/24. Testicular cysts: management and literature review.Simple testicular cysts are extremely rare; only 20 cases have been reported in the literature. Sites include the tunica albuginea, tunica vaginalis, and testicular epidermis. Conservative enucleation is an effective treatment for these lesions once ultrasound examination establishes that the mass is cystic. Such Enucleation salvages testicular tissue. In the cases discussed, two patients were initially evaluated for vague testicular discomfort and one patient for male infertility. All were subsequently found to have benign testicular cysts. All the cysts were excised, and all patients remain disease-free. Included is a case series report of simple testicular cysts and a review of the literature.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 1keywords = tunica (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/24. A case of testicular tunica albuginea cyst with psammoma body.Cystic testicular masses have been considered rare but due to advances in ultrasonographic technologies their incidence has risen. Many testicular cystic masses are benign but there is a chance of malignancy. Psammoma bodies are found in various malignancies that occur in the genital tract of women but rarely in men. We report a case of testicular tunica albuginea cyst with psammoma bodies.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 2.5keywords = tunica (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/24. Torsion of a benign cyst arising from the tunica vaginalis testis. We describe a rare case of torsion of a benign cyst originating from the parietal layer of tunica vaginalis. This case presented with acute scrotum. Surgical exploration revealed a cyst arising from the parietal layer of tunica vaginalis of which the pedicle was twisted. When a cystic mass is detected in the scrotum of boys with acute scrotum, torsion of a cyst in the cavum tunica vaginalis testis should be considered.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 3.5keywords = tunica (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/24. cysts of the tunica albuginea. Report of 4 cases and review of the literature.Four cases of benign testicular cysts arising from the tunica albuginea are reported. A review of the literature yielded only 4 more instances of such lesions. Clinically, these cysts may be manifested as a tumor or painful swelling, or are discovered incidentally. In 3 cases a diagnosis of testicular carcinoma was entertained and high inguinal orchiectomies were done. The possibility of a conservative surgical approach, as followed in 1 case, is discussed. These cysts appear in the anterior and lateral aspects of the testis, show ample connection to the albuginea and are lined by a cuboidal epithelium. Gland-like inclusion were found in the fibrous cystic walls and in the albuginea. The histogenesis of these lesions is discussed and evidence for a possible origin in mesothelial rests trapped during development is presented. The differential diagnosis of cystic lesion of the tests is reviewd briefly.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 2.5keywords = tunica (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/24. Bilateral ocular malformations in a newborn with normal karyotype: histologic findings.microphthalmos with cyst is a rare condition characterized by a small globe and an inferior uveoretinal coloboma. There is also a defect in the posterior aspect of the eye through which a cyst lined by neuroectodermically derived tissue protrudes into the orbit. A case of isolated bilateral colobomatous and cystic microphthalmos is reported in an otherwise healthy child, showing no evidence of chromosomal abnormalities. Microscopic findings in the enucleated eye consisted of iris and retinal dysgenesis, ectopia lentis, persistent anterior tunica vasculosa lentis and pupillary membrane, intrachoroidal smooth muscle, and optic nerve hypoplasia. In the orbital cyst, a thick membrane reminiscent of the retinal inner limiting membrane lay between the fibroadipose and vascularised outer wall and the inner neuroectodermal lining.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 0.5keywords = tunica (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/24. cysts of the tunica albuginea. The authors report 3 cases of cysts of the tunica albuginea. Scrotal ultrasonography facilitates preoperative diagnosis and helps to avoid orchiectomy or to prevent unnecessary surgery.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 2.5keywords = tunica (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/24. Benign cystic lesion of the tunica albuginea: a case report. We describe a patient whose testicular parenchyma was displaced by a cyst. Histologic findings suggested that the cyst was a dilated efferent ductule passing through the tunica albuginea. Such a cyst is an important and benign consideration in the differential diagnosis of testicular masses. Although orchiectomy was performed in this case, early consideration and confirmation of benign lesions may permit testicular preservation.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 2.5keywords = tunica (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/24. Inclusion cyst and graft contraction in Tutoplast human cadeveric pericardium following Peyronie's grafting: a previously unreported complication.Tutoplast human cadaveric pericardium has been utilized safely and successfully in numerous series of tunica albuginea grafting for Peyronie's curvature without reported rejection, cyst formation, or foreign body reaction. We describe a previously unreported complication of inclusion cyst formation and graft contraction in a 40-year-old white male following Tutoplast human cadaveric pericardial graft surgical correction of Peyronie's curvature. The complication was successfully treated with surgical graft excision and replacement with autologous temporalis fascia.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 0.5keywords = tunica (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/24. Cystic dysplasia of the rete testis. Case report.Cystic dysplasia of the rete testis (CDRT) is a very rare cause of a paediatric scrotal mass often associated with renal and other genitourinary tract anomalies. These complex malformations are probably due to a developmental defect of the mesometanephric system during embryogenesis. A case of asymptomatic scrotal swelling in a 4-year-old boy is presented. ultrasonography, showed a cystic lesion of the left testis associated with absence of the left kidney. orchiectomy was performed because of extensive gonad involvement. Pathologic examination revealed multiple, anastomosing, irregular cystic spaces of varying sizes and shapes predominantly located in the region of the rete testis. The cysts had spread irregularly, displacing the testicular parenchyma, which was subsequently compressed under the tunica albuginea. Preoperative diagnosis of CDRT is easy if age, precise localisation, characteristic ultrasonographic features and other genitourinary malformations are considered. Other paediatric cystic lesions should be included in the differential diagnosis. It is possible to cure CDRT by orchiectomy or by conservative treatment. Nowadays the later option is preferred, but diagnosis of CDRT must be precisely established and followed by careful monitoring.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 0.5keywords = tunica (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/24. Complex tunica albuginea cyst simulating an intratesticular lesion.cysts of the tunica albuginea are uncommon lesions of the testis which in all reported cases have been benign. Complex cysts of the tunica albuginea can mimic intratesticular lesions, thus necessitating orchiectomy. We present a case of a complex tunica albuginea cyst which mimicked an intratesticular lesion at sonography, as well as at magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Tangential views, however, suggested that this was in fact an extratesticular lesion. The use of tangential views, as well as knowledge of the appearance of the tunica albuginea at MRI, are important to make this differentiation in order to guide the management of these lesions. To our knowledge, this is the first case in which the appearance of a tunica albuginea cyst at MRI has been described.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 4.5keywords = tunica (Clic here for more details about this article) |
