is this a keloid acne scar that I'm having?

three weeks ago i developed a cyst on my inner cheek that i regrettably popped it two days later. now i have a keloid like raise on that spot that feels no different from surrounding skin. it is red, very slightly raised and about a grain sized. in all appearance it looks like a fresh keloid scar but the thing is there is a lump under the scar that gets smaller by day as i gently feel it out with my fingers. also in the morning right as i'm awake i notice that the scar is always smaller and less reddish only to become more pronounced as the day goes by. the main thing is it is getting smaller by day although too slowly. so should i worry it being a true acne scar or if not is there any natural home remedy that i can try to speed up the healing? thanks for your answers.

How to rid keloid scars on my back, I have over 40 separate keloid scars on my back from sever acne?

My sever back acne caused my back to form hard pink keloid scars all over my upper back, now I can never take my shirt off and it is so embarrassing. Please help me, I'm 25 now and have been suffering with these same scars sense I was 19, they don't seem to be getting bigger but they are so disfiguring! I don't get keloid scars from a normal injury, I think I got the ones on my back from my acne lasting so long and the cysts constantly popping and bleeding all over, I had zits on top of cysts on top of boils, it was horrible, now it is pretty clear but the scars make it look the same, yuk.

Hi there

Have a look at the scar forums at www.acne.org. I'm not sure if you're UK or US based, but you should consult a dermatologist with a special interest in acne scars. You may also wish to join the Acne Support Group (just google it to get their website). There are surgical treatments available for keloid scarring, though you should not expect 100% improvement, but certainly a noticeable change. But do see a genuine expert (try Tony Chu, Hammersmith Hospital, London, for initial advice as a private patient if you can afford it).  (+ info)

I MIGHT be keloid prone. Should I go ahead and get a tattoo?

I'm considering getting a tattoo. However, a couple of years ago I got my ear pierced and didn't take care of it properly. It got infected and then developed a small keloid. I'm concerned about getting a tattoo if I'm predisposed to keloids. The thing is, that was my first and only keloid, and I'm a white male (and I've read keloids with this demo is rare) and I've had acne on my back leaving plenty of scars which have never developed keloids. Am I really predisposed to developing keloids and am I risking a keloid by getting a tattoo?
----------

Keloid scars only usually develop on areas where the damage is quiet deep, as a tattoo is mostly surface and not that deep i doubt that it would cause any scarring I have a large keloid scar on my stomach and chest but have never had any problems with the tattoos that i have had before and after i got the scar.  (+ info)

Where to get a tattoo that won't keloid?

I'm prone to keloids but I want to get a tattoo, is there a spot that is less likely to keloid. I only have keloids on my chest and its a result of acne, will I develop keloids if I get a tattoo?
----------

sometimes.
as a rule, there is no way to fix it and i personally don't know of any places that are less prone to keloids than others. it depends on the skill of the artist, if you don't overwork the skin and stress it out, it won't keloid.  (+ info)

Keloid scaring because of acne?

Hi, I have very bad keloids on my chest now for about 4 years, and the worst thing of all its getting worse, for every cut or bad/big pimple it leaves a scar. I tried everything possibly that I could get to just make it stop and make it look better but nothing works. I'm at this point that I'm only wearing cloths that covers my chest, I'm so ashamed I don't know what to do. It hurst some times and is itchy. Any suggestions? I want to consult a dermatologist but I'm afraid that they will surgically remove them then they grow back.
----------

I am sorry you have to experience this...but Keloids are raised scars formed from collagen fibers and their really isn't anything you can do. Keloids are prominent in african americans.  (+ info)

How do you get rid of Keloid's?

I have keloids on my chest and back!
I know if you get surgery they might grow back,
but is there any doctor or cure or something!

I really want them to go away!
They were caused by acne....
????
----------

Well laser surgery but like you said, they might grow back and be even bigger.
If theyre still healing, you can put vitamin E oil on them to help reduce their size.
You could also get a tattoo over them.
I have about a quarter sized one on my chest and i got a tattoo over it last night.
I can't post the picture because it keeps saying error but if you want me to send you the link to a picture of my tattoo then email me.  (+ info)

Keloid Scar Removal- How Can I help my friend in keloid scar removal?

Keloid scar removal is something that everyone who suffers from the firm, reddish-purple scars dreams of. One of friend is suffering from keloid scars and I want to help him. Please share your knowledge about the natural remedies for keloid scar removal.
----------

Keloids, like other scars, typically develop following a trauma to the skin. Typical skin traumas that result in Keloid scars are cuts, or abrasions such as when the skin is scraped against a hard surface. Other traumas include puncture wounds such as those resulting from a piercing or from a skin disease such as acne or chickenpox.

Once a Keloid develops, there are a variety of treatment options to choose from. However, you essentially have two main choices: treat the Keloid using a topical scar gel or have it surgically removed either via traditional surgical techniques or a laser treatment.

Let's begin with surgery. While you may assume that this is the obvious answer, take a moment to think about the inherent risks involved with surgery. Not only are you subjecting yourself to the potential of an allergic reaction to the anesthetic, but are also not guaranteed of having the Keloid removed forever. This is because another Keloid may develop following the surgery. Of course, there is also the hefty price to consider.

While some of those with Keloid scars do have medical insurance, the reality is that those without insurance can expect to pay a lot of money to have their Keloids removed. It should be noted that some doctors prefer injecting the scar with steroids or cortisone rather than surgically removing the scar.

The other popular treatment option is to diminish the appearance of a Keloid using a topical scar treatment. Using a scar gel may not produce immediate results, but compared to surgery, using a scar treatment gel is less expensive and less risky. However, not all scar treatments are created the same. There are scar creams, gels, and silicone sheeting to choose from.

Scar creams have been proven to be effective, but only if they contain silicone. This is because silicone is the single most important ingredient in an effective scar treatment. This is why it may be in your best interest to just bypass scar creams and instead choose a scar gel. This is because a scar cream has a greater potential to stain your clothes.

That leaves two options, scar gels and silicone sheeting. Scar sheeting is essentially composed of silicone and is placed over the scar. The good thing about using sheeting is that it is made from silicone which has proven to be effective in treating scars including Keloid scars. However, the problem with these sheets is that they are not only expensive, but that they sometimes loose contact with the scar during movement.

In conclusion, Keloid scars are a very serious type of scar as they can quickly grow out of control. If you have a Keloid, it is in your best interest to find a treatment as soon as possible. While some Keloids may require surgery, most can be treated using a non-prescription topical scar treatment.  (+ info)
