular spermatozoa into cryopreserved oocytes in a hormone replacement cycle. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a pregnancy where both gametes have been frozen. It illustrates the need for further research when applying new techniques in assisted reproduction.

2/6. trisomy 1 in a case of a missed abortion.

Most chromosomal trisomies lead to miscarriages. In all trisomies, trisomy 1 is the most rare case. We herein present a patient who demonstrated a gestational sac and a yolk sac on transvaginal ultrasound. However, at 53 days of gestation, the pregnancy was lost with a diagnosis of a blighted ovum. A D&C was recommended and performed. A cytogenetic analysis from chorionic villi demonstrated a 47,XX, 1 chromosome complement in all 100 cells. Regarding full trisomy 1, there has only been one case report of a preembryo and two case reports in a clinically recognized pregnancy to date.

3/6. Recurrent partial hydatidiform mole: report of a case.

The first case of recurrent partial hydatidiform mole is reported. Despite worsening of the associated embryopathy, there was no worsening of the histologic characteristics in terms of trophoblastic hyperplasia or behavior. More cases are needed to define the natural history of this recurrent form of trophoblastic neoplasia.

4/6. Invasion of human embryo by enterobius vermicularis.

Two enterobius vermicularis organisms invading a macerated embryo 2 cm in length were found in the tissue from an endometrial curettage performed for missed abortion in a pregnant woman. Ova from the helminths were recovered from the vagina and endometrium of the patient. This most unusual case provides further evidence for the invading capacity of E vermicularis.

5/6. Simultaneous bilateral tubal pregnancy following in-vitro fertilization and embryo transfer.

A case of simultaneous bilateral tubal pregnancy resulting from in-vitro fertilization and embryo transfer is presented. Repeated transvaginal ultrasound examinations confirmed an intrauterine sac but no fetus. A diagnosis of early missed abortion was incorrectly made and a curettage was performed. The pathological examination showed the presence of decidua and Arias-Stella phenomenon but no chorionic villi. Diagnostic laparoscopy and laparotomy performed 40 days after embryo transfer (eighth week of gestation), revealed bilateral tubal pregnancy. Bilateral salpingectomy was performed.

6/6. Transcervical embryoscopic diagnosis of conjoined twins in a ten-week missed abortion.

Embryoscopic diagnosis of conjoined twins presenting with a missed abortion has never been reported. The morphological and pathological examinations, and the exact time of death in the conceptus of a missed abortion are seldom clearly delineated. The newly developed field of embryoscopy has created a new frontier in early embryonic/fetal visualization and is able to confirm the sonographic diagnosis. In this report, we used a transcervical endoscope to verify conjoined twins (thoraco-omphalopagus) in a 10-week missed abortion. Based on the size and the external features of the dead embryo, which exhibited developmental arrest at nine weeks and three days of menstrual age, we estimated that the embryo had died four days before examination. The whole procedure proceeded smoothly without any immediate complications.
