/29. Partially calcified renal cell carcinoma mimicking renal calculus.Radiologic evaluation disclosed a renal tumor and a calcified mass in the right kidney of a 45-year-old man. The resected kidney revealed that a renal cell carcinoma had invaded the renal pelvis and the polypoid intrapelvic portion had undergone calcification resulting in a pseudocalculus.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 1keywords = calculus (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/29. Squamous cell carcinoma of the renal pelvis presenting with a loin sinus. An unusual presentation of a renal pelvis squamous cell carcinoma is reported; a loin sinus with excessive pyorrhea was the only complaint of a man with a long history of renal calculus disease.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 0.2keywords = calculus (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/29. Focal xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis simulating a renal tumor: CT characteristics.Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis is the replacement of renal parenchyma by large lipid-filled macrophages clinically associated with an enlarged, nonfunctioning kidney containing a calculus in the diffuse form or tissue destruction in one pole of a duplicated kidney associated with a calculus in the focal form. We report a case where a focal mass in a functioning kidney with no evidence of calculus, duplication, or fat density simulated a primary renal tumor.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 0.6keywords = calculus (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/29. Simultaneous occurrence of wilms tumor and renal calculus.Nephroblastoma and renal stone disease are seen infrequently in children. We report on a 2-year-old girl with bilateral nephroblastoma and a simultaneous staghorn calculus in 1 kidney.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 1keywords = calculus (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/29. Some guidelines in use of lasers in renal surgery. Some guidelines for the use of lasers in renal surgery are presented. The carbon dioxide laser was successfully used in 9 patients with diverse renal pathology (staghorn calculus, 4 patients; renal tumor, 3 patients; congenital arteriovenous (A-V) fistula, 1 patient; segmental chronic atrophic pyelonephritis, 1 patient) as an excisional tool, allowing us to reduce intraoperative blood loss, decrease operating time, and preserve the functional integrity on the remaining renal segment. This modality appears to be a safe addition to the urologic armamentarium, when used as an excisional tool in renal surgery.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 0.2keywords = calculus (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/29. Simple cyst arising in a transplanted kidney: a case report.A 17-year-old girl was hospitalized for evaluation of gradually decreasing function of a kidney transplanted 8 years earlier. A plain film of the abdomen showed a possible renal calculus. Excretory urography proved that this calcification was slightly anterior to the kidney but in the upper pole a well rounded mass was discovered. An echogram confirmed the diagnosis of benign renal cyst. Malignant cystic lesions obviously must be differentiated from those that are benign. patients on immunosuppressive therapy are known to have a higher incidence of malignancy than the general population. A malignant tumor may require withdrawal of immunosuppressive therapy and removal of the transplanted organ, whereas a benign cyst would require no therapy unless it becomes infected or produces obstruction.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 0.2keywords = calculus (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/29. Replacement lipomatosis of the kidney.Replacement lipomatosis and renal sinus lipomatosis are parts of a spectrum of fatty replacement of destroyed or atrophic renal tissue. When long-standing inflammation exists in a kidney, especially with calculus disease, replacement lipomatosis may be the end result. awareness of this process along with the specific radiologic findings will allow a correct preoperative diagnosis.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 0.2keywords = calculus (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/29. Giant dendritic struvite calculus associated with transitional cell carcinoma of the ipsilateral renal pelvis and bladder: a case report and review of the literature.Renal calculi weighing in excess of 100 gm. are rare, since most stones cause arrest of renal function before they reach giant proportions. We report a rare case of a 100 per cent struvite calculus weighing 698 gm., associated with transitional cell carcinoma of the ipsilaterl renal pelvis. A summary of the large calculi reported in the recent literature is included.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 1keywords = calculus (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/29. Mucinous adenocarcinoma of the renal pelvis.A case of mucinous adenocarcinoma of the renal pelvis occurring in association with staghorn calculus and severe pyelonephritis is reported. The incidence and aetiopathogenesis of this neoplasm is briefly discussed.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 0.2keywords = calculus (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/29. Renal carcinoma with staghorn calculus, perinephric abscess, and xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis in same kidney. Subcutaneous abscess of thigh as initial presentation.A case is reported of the simultaneous occurrence of renal carcinoma with staghorn calculus, perinephric abscess, and xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis in the same kidney, with subcutaneous abscess of the thigh as the initial presentation. The coexistence of these diseases in the same kidney would seem to be important since they are frequently confused with each other.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 1keywords = calculus (Clic here for more details about this article) |
