what does anyone know about iris pigment dispersion?
My eye dr found that i have iris pigment dispersion. He said it isn't anything to worry about, but I want to find out a little bit more about it.
----------
The iris is the coloured part of your eye. On the back surface (the side you can't see), it's all dark pigmented cells. Sometimes, depending on the shape of the parts within your eye, those dark pigmented cells rub up against another structure (usually the lens zonules) and start flaking off. They float around inside the eye, and they tend to collect in two areas of the eye. One is the cornea, where your eye doctor can see them easily; the other is called the angle, where the fluid of the eye drains out. (It's hard, but not impossible, for a doctor to see the angle; it involves some drops and a big contact lens.) If you have a lot of pigment stuck in the angle, it could potentially slow the drainage of this fluid, increasing the pressure of the fluid in the eye, and resulting in a disease called glaucoma (in this case, pigmentary glaucoma). Most people don't have enough pigment floating around for this to happen, so it's just an oddity. Presumably your eye doctor checked your eye pressures (either with some drops or a puff of air) and has determined that you aren't at risk for glaucoma. Still something you should have checked occasionally, but nothing for you to worry about in the meantime. (

Is there a way to change my iris color to black?
I have really dark brown eyes but I've always wanted black iris's. I guess genetic mutation can be a cause for black eye color. Is there a way to due it naturally? or unnaturally?
----------
eye tattooing, but i think it's still illegal. (so far i think they are only doing the whites as the color shows up more)
but then again, tattooing th eface and head used to be illegal too... (

Why has my cousin's iris changed from black to light brown?
My cousin does not use contacts or anything. Neither does she have any diseases, atleast not that i'm aware of. But over 3 years her iris has changed from black to light brown almost able to see the iris pupil. Why does it happen, what causes it? Is it a symptom?
----------
i think it is somehow normal, i think it's possible because of gene factor or natural causes (

My son is 6 months old and recently I noticed there is a very faint blue ring around his iris.?
This is a ring around the iris of only one eye. I tried googling an answer but I didn't get a real answer. I am also not sure what google search terms I should use since the colors of the ring are based on different eye diseases or cancers. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would deeply appreciate it. Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about it. I have had quite a few friends with different color eyes or blotches of hazel or blue or brown. Just see whats going on. If you do worry about it. Make an appointment with the doctor (

Can your pupil ever be so dilated it covers your whole iris?
Just a thought of mine...
Can it? Can your pupil ever be so dilated it covers your whole iris?
----------
Technically speaking, no. Your iris contains tons of tiny muscles that contract and relax to increase and decrease the size of your pupil. No matter how much your pupil widens, the muscles there still exist. They can't contract themselves out of existence. (

What you may be experiencing is "Iritis", an inflamation of the iris. Something you should have checked out by the eye doctor to find out what caused it and what treatment you may need. (

Can your iris color change when you are 18?
My iris color looks brown but when I shine a LED toward my eyes my look green. Now this is the freaky thing one night I looked in the mirror and my eyes were a yellowish green.
----------
Generally no. Though my eye color has shifted a bit as I have aged (31 now). Pigmentation isn't impossible to change, and they are actually working on ways to change it permanently.
Beyond that,.. this is mostly due to the different reflections you achieve in different lighting scenarios. The more aware you are of something the more variance you will notice, as you are noticing now in different lighting situations.
It is very common for hazel eyes to be considered 'brown' by a casual observer, even yourself. This could be your case.. in which you have two pigments in your iris, and depending on how constricted or dilated your pupil is -- the variation of color in your eye.
IE: The more constricted the pupil the more the 'color' gets a chance to show. Go into the mirror and adjust the lighting, use flashlights, etc and make your pupil change size. You will see alot of difference in eye color.
True 'brown' eyes are completely brown in the iris. There is no Green or Yellow in the iris.
Hazel is generally a mix of Green and Brown.. and so on. (
