during the year 1979 on my right elbow, right wrist, right knee, left ankle and on my left side rib area some marks had appeared. all tests for leprosy were negative. so done biopsy. it was diagnosed as granuloma annulare. these marks had no sensation. now after about 27 years, for the last one year, i feel numbness (rigidness) on my fingers, while getting up in the moring after night sleep. within a minute they become normal when i rub the fingers. what caused this? is this anyway connected to any other disease like leprosy? i am very eager to get a reply for this enquiry. after diagmnosing granuloma annulare, local injections were taken on the infected areas. after that i did go for any treatment as per docotor's advice. he said two things: (1) good thing- nothing to worry. it will not cause any health problme. (2) bad thing - these marks will not disappear.
is there any comsetic treatment? i look forward for a kind reply.
You can buy tanning cream and/or a "cover" for skin discoloration in the makeup department of drug store but I don't have much experience in that department. I wish I could be more help, but wish you the best of luck.
Treatment: Because granuloma annulare is usually asymptomatic (causes no symptoms), treatment may not be necessary except for cosmetic reasons.
Very strong topical steroid creams or ointments are sometimes used to speed the disappearance of the lesions. Injections of steroids directly into the rings may also be effective. Some physicians may choose to freeze the lesions with liquid nitrogen.
In severe cases, ultraviolet light therapy (PUVA) or oral medications may be needed.
Expectations (prognosis): Most lesions of granuloma annulare disappear with no treatment within two years. Sometimes, however, the rings can remain for many years. The appearance of new rings years later is not uncommon.

Does anyone here have this condition? I have had for 11 years now and keep being told by doctors it should go away itself within 2 years...yeh right eh?
Anyone with known medicines to get rid of it? Docs say there is no known cure.
Yeah, I've had the condition for about 3 years now and it has increased rather than gone away. There is no cure. Many websites say that if you are young the rash will go away, but if you are older it tends to increase. Not too comforting.
I've done some research because I'm interested in getting some help too and I found a couple of recommendations. I'm thinking of getting the cream and seeing if it helps:
Quote from website:
Your dermatologist may prescribe a steroid cream to apply, or inject steroids directly into the spot to help it disappear faster. Steroids can thin the skin and should be used according to your dermatologist's directions.
PUVA , a type of ultraviolet light therapy, may be used to treat widespread disease. This therapy is given under the close supervision of a dermatologist . The major side effect of PUVA is a sunburn-type reaction.

Is it possible to have Granuloma Annulare in the pubic region?
Is it possible to have Granuloma Annulare bumps appear in the pubic region in a person with a history of the condition?
Although the disorder prefers the skin over a joint area, yes, it can (and does) occur anywhere. (+ info
Methods of getting rid of granuloma annulare?
When I bend my finger it kills. I've already been told not to touch it by my doctor, and he said it would go away in a coupe of years it hasn't. I play the piano and guitar so this is a bit of a problem.
Cortisone injection into a solitary deep granuloma annulare usually will work quickly. Hopefully, your doctor will do this for you. (+ info

I mostly have GA on my legs/ankles but did get one on my face. One thing that worked to calm it down, I discovered by accident: Revlon Colorstay liquid blemish concealer with Salicylic acid, I believe it is 0.5% salicylic acid. After about 3 weeks the spot had calmed down and is now just a reddish dot on my face. Something you may want to try on your face. (+ info
I've had granuloma annulare for about 6 years... nothing has worked, what has worked for you?
I have tried cream after cream after cream. none worked. I am now about to start phototherapy but dont want to waste the time or money if it wont work. I have it all over my legs and feet, and some on my elbows. one night i spilled energy drink on my foot and it dried and the next morning it was better... should i try soaking my feet in it again or could that be dangerous? any home remedies that worked for you?
When I was about 15 I got really bad GA all around both of my ankles. I went to lots of doctors and lots of them didn't even know what it was. I finally got it diagnosed and was prescribed a cream that cleared it up completely in a few weeks. It's been gone for about 10 years but just started to come back. I went to the doctor to get the same stuff he gave me then. I have it right here and on the bottle it says:
Betaderm 0.1% Cre (Tar)
Betamethasone valerate cream 0.1%
If you haven't tried that one before, It works really great. And it's affordable.
I know before when I had lots of GA, some days it would be really bumpy and dark, and other days it would look smooth and light like it was going away. But it never did. It's probably not the energy drink that had any effect on it, just "one of those days" Although if you did want to try, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt anything. (+ info

My daughter has been dignosed with Granuloma Annulare however she has extreme pain in her feet and ankle?
She has had pain in her ankle and feet for over 1 yr - causing he to almost be unable to walk. Which is uncommon with granuloma annulare- any ideas of suggestions
She has already been tested for diabetes- nothing positive
well if she has the one problem, I'd have her checked for others, be noisy, be insistent, children don't have pain for no reason. For instance have they checked her for rheumatoid arthritis? (+ info
