What songs can be used for music therapy for those who are menatlly ill?

I am a nursing student and I am going to conduct a music therapy for those who are mentally ill. Preferably songs that are somewhat known and are not spiritual, rock, and those that can reinforce their hallucinations. Inspirational songs are very much appreciated. Thanks a lot!

I'm thinking a band called "Pantera". Their albums had quite a "feel good" sound about them.  (+ info)

How do you act as a mentally ill person?

I have to act like a mentally ill person, and well, I have the voice down pretty well. The only problem is that I want to 'become' the character, you know? Well, I don't know if I should twitch (if so, how much), if I should either get EXTREMELY angry or EXTREMELY depressed, no inbetween, etc.

If there is any website or anything that could possibly help me? I would highly appreciate it.

why do you have to act like a mentally ill person? your not pulling an insurance fraud thing? and what voice do you have down, exactly? dont twitch, that makes you look like your on drugs.. you can always tell the 'little green men' in th ecorner to be quiet, rock back and forth a bit, dont overdo it.are you supposed to be angry or depressed? angry will have overexajerated moves, like having hand on chin, then real fast moving over to hand on other chin while breathing/long breaths loudly.look pissed...or crazy can be your jesus christ and youve come to heal people....belive your him...rent the movie 'one flew over the cocoos nest' with jack nicholson, or the 'shining' with jack... he plays that perfect  (+ info)

Is it possible to have survived extreme abuse in your childhood without becoming mentally ill?

I'm hoping their are people out their who have escaped the fate of developing a psych condition when suffering from severe forms of child abuse. Most people I have met, sadly, do have a history of mental illness as a result.

Is it possible to have survived this kind of abuse in your childhood without becoming mentally ill?? Or is an experience like this too much for anyone.

If you have any stories or examples I would find that very helpful. Thanks in advance.

Well.....I had a terrible terrible childhood and I turned out ok.I have survived without being mentally messed up,or whatever you wish to call it.I function very well I do not have depression or anxiety, but I do have trouble sleeping sometimes. But for the most part I sleep fairly well on my own,the only thing that has really stuck with me throughout the years is my temper.I am now 38 almost 39 and for as long as I can remember,I have always has a terrible temper.Only and I must stress this "ONLY" when I am provoked.I have never just went out and hit someone for the he** of it.So I do not know if that is the answer you were looking for or not,but that is my story.Like I said my childhood was so very abusive,to this very day I still do not know my "real" father. My mother is still a "DRUNK" I only associate with 1 half sister,I only have half sisters and half brother.I just wish that my mother could at the very least admit that she did me wrong when I was a baby/child and even as a young adult. For some reason she can not do that...and why she can not do that..I don't know!!!!! As for myself I have 2 grown daughters who are like the BEST KIDS EVER!!!! I am soooooooooo proud of my girls.....Well I hope I gave you the information you were looking for. Please have a great day ahead...:)  (+ info)

Why are people so cold towards the mentally ill?

I have an interesting question: why are so many people so cold and callous towards the mentally ill? I mean, most of these people have no clue what the mentally ill person is going through or even try to understand. Attempting suicide or cutting onesself are not attempts to get attention: they are a sign of major depression. Speaking from the point of view of someone who is mentally ill, suicide attempts and cutting are a way of drawing attention to the mentally ill persons problems and a cry for help, not an attention-getting ploy or an attempt to look cool.
Just so you know, I have people in my life like those I described. Despite giving my mom and younger sister phamphlets on mental health, they just don't get it, and in regards to my own suicide attempt, my sister and mom were totally unsupportive and my sister even went ballistic and called me all sorts of vile names, peppered with four-letter words (definitely not the way to deal with a suicide attempt!).

because people are tend to be scared of the unknown and they have no clue what to expect from the mentally ill or challenged there for their only response can and will be coldness and callousness.that is to protect them selves.  (+ info)

Why are some people so harsh with mentally ill people?

I see it quite alot in some people's comments both in real life and on the internet. Many people have a harsh view of depressed/mentally ill people in that the sufferer has brought the illness onto themselves/they deserve no kindness/should snap out of it and think of others who are worse off.
When will people understand that mental illness is an illness just like epilepsy, Parkinson's, etc? And what can be done to help people understand this?
----------

I'm bemused that "Know It All" has answered (spammed?) this question when he has a derogatory view of mentally ill people himself. This poster has repeatedly harassed me after learning that I have been on medication for depression. It just goes to show the bigoted attitudes towards people with such disorders, which are quite commonplace, and the stigma still attached to them.

But, as he says, it's the anonymity that this place provides. That, and some people just lacking in compassion and empathy.  (+ info)

Im a nurse and work with the mentally ill.Does God hold a person with a severe mental illness sinless?

In other words does does he hold them accountable if they dont know the difference beteen right and wrong? The God i know forgives all even before they ask and i beleive even if a mentally ill person sins against the spirit that God has mercy on their soul.
----------

A sin is committed only if you have full knowledge that it is wrong and commit the sin despite that fact. A mentally ill person could not understand this and therefore nothing they do is sinful. To sin against the Spirit is to deny God when you are dying and refuse to repent; the mentally ill are not capable of this either.  (+ info)

What are good and ill effects of Russian Vodka and French wine?

What are good and ill effects of Russian Vodka and French wine?
What are the good and ill effects of Russian vodka and French wines for a males
----------

Good - it'll make you drunk
Ill - if you drink too much it'll make you sick

lol... actual health pros and cons? I dunno. Wine in moderation is supposed to be good for you (like a glass a day) but other than that alcohol generally doesn't have many health benefits. If you binge drink regularly you can destroy your liver and/or give yourself stomach ulcers, along with lots of other complications.  (+ info)

are there any sites for addresses of terminally ill patients?

There use to be an organization called mail for tots, that sent out mailing lists of terminally ill patients, that allowed people to send them cards and letters, but it seems to not be anymore....I would like to know if there is any other such thing that is basically the same. Would love to be a part of it if there is. I have a friend that I still write to from the other. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
----------

as far as I know they stopped giving out their addresses... due to the perverted minds of people now days.... It was a good thing when they were doing it though! I would suggest maybe a local hospital... drop off a few cards, toys, fun stuff....  (+ info)
