Can a dog catch any diseases from a stray cat who we think drank from his water bowl?
I usually pick up her bowl before we leave but was in a hurry and forgot and coming in the yard I let her off her leash and didnt see the stray cat on the porch and the dog ran right to the water bowl and drank. Should I be worried. She has all her shots but im worried about that feline lukemia or other cat diseases.
----------
I wouldn't worry about it. Just like you can't get sick from your dog, your dog can't catch diseases from a cat. (i can only think of rabies which can infect many mammals and your dog is protected). maybe fleas...but thats different.
Give the stray cat some food. (

Can you catch diseases from handeling prarie dog carcases?
I think I might have contracted the parva virus by collecting the tails for the shooting contest in Saskathewan.
----------
Yes, you can contract diseases from handling dead prairie dogs, but not parvo. Parvo cannot infect humans. You may have picked something up but it's not parvo. (

How does Parvo and Leptospirosis diseases affects a dog and cat?
Canine Parvovirus
This highly contagious virus is often fatal, especially in very young or debilitated dogs. There are two forms, one that primarily affects the gastrointestinal tract causing diarrhea, and one that causes inflammation of the heart. Both types of Parvovirus have severe symptoms.
Parvovirus is transmitted from dog to dog by contact with infected feces. The virus can be transferred through contact with contaminated bedding, cage materials, shoes, and other objects.
Disease Signs:
Lethargy
Loss of appetite
Vomiting
Painful abdomen
High Fever
Severe diarrhea
Bloody diarrhea
Death
Prevention:
Parvovirus vaccines are essential in preventing this deadly disease. All dogs should be vaccinated on their prescribed schedule, and contact with sick dogs avoided.
Canine Leptospirosis Vaccine:
Leptospirosis is caused by a bacteria called a spirochete. It is a contagious disease that can be transmitted between species, including humans. Transmission is through contact with infected urine, drinking or eating contaminated water or food. Most cases are mild and not life threatening.
Disease Signs:
Fever
Lethargy
Loss of appetite
Pain in kidneys
Ulcers in mouth
Ulcers on tongue
Bleeding from mouth
Blood in stools
Increased thirst
Increased urination
Muscle stiffness
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Jaundice
Prevention:
Vaccinations provide good immunity for this disease, and dogs living in endemic areas should be vaccinated for Leptospirosis.

Does dog feces make humans sick. I mean does it carry any types of diseases.?
my son was playing in a yard that was covered in dog feces, there was still snow on the ground and I gave him a bath but you never know with a two year old! what type of diseases could be carried in those feces? what should I be looking for?
----------
I would take a stool sample to your doctor if you are concerned. Dogs carry a lot of parasites and you dont know the history if the dog had all its shots, was dewormed. I would be concerned. ITS POOP. (
