what can I use to substitute cream of mushroom soup in a recipe?


My b-friend hates mushrooms but alot of recipies (crockpot etc) have mushroom soup as an ingredient.

Any cream of soup that you like.

It depends on the recipe also but you may be able to use a cheese soup. Whichever matches best with the flavors in your recipe.  (+ info)

How do YOU make cream of mushroom soup?


No canned cream of mushroom in it plz! Has to be from scratch, I want to serve it to guests. How have you made it? I would like to have some recipes tried by people and know that they "work."

1 lb. fresh mushrooms
2 c. onions
1 1/2 tsp. sugar
3 tbsp. flour
1 c. cold water
1 can chicken soup
1 c. all purpose cream
Salt & pepper to taste
2 tbsp. butter

Grate mushrooms and onions. Melt butter and saute onions and sugar until brown. Add mushrooms and saute for 3 minutes. Stir in flour until smooth. Add cold water and stir until blended. Add can of soup and simmer for 15 minutes. Just before serving, stir in cream.  (+ info)

Mushrooms are the only fungi that I can love to eat! My favorites are the enoki, oyster, shiitake, button and so much more!!! They can be used in soups and stir-fry but I never eat them raw. I don’t know how they exactly grow but shiitake mushrooms grow on wood and some mushrooms grow in dark area. I think you can actually grow them at home. I saw a home kid mushrooms on line!  (+ info)

i suggest the herbal essences "none of your frizzness" it's what i use to get ride of puffy/frizzy hair. It works really well and besides making it less puffy it also smooths it out and makes it soft!  (+ info)

is food poisoning less severe if you have a healthy immune system?


If you have a very healthy immune system, will the symptoms of food poisoning be minor? I realize that some food borne pathogens can be really dangerous and can make you very ill no matter how healthy you are, but for the most common ones, will food poisoning be nothing more than a bad stomach and diarrhea if you are very healthy? (I am emetophobic.) Also, do you HAVE to throw up if you have food poisoning. If you try to keep it down with ginger, antiemetics etc. , is that dangerous?

Far less severe if you have a good immune system.

People with weak immune systems [including the elderly and very young] are frequently cautioned not to eat foods that are perfectly safe for most people, like runny egg yolks and meat that is at all pink.

What is your fav stuffed mushroom recipe?


I am wanting to make stuffed mushrooms for my hubby for father's day. The last recipe I tried we did not like. I would like to try something that does not have cream cheese (or just a little) Also, I like green onions and have a chive plant that needs trimming:). I found a recipe that called for A1 sauce with brie cheese. Does that sound like it would be good? I have never had brie. Please what is your fav stuffed mushroom recipe?

Crab-Stuffed Mushrooms

Ingredients:
•1 pound large mushrooms
•6 tablespoons butter
•3 green onions, minced
•3 to 4 tablespoons minced red bell pepper
•4 ounces crab meat
•1 cup fresh fine bread crumbs
•1/4 teaspoon salt
•1/4 teaspoon Cajun or Creole seasoning blend
•1/8 teaspoon pepper
•2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese
Preparation:
Wash and trim the end of stems from mushrooms. Pop remaining stem out. Chop stems and set aside. Melt 2 tablespoons butter; brush over mushrooms. Spray a shallow baking dish (about 8-inch square, or one which will fit mushrooms in one layer) with butter-flavored spray or grease with butter.
Melt remaining butter in skillet; add reserved chopped stems, minced green onions and red bell pepper. Cook until vegetables are tender. Combine cooked ingredients with bread crumbs, crab meat, and seasonings. Fill each mushrooms, piling up. Sprinkle each mushroom with a little Parmesan cheese, if desired. Bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes, until hot and mushroom caps are tender.
Makes 16 to 20 stuffed mushroom appetizers.

How long should I cook pork chops in mushroom soup?


I seasoned and browned some pork chops and am currently cooking them in cream of mushroom soup on the range. How long do you recommend that I cook them?

You can simmer them for 30 minutes but keep in mind the longer you cook them, the softer the meat will be. My mother used to simmer them for almost an hour and they cut with a fork.  (+ info)

Do you know the recipe for a polish mushroom cream sauce?


While my husband was a child, he recalls family dinners where his uncle made a mushroom cream sauce. His family is Polish and the food was primarily from that region. The sauce was served by itself, not as a gravy. His uncle is since unreachable, but my husband still thinks about this food often and would love to duplicate it.

How do you make portabello mushroom burgers?


I've not been able to find a vegetarian patty that really tastes good, but I've had a sandwich in a restaurant before that consisted of a whole portabello mushroom cap, marinated and grilled like a burger. Does anyone know what you would marinate the mushrooms in?

just slather them with olive oil, salt and pepper.

some marinades call for balsamic vinegar, garlic, onion, etc etc. YOu can do that too.

but I like mine just with olive oil. i like to taste the mushroom. it's totally awesome.  (+ info)
