Someone recently told me that it's fine that my baby has the cord around her neck for now but it will become a problem once she drops and her head becomes engaged? Then, according to this person, the cord will get more tight.Does this make any sense to u?

And if yes, what should i do,ask to be induced or have C-S???No doctor will do this coz of nuchal cord !
I'm so panicking right now :(

nuchal cord - what to do about it ?

My soon to be born baby has the navel cord wrapped once around its neck . How dangerous it is or it may become ?
Should I choose section delivery birth because of it ?
What should and could I do about it ?

Thank you

The decision on what type of delivery is best wld depend on the length of the umbilical cord. Even if it is entangled once around the baby's neck, if the length is long, it won't affect the baby's condition during delivery. U cld deliver thru normal vaginal delivery. However, if the cord is short, U will definitely undergo a C-Section. The cord will definitely tighten and strangle ur baby's neck as he descends from the uterus into the vagina during delivery.

So as of the moment, have ur baby monitored by a very caring, responsible Obstetrician. Any sign of fetal distress like slowing of his heart beat will indicate the decision for a C-section.  (+ info)

Pregnant with IVF/PGD & Nuchal & AFP tests very normal, but found a small cyst on the placenta near cord inser?

I have completed 25 weeks and the baby is a girl. I am feeling well but one thing is, during my 2nd trimester ultrasound (on August 12th ), they identified a small cyst on the placenta near cord insertion, everything else was normal (i.e. growth and other measurements etc).
We did IVF/PGD during embryo selection and the Nuchal and AFP tests were very normal / very low risk.
Has any one know about the risk involved with baby? please reply. My email address is [email protected]

Nuchal cord 36 weeks?

I'm 36 weeks pregnant and just had an u/s and the doctor told me that the cord might be around my baby's neck.He said he couldn't tell if it's wrapped or just near, but it was there =/

I was wondering if anyone else had/have similar experience now or in the past pregnancies and if so what was the outcome.
I'm very worried since the baby hasn't stopped moving for more than 24 h now.
Everything else looked fine during the u/s.

Thanks

Causes Of Nuchal cord?

What is the cause of this for those who dont know its when the umbilical cord gets wrapped around the baby's neck while in womb?? Could It be the baby's movement?? And can this be avoid??
----------

The average length of an umbilical cord is something like 12-14 inches... and it's all around your baby in the womb, surrounded by fluid. Some babies actually PLAY with their cord, squeezing it when they find it. The baby is moving all of the time, except when they are sleeping. So it doesn't seem like an improbability that the baby will pick up a loop of cord around their neck, feet, arm, or body.
A cord around the neck does not mean there will be any fetal distress, it just increases the risk. I have seem many, many babies born with a loop of cord around their neck, and because it was never pulled tight, there was never any problem, both during labor or at birth. A tight cord is another story, and a doctor will usually specify in their notes afterword that a tight nuchal cord was the problem.
And no, unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to prevent it. There is so much going on in our bellies while we are pregnant that we are unaware of... but why fret over what we can't control? You can choose to remain excited and optimistic until your doctor gives you a reason to be concerned. I wish you the best of luck.  (+ info)

What is the ultrasound like during a nuchal fold screening?

Do they look at everything, just like a regular ultrasound, or do they just measure the nuchal fold and turn off the machine?
----------

At the first ultrasound all that was measured was the nuchal fold. Blood was also drawn. Even though you may clear the first test they will still have you come back for another screening after a few weeks. The second was more detailed. Measurements of everything were taken- head to toe. Blood was also drawn.
Good luck & congrats!!  (+ info)

What is the difference between Nuchal Translucency scan & a normal ultrasound?

I had a ultrasound when I was 9 weeks pregnant and everything turned out fine. I know with a Nuchal Translucency scan they look at the fluid behind the neck and stuff for downs syndrome, but couldn't they have picked up if anything was wrong in the normal ultrasound?

I am now 11 weeks pregant by the way.

What results did you get from your OBGYN after having a Nuchal Translucency ultrasound?

I had a nuchal translucency ultrasound 2 weeks ago, but still havent gotten any results. What results should I expect from my Dr after this ultrasound?

Thank you!
----------

My NT said
- How many fetuses there were and it's heart rate.
- It's crown rump length. (and it's correlation with its estimated gestational age).
- Whether any abnormalties were detected at this early stage.
- Maternal serum biochemistry: BHCG __MoM, PAPP-A __MoM
- Given the maternal age, background risk of Trisomy 21, Trisomy 13+18   (+ info)

How long do you have to wait for Nuchal Translucency Screening Results?

I am 11 weeks, 2 days preggers and going for my Nuchal Translucency Screening in 3 days. This is my first pregnancy. I'm wondering how long it takes for the results to come back. I read somewhere that it was two weeks, but a friend got her "false positive" right away. How long did you wait for your results? Did you get them right away?

Depends where you live and what country i had mine combined with the blood test and got the results in 2 weeks  (+ info)
