1/15. Myxoid leiomyoma of tunica vaginalis testis.

Myxoid leiomyoma is an extremely rare tumor, presenting as a scrotal mass. We report a case of 60 years male, who presented with a painless scrotal mass and operated as secondary hydrocoele. This lesion should be differentiated from other myxoid tumors and tumors with myxoid degeneration.

2/15. Intratesticulr leiomyoma: a case report with discussion of differential diagnosis and histogenesis.

A subcapsular intratesticular leiomyoma is described in a 65-year-old man. The pathology is discussed in detail and the hypothesis is advanced that the tumor arises from the myoid cells of the tunica propria of the seiminiferous tubules.

3/15. Bizarre leiomyoma of the scrotum.

Scrotal leiomyomas with atypical bizarre nuclei are rare, which might be misdiagnosed as malignant tumor. We describe a case of scrotal bizarre leiomyoma in a 65-yr-old man. The tumor was a 1 cm-sized, well circumscribed, oval mass arising from the tunica dartos muscle. Histologically, it was formed by whorling bundles of fusiform cells with occasional atypical, pleomorphic nuclei and pseudo-inclusions. mitosis was not found. Although morphologically atypical, scrotal bizarre leiomyomas take on a biologic behavior not different from that of conventional leiomyoma, they should be distinguished from leiomyosarcoma to avoid unnecessary treatment.

4/15. leiomyoma arising from the tunica albuginea of the testis: sonographic findings.

Leiomyomas are benign neoplasms that may arise from any structure or organ containing smooth muscle. The majority of genitourinary leimyomas are found in the renal capsule, but this tumor has also been reported in the epididymis, spermatic cord, and tunica albuginea. Sonography is the imaging modality of choice for evaluating intrascrotal pathology, but the sonographic appearance of leiomyomas arising from the tunica albuginea have rarely been reported. We report a case of such a leiomyoma that was diagnosed sonographically.

5/15. Pedunculated scrotal mass: leiomyoma of scrotum.

Scrotal leiomyomas of the tunica dartos are extremely rare and usually misdiagnosed. A case of a pedunculated mass observed expectantly over thirty years demonstrates the benign oncologic natural history of this lesion despite its capability for substantial growth. Only limited local surgical management of such lesions is indicated.

6/15. Intratesticular leiomyoma: a case report.

A case of leiomyoma of the testis is reported. The origin of the intratesticular leiomyoma is controversial, but recently it is thought to arise from the contractile cells in the tunica propria of the seminiferous tubules. This is the first case reported in japan and the fifth in the world literature.

7/15. Pedunculated leiomyoma of scrotum.

leiomyoma may originate at any anatomic location of smooth muscle in the genitourinary system. The kidney capsule is the most common site for the genitourinary leiomyomas. leiomyoma origination from the scrotum is rare. The previous reported cases presented as small, firm, nontender, slowly enlarging freely movable masses within the scrotum. We report a case of leiomyoma of the tunica dartos, a benign lesion arising from the wall of the left scrotum. It presented as a pedunculated lesion with a surface ulceration, which need to be differentiated from squamous carcinoma of the scrotum. It was treated with a simple surgical excision.

8/15. Bilateral leiomyoma of the tunica albuginea. Case report.

A 64-year-old man presented with difficulty in passing urine. He was found to have two benign tumours, one in the lower pole of each testis, and a carcinoma of the prostate (all confirmed histologically). He was given no treatment initially but when his prostatic cancer showed signs of progression he underwent bilateral orchidectomy. Benign scrotal tumours are relatively rare, and this might be the first case of bilateral leiomyoma in the tunica albuginea.

9/15. Myofibroblastoma of the tunica testis: evolving phase of so-called fibrous pseudotumor?

A collagen-rich stromal tumor attached to the testicular tunica albuginea of a 22-year-old male is reported. Immunocytochemical and ultrastructural characterization revealed a predominant population of myofibroblasts, an as yet unrecognized observation in tumors arising from testicular tunics. The possible relationship with so-called fibrous pseudotumor (nodular fibrous proliferation) is discussed. The myofibroblastic nature of the cell population would support the hypothesis of a reactive contractile process if one accepts this tumor as an evolving phase of fibrous pseudotumor.

10/15. leiomyoma of tunica albuginea of testis.

leiomyoma is an uncommon lesion which may originate anywhere within the genitourinary system where smooth muscle is present. The third case of leiomyoma of the testicular tunica albuginea is reported, and other reports of genitourinary leiomyomas are reviewed.
