breathing tics

breathing tics

Throughout highschool and my first year of college i had various chronic breathing "tics." i would find myself sniffling or coughing sporadically. Sometimes this would lead to large periods of time in which i was inhaling less air than i normally would when breathing fully. Sometimes as much as only sixty percent i believe ( i did this estimate based on the amount of inhalation time before exhale and the feeling of fullness in my lungs when competing with the breathing tick in comparrison to just inhaling normally.) Im wondering if getting less oxygen than normal for extended periods of time could have caused damage to my brain or dumbed me down at all. Thanks very much for your help.
