/1958. Ask-Upmark kidney associated with renal and extrarenal arterial aneurysms.Reports of Ask-Upmark kidney, initially described as a congenital defect in renal development, are uncommon. We report a case with the features of bilateral asymmetrical segmental atrophy in a patient with childhood-onset hypertension. As an adult, she developed cerebral, celiac, and renal artery aneurysms. She underwent successful clipping of the cerebral aneurysm and renal artery repair with preservation of renal function. Novel radiologic techniques make possible the noninvasive diagnosis of segmental atrophy and its complications.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 1keywords = artery (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/1958. Bilateral fibromuscular hyperplasia in the internal carotid arteries with aneurysm formation.A patient with bilateral fibromuscular hyperplasia in the carotid arteries with development of aneurysms is reported. The patient had no symptoms except for a palpable mass on one side and a bruit on both sides. Surgery was carried out bilaterally, using direct end-to-end suture on one side and a reconstruction with an autologous vein on the other side. It is suggested that fibromuscular hyperplasia may be the cause of some of the internal carotid artery aneurysms reported as congenital or with uncertain etiology. Reconstructive surgery of the carotid artery is recommended due to the obvious hazards of the condition.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 1keywords = artery (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/1958. aneurysm of the pancreaticoduodenal artery. A case report.A case of an aneurysm of the pancreaticoduodenal artery is reported, together with a short review of the literature relating to this condition Because of its rarity the diagnosis is often overlooked even when typical changes are found on X-ray. The possible relationship between obstructive jaundice and aneurysms in the vicinity of the galltree is discussed. Surgical treatment is recommended by most authors once the diagnosis of an intra-abdominal aneurysm has been made, mainly because of the risk of rupture.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 2.5keywords = artery (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/1958. aneurysm of saphenous vein coronary bypass graft: diagnosis by computed tomography.A patient with a history of coronary artery bypass graft surgery underwent computed tomography scanning for evaluation of a lung mass. A heterogeneous mediastinal mass discovered incidentally on computed tomography scanning was shown to be a saphenous vein bypass graft aneurysm.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 0.5keywords = artery (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/1958. Bronchial artery aneurysm. Two patients with giant bronchial artery aneurysm at the origin of the bronchial artery from the descending aorta were successfully treated. Both of them had been given a diagnosis of bronchiectasis and found with hemoptysis. One was a 64-year-old woman treated with transcatheter arterial embolization, and the other was a 64-year-old woman treated with surgical ligation.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 3keywords = artery (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/1958. Late development of an aneurysm of a saphenous vein used as an aortocoronary conduit.A case of a large saphenous vein aortocoronary aneurysm that developed late after coronary artery bypass grafting is presented. This is the first case of a large saphenous vein aortocoronary aneurysm identified by serial angiography and 3-dimensional computed tomographic scanning.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 0.5keywords = artery (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/1958. Left main coronary artery compression by aneurysmal pulmonary artery in a patient with tetralogy of fallot with absent pulmonary valve. We describe an 11-year-old girl with tetralogy of fallot and absent pulmonary valve, who on selective coronary angiography was found to have extrinsic compression of the left main coronary artery by the aneurysmally dilated pulmonary artery. This abnormality has not been reported previously.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 5keywords = artery (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/1958. Mucoid degeneration of the brachial artery: case report and a review of literature.Cystic adventitial disease (CAD) is a rare cause of intermittent claudication, occurring in approximately 1:1200 claudicants or 1:1000 of those undergoing arteriography. It is most often described in the popliteal artery and is characterised by a mucinous cyst located in the adventitia of the artery, the contents of which resemble those of a ganglion. The origins of adventitial cysts are unknown, but connections to adjacent synovial spaces have been identified, suggesting that the cyst is a variant of a ganglion. In this report, we discuss a rare case of severe mucoid degeneration of the intima and media in a 67-year-old Saudi male patient. The patient presented with a saccular aneurysm of his right "mid-arm" brachial artery and critical ischemia of his right hand from distal embolisation.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 3.5keywords = artery (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/1958. Carotid ligation for carotid aneurysms.Thirty patients with subarachnoid haemorrhage due to rupture of a carotid aneurysm were treated by ligation of the common carotid artery. Two patients died as a result of the procedure, two patients developed persisting hemisphere deficit. Eight of the ten patients who developed cerebral ischemia after the operation were operated within ten days after the bleeding. At present out aim is to guide the patient safely through the first ten days after his haemorrhage and perform ligation at the end of the second week. After a follow up period of 1-8 years recurrent haemorrhage did not occur. Common carotid ligation, preferably with control of carotid artery end pressure, cerebral blood-flow and EEG is considered to be a valuable method to treat ruptured intracranial carotid aneurysm.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 1keywords = artery (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/1958. arteriovenous fistula of the thyroid gland associated with spontaneous bleeding from a flow-induced aneurysm of the inferior thyroid artery.A case of acute, spontaneous cervical hemorrhage caused by a ruptured aneurysm of the inferior thyroid artery is described. This lesion was accompanied by an arteriovenous fistula within the thyroid gland that caused a flow-induced aneurysm. diagnosis and treatment were successfully performed by selective angiography with endovascular occlusion and embolization. Both diagnostic and therapeutic management are discussed, and the related literature is reviewed. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of an aneurysm of a thyroid artery in conjunction with an intraparenchymatous arteriovenous fistula of the thyroid gland.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 3keywords = artery (Clic here for more details about this article) |
