Can you heal an anal fistula without surgery?
It all started in May 2007. I had five interventions including three surgeries. Two interventions they used something called bio-glue that worked for a few months but then it started all over again. I cannot correlate anything I eat (or any of my F&B habits) or anything in my life style to the fistula. It seems to have a mind of its own but is extremely unpredictable. The good news is that it behaves for a few weeks, then bang it decides to show me a few days of hell.
Because anal fistulas pass through the anal sphincter muscles, treatment must be delicately performed to reduce the risk of affecting bowel emptying. Each patient must be individually assessed for the best approach.
The goal of treatment is to cure the fistula with as little impact as possible on the sphincter muscles. The plan will depend on the fistula's location and complexity, and the strength of the patient's sphincter muscles. (+ info
What is needle infiltration in hemodialysis? What is it called when a fistula is "blown."Is this infiltration?
This question is for probsbly dialysis nurses or techs.
At the begining of treatment when there was no problem with needle placement, is it still called "infiltration" when the fistula is "blown" and hematoma occurs?
When a needle is correctly placed the needle makes one hole - into the fistula. An infiltration is when it makes more than one hole - the needle goes into the fistula and then out another side.
A blown fistula is not the same thing as an infiltration. A fistula can blow when the needle first enters the fistula. The vessel wall is too fragile for the needle and the fistula pops or blows like a balloon. It essentially makes a small tear, which is larger than the needle. A needle can also blow once dialysis is initiated. This will most often happen from the venous needle because the exiting blood creates positive pressure in the fistula. This increase in pressure can be too great for the vessel to withstand, causing the vessel to rupture. Again, this is usually a small hole, but the leaking blood can cause quite a large hematoma. What are other treatments for tooth abscess and fistula except distraction of the tooth?
What are other treatments for tooth abscess and fistula except distraction of the tooth since oral surgery hadn't helped?
When you had the oral surgery, was a root canal performed? If so, that is the last ditch effort to say the tooth. If the fistula and the infection does not resolve in 2-4 weeks after having thins done, then extraction is your only option. (+ info

what is the effect of extracring blood from the fistula or gortex?
what is the effect of extracting blood from the fistula or gortex? what is the legal implication of extracting blood from the fistula? Who will be held responsible for that incident?
I THINK you're asking about using a dialysis fistula for blood draws.
This should only be done in an emergency. And then, if possible, with permission of a vascular surgeon or nephrologist. (+ info
Are there any natural remedies for pancreatic cancer?
My husband's Grandmother was diagnosed with pancreatic and lung cancer a few weeks ago. They said the pancreatic cancer was inoperable. Is there any natural way to treat it or at least ease her pain?
I'm SO sorry. Honestly... Of all the types of cancer there are, pancreatic cancer is one you do NOT want to get. There might be natural treatments but I seriously doubt they will do much good.
Your family needs to contact Hospice. Ask the doctor how, he can put you in touch with them. They might know more about natural treatments. Also, there Cancer Centers you can contact.
Good luck to you all. (+ info
Has anyone had an operation to treat chronic mammary fistula?
Hey, just found out that I've got a chronic mammary fistula which is causing me a lot of pain. A LOT! lol. anyway, my specialist said that I need an operation for it, and that it will be done under general anasthetic, but they wont be able to stitch up the wound afterwards incase infection occurs. I was just wondering if anybody has had this operation before, how long the recovery was, and how painful it was? Any other information would be great too.
Haven't had the surgery, but you will probably have an open wound that you or a home health nurse will change a dressing on 1-2 times per day. I would think that this would last 1-2 weeks depending on how it heals. You will be given pain meds for after the surgery, I'm sure. You should take the meds as often as directed after the surgery & don't let yourself go until the pain is unbearable b/c then it will be harder to control. Get up, move around as soon as allowed, drink plenty of fluids, keep incision clean, etc These will all help the recovery process go smoothly

What do you know about superior semi-circular canal fistula? What is the best way to cure this disease?
A friend of mine suddenly experienced hearing loss after blowing his nose. Several days after, he experienced dizziness/vertigo. He consulted a doctor and this doctor requested for CT Scan- the result was normal. But another doctor (specialist) who examined his ct scan plates, found out that he has a fistula in his inner ear. MRI was also requested but again, results were normal. Is it possible that both examinations done to him can't reveal that he has a fistula? Until now my friend cannot work because of his condition. What are the chances that my friend would be able to hear again normally? Are there medications or if not, surgical procedure which can be performed to restore his hearing? Please help my friend...
I'm not an expert on this, but I normally fistulas cannot be corrected without surgery. And inner ear surgery would be very difficult. If it is a fistula, he could just control the symptoms, not fix the problem. Get him to an ENT who can look at the CT and MRI and get a better diagnosis. (+ info
How do I get free/lowcost hotel rooms when raising money for Pancreatic Cancer?
My boyfriend is going to be doing a solo bikeride from L.A. to Chicago to raise money and awareness for Pancreatic Cancer. How can we get hotels to donate a room for a night along the way? He will mostly be camping, but I would love to surprise him with a room here or there as the trip is going to be very difficult.
You can write to the hotels along his planned route and explain what he is doing. You should create some sort of letterhead and perhaps a press release that you can also submit to local TV and radio stations to help drum up interest and possible contributions to help support the cause he is riding for. How long does he have to live with pancreatic cancer?
my friends dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer maybe about 5 months ago. he used to be a big guy and when i saw him today he was stick skinny and it a wheel chair. his skin was darker and so were his eyes. i didnt even recognize him. im very scared for their family.
Does anyone know if he can survive?
or how long he might have left?
Pancreatic cancer is one of the worst kinds of cancer because it is hard to diagnose, hard to treat, and moves quick. My grandfather's brother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away just a few months later. Don't ever give a hope, you can always pray for him and the family. (+ info
