11/17. Misunderstanding of cosmetic products: a paradigmatic clinical case in a baby.

A 6-month-old baby had erythema, fissuring of the skin, and craquele due to prolonged use of a liquid soap mistakenly believed to be a moisturizer. We think these kinds of skin disorders will become increasingly common due to such misunderstandings. The proliferation of cosmetic products for baby skin care, the increasing prescription of cosmetics by dermatologists for skin disease, and the increase in kinds of cosmetics with similar or unusual contents all encourage such accidents.

12/17. association of hyperimmunoglobulinaemia D syndrome with erythema elevatum diutinum.

Hyperimmunoglobulinaemia D and periodic fever syndrome was observed in a female patient with erythema elevatum diutinum. The association of this skin disease with hyperimmunoglobulinaemia D may indicate a pathogenetic relationship. The skin lesions responded to dapsone therapy.

14/17. Cutaneous necrosis and multinucleate epidermal cells associated with intravenous phenytoin.

A 23-year-old white man experienced burning pain up his right forearm while receiving phenytoin intravenously in the dorsal wrist. Swelling occurred, followed a few days later by an erythematous eruption that eventuated in superficial skin sloughing. The histopathology of two right forearm biopsies, taken a few days apart 3 to 4 weeks after the infusion, was characterized by partial epidermal necrosis and frequent multinucleate keratinocytes. Localized cutaneous reactions to phenytoin and the occurrence of multinucleate epidermal cells in inflammatory skin disease are reviewed.

15/17. Coexistence of superficial pemphigus and psoriasis.

We describe a case of the coexistence of psoriasis and pemphigus erythematosus. The coexistence of these two diseases may be more than coincidental: the effects of one immune-mediated skin disease may influence the occurrence of another. Possible mechanisms include antigen modification, altered regulation of T-cell activity, and plasminogen activator abnormalities.

16/17. erythema elevatum diutinum with extensive acro-osteolysis.

erythema elevatum diutinum (EED) is a rare chronic skin disease with cutaneous vasculitis, characterized by the absence of systemic vasculopathy. We describe a 79-year-old white woman who has been followed with the diagnosis of EED for 27 years. Our patient has a previously unreported combination of EED and acro-osteolysis. After reviewing possible reasons for the association, her vasculitis seems the most likely factor.

17/17. Terrien's marginal degeneration associated with erythema elevatum diutinum.

PURPOSE: To describe a patient with Terrien's marginal degeneration associated with a chronic skin disease, erythema elevatum diutinum. methods: A 27-year-old woman with peripheral thinning of her left cornea associated with adjacent conjunctival and episcleral inflammation was clinically examined. RESULTS: Episodes of worsening skin lesions were associated with development of inflammation in her left eye. Administration of sulfones was effective for reducing both skin and ocular inflammation. CONCLUSION: erythema elevatum diutinum should be considered an underlying systemic disease of Terrien's marginal degeneration.
