Will dermatologists prescribe accutane to a patient without severe nodular acne?

I've had acne for about 6 years now and I'm fed up with it. I did go see a dermatologist about a year ago, and he refused to give me accutane. My parents as well refused to let me use the drug because my family has a history of suicide. I have gone through every over-the-counter drug, and also about 3-4 different prescribed pills to help my problem. Proactive has worked somewhat, but only on my face, while I have it on my neck and back.
Since I am 18 now, i want to see a dermatologist on my own so I won't need parental permission to use the drug, however I do not have my own insurance. Any advice toward my problem will be a big help.
----------

Accutane, a chemical cousin of vitamin A, is prescribed for the treatment of severe, disfiguring cystic acne that has not cleared up in response to milder medications such as antibiotics. It works on the oil glands within the skin, shrinking them and diminishing their output. You take Accutane by mouth every day for several months, then stop. The antiacne effect can last even after you have finished your course of medication.  (+ info)

What can you recommend for my benign prostatic hyperplasia besides drugs?

I have been diagnosed of having BPH. I have this condition for about ten years now. I take saw palmetto and pygeum africanum. They seem to be working because my urination, while of low "caliber", has not gone worse. But I still experience "dribbling" at the end of my urination. Can you recommend other effective supplements?

Good thing I saw your question, your symptoms call for the Homeopathic remedy CONIUM MAC in 1M potency take it once a week for atleast 3 weeks(3 Doses) and please keep me posted about your progress. It would be lots better if you can post your complete details and symptoms which you are feeling. But as far as I see it just CONIUM MAC will cure you 100% without any side effects or complications. To read about the said remedy please click the link and read carefully :- http://homeoint.org/books/boericmm/c/con-m.htm

Can you use Saw Palmetto for horses with similar symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia?

There is a horse at my barn who urinates up to 12 times before noon, and we have noticed that his case resembles prostate issues. Saw Palmetto was recommended by a doctor for prostate, so why not for a horse?

What is the difference between hyperplasia and hypertrophy?

Hyperplasia (or "hypergenesis") is a general term for an increase in the number of the cells of an organ or tissue causing it to increase in size. It may be due to any number of causes including (but not limited to) increased demand, chronic inflammatory response, hormonal dysfunctions, or neoplasia.

Hypertrophy is the increase of the size of an organ. It should be distinguished from hyperplasia which occurs due to cell division; hypertrophy occurs due to an increase in cell size rather than division. It is most commonly seen in muscle that has been actively stimulated, the most well-known method being exercise.  (+ info)

I want to know if it is possible to have healthy baby even though I have been diaignosed with Focal segmental?

I am 28 yrs old and have already lost 2 babies, I want to know if it is possible to have healthy baby even though I have been diaignosed with Focal segmental glomular sclerosis which is a kidney disease! Or if I just not even consider it!
----------

Your best bet is to consult with both a Obstetrician as well as nephrologist. There's not a lot of information with your situation. Your kidneys will be called upon to work more during your pregnacy as your blood volume will increase during pregnacy. You'll also have to watch for Hypertension during your pregnacy. Also you would have to carefully monitor your kidney function (Bun and Creatinine checks every few weeks) Good Luck. Hope this helps.  (+ info)

What does EEG report "Dominance of responsive 10 to 11 cps alpha rhythm. No focal or paroxysmal changes" mean?

My bf had a EEG test. The report says "Dominance of responsive 10 to 11 cps alpha rhythm. No focal or paroxysmal changes are recorded." What does this mean?

He is probably suffering from Passive aggressive personality disorder. He has all the symptoms (I know it well).

Please help me. Thank you.

I'm just chiming in to second the other answer and to also tell you to please give the bifocals another try. Honestly, mine are the best thing that ever happened to me.

Of course, I wear the progressives, so if you're using the kind with a line, then your situation may be completely different. But I really love mine.  (+ info)
