/28. Thoracic meningocele in neurofibromatosis: CT and MR findings.A case of lateral intrathoracic meningocele incidentally found in association with neurofibromatosis Type 1 is presented. magnetic resonance imaging proved most valuable in diagnosis.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 1keywords = meningocele (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/28. Intrathoracic meningocele associated with neurofibromatosis: case report. The authors present a case of intrathoracic meningocele associated with neurofibromatosis. Computed tomography with metrizamide myelography proved valuable in locating the lesion, thus facilitating surgical intervention. With the preoperative diagnosis established and the severity of the meningocele known, the surgeons safely employed a subpleural approach at thoracotomy.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 1.2keywords = meningocele (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/28. Anterolateral cervical meningocele in association with neurofibromatosis: MR and CT studies.Cervical anterolateral meningocele is rarer than its counterpart in the thoracic region. All of the previously described patients and the present case had associated neurofibromatosis. The magnetic resonance appearance is diagnostic.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 1keywords = meningocele (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/28. Multiple frontobasal meningoencephaloceles in neurofibromatosis.A patient is reported who has multiple osseomeningeal defects and bilateral frontobasal encephaloceles in the context of a neurofibromatosis. After frontobasal revision with plastic closure of a cerebrospinal fluid fistula, the rhinoliquorrhea cleared, but there was an aggravation of a preexisting internal hydrocephalus with signs of raised intracranial pressure. The conditions were stabilized after various shunt operations. Additional diagnoses included a cyst (possibly a colloid cyst) in the anterior third ventricle and partial aplasia of the anterior trabecula. The particular problems in this case in relation to the spinal meningoceles already known in neurofibromatosis and spheno-orbital encephaloceles are discussed.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 0.2keywords = meningocele (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/28. Anterior sacral meningocele and tuberculous spondylitis of the sacrum in a patient with neurofibromatosis. Case report and review of the literature. We report a case of an adult male with neurofibromatosis and chronic low back pain. Evaluation revealed an anterior sacral meningocele, pulmonary tuberculosis, and later in the course of his illness, an osteolytic tuberculous mass in the sacrum. The patient was treated medically with a good outcome. The nature of anterior sacral meningoceles and tuberculosis spondylitis, the differential diagnoses, and relevant treatment options are discussed.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 1.2keywords = meningocele (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/28. Anterolateral lumbar meningocele presenting as an ovarian cyst, in a patient with neurofibromatosis.A case of an anterolateral lumbar meningocele in a patient with neurofibromatosis is presented. As anterolateral lumbar meningocele may present itself only by non-specific symptoms like low back pain or abdominal pain, such symptoms require prompt diagnostic work up in patients with neurofibromatosis. The significance of MR imaging in early recognition of this rare anomaly is emphasized.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 1.2keywords = meningocele (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/28. Lateral thoracic meningocele.A case of intrathoracic meningocele is reported, and 95 cases from the literature are reviewed. Thoracic meningoceles are usually associated with neurofibromatosis; nevertheless their etiology remains controversial. The authors postulate the role of spinal trauma in some patients and the origin of the meningocele from an abnormal prolongation of a nerve sleeve in nontraumatic cases. Thoracic meningoceles often are asymptomatic or produce radicular intercostal pain. Spinal computed tomography is the most useful investigation, particularly in the exploration of large meningoceles. Surgery is required in symptomatic cases and usually results in remission of the pain.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 1.8keywords = meningocele (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/28. Occult thoracic and sacral meningoceles. Two cases of occult meningoceles are reported. The first case exhibited a combination of thoracic meningocele and neurofibromatosis with additional generalised osteomalacia. The second case was an anterior sacral meningocele. Based on these reports pathogenesis, diagnosis and therapy are discussed. The importance of myelography for the diagnosis of this condition and the indications for operative treatment are pointed out.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 1.4keywords = meningocele (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/28. Intrathoracic meningocele and vertebral anomalies in a case of neurofibromatosis.A case of an intrathoracic meningocele associated with vertebral scalloping, enlarged intervertebral foramina and scoliosis in neurofibromatosis without spinal or nerve root rumors is described. A markedly attenuated dura mater anteriorly was present at autopsy and may have predisposed to meningeal herniation and scalloping.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 1keywords = meningocele (Clic here for more details about this article) |
/28. CT appearance of generalized von Recklinghausen neurofibromatosis. Two cases of von Recklinghausen neurofibromatosis (VRN) with thoracic and abdominal involvement are described. Computed tomography demonstrated the typical lesions of this disease: meningoceles, neurofibromas, and skeletal alterations. In both cases lesion morphology and location were similar and characteristic, in particular in the pelvic region. Computed tomography findings in generalized VRN are sufficiently characteristic to be considered diagnostic for this disease.- - - - - - - - - - ranking = 0.2keywords = meningocele (Clic here for more details about this article) |
