inflammatory bowel disease affects the whole digestive tract. It can be Crohn's disease(affects anywhere from the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestines, large intestines, anus, & rectum. UC affects only the large colon, rectum, & anus.
The medications used to treat these illnesses have side effects that do affect the pancreas, liver, gallbladder, and even blood count. That is why it is so very important to keep MD appts., have the required blood tests, etc. to make sure that the organs are not affected. (
